Chapter - III The war continues

I fulfilled an invitation from Deddy yesterday to come to the Indonesian Embassy Office in Kabul, Afghanistan. The atmosphere of the party looks very lively, indeed today the Indonesian Embassy invites all Indonesian Citizens who work in Afghanistan to attend, apart from the banquet, there is also a live music show, "hi Mr. Rudi," said Deddy to me, "hi, how are you," I asked, "yes, I am good and very good," the young man replied, that day I was introduced to some important people at the Embassy, "introduce me, Rud, this is Mr. Hendra, he is the chief of staff here" Deddy said, introducing the man to me, I shook the man's hand, "I'm Rudi," I said, "oh good to see you" he said, "oh yeah, where do you live?" he asked me, "i contracted a house near the embassy" I replied, not long after a Major-ranking foreign army officer approached us. "Hello Mr. Hendra," said the Major in English, "hey Major Leonard, how are you" Hendra told the Major, Deddy took me a glass of cold water, "this is Rudi's mas, drink first," he said to me, "oh yes, introduce, this is Major Leonard, said Mr. Hendra, "i am Rudi," I said as he shook the Major's hand, "i am Leonard!, Major Leonard!," he replied, "do you work at this embassy?" ask Major Leonard, "oh no," I replied. "Otherwise, is the master a laborer," the Major asked again, "not really," I replied, I was a little offended by his questions which he asked me, for he seemed to be introspective of me.

"Then as what?" ask him curiously, "Turis," I replied, "oh, sir a tourist apparently," he said again. Then Deddy showed up and said to the Major, "He's not a tourist" Deddy replied with a smile, "then what?" the Major asked again, "Respondent!, he's a Correspondent," Deddy said again, I just listened to their conversation, "oh apparently I'm talking to a very venomous person," the Major said, I've started to get a little irritated by the Mayor's remark. "you're a Major from which country?" I asked, "i'm from America" he said. "but tonight we're not talking about the miscellaneous, are we?" I asked back, the Major just smiled, "oh definitely not! Sir," he said, "then excuse me, "I will eat" I said, "I will eat, I said again as I passed, "please! Please," you see, if he's not an officer, I'll plug his mouth.

Next we listened to a speech from the Embassy who gave information that the war in Afghanistan is still continuing. The embassy appealed to all Indonesians in Afghanistan to keep in touch with the embassy if something happens during the war, because in this case the Government of Indonesia through the embassy is obliged to protect all its citizens and maintain the safety of the Indonesian Nation wherever he is, even though he is, whether working or studying and in this case especially in Afghanistan. I also attended the event until it was over.

After attending the event, I immediately went home and will immediately make news about the event in the Embassy as information about Indonesian Citizens who are in Afghanistan at this time. I was ready to go home, Deddy then offered to take me, "mas Rudi I drove home yes," said Deddy, "oh, I can," I said, then Deddy took the car and drove to my house. In the car ride along the side of the night road, the time here still shows at 20:30 but all residents have been in their homes since the war began, The Afghan government has imposed a curfew on its citizens, as civilians must be kept safe. But suddenly there was a gunshot, Dor..dor..dor....!! The sound of a series of twilight fires was heard, at once the sound of sirens sounded a sign of danger. Right, the war's back tonight, me and Deddy immediately parked the car to seek shelter. "Let's find somewhere safe" Deddy said.

Dor...dor......duaaaaaar....!!! This time it seemed like a battle more fierce than yesterday, the sky became colorful like fireworks on the eve of the new year.

"Mas Rudi, find a safe place!" deddy shouts, "he's, it's safe in here" I said. Dor...dor..dor...Jedddarr.......! The flames pulled each other bullets out of their rifles. Ssssttt...duaaarrrrrr....! A lontar grenade also hit the army's defense area. Then the thick smoke airs up in the sky. An armored tank running through the middle of the battlefield, the tank also fired its bullets at the enemy. The sound of gunfire from the armored car was like the roar of the cloudless sky overcast, he walked on without knowing a place, destroying everything he went through.

Derrr...derr...dorr....jeddaaaarr...! some of the enemy's defenses were destroyed by the shell of the tank car, which moved like a monster ready to devour anything, at that time I still had time to aim my camera at the battle.

The sound of the sound of bullets continued to be heard, until without us knowing there was a missile that pointed right at a civilian building in front of us, which was in front of us, no wonder the building collapsed instantly as the sound of screaming and crying from inside the building, I immediately confirmed the incident into my camera.

The present situation was panicked, and so was I, where the dust from the ruins had enveloped the view so that I could no longer see Deddy's whereabouts. "Ded..deddy...." I screamed for Deddy's whereabouts, but I heard no sound from him.

Duaaaaarr...duaarrr.rr.r.r....tree......ssssssss.. The sounds of weapons continue to buzz that occasionally the explosions caused by the nukes hit the defense of the opponent, the earth also shook when the nukes landed on earth by blowing up the land of Afghanistan.

An hour later the war broke out, before long the sound of the night market's thumping of the weapon disappeared slowly and away, I made sure that the truce was over. At that time I tried to get out of the shelter and then I kept trying to find my friend. "Dedd..deddy..where are you.....!!" My scream. There was no sound I heard, amid the rubble I walked through one after another of the ruins of the building material while I occasionally searched for the whereabouts of Deddy. Now it has been almost an hour I have not found it, this time local residents and police assisted by red cross volunteers came to help evacuate the collapsed building. Three buildings were hit by stray missiles from the army. At that time I immediately asked for help from the police and volunteers to find deddy. The search continues until several residents who have been found both wounded and dead have been stretchered to the hospital.

Until the morning, I had not found Deddy, now I was very tired and I tried to rest for a while while contacting the Embassy. It was not long before the Embassy team and the Evacuation team arrived at the site by the Volunteers and the team that searched the rubble of the collapsed building to find the whereabouts of Deddy.

In the morning, at exactly 08:36, Deddy was finally found by a team torn apart the ruins of the building. Right...! He survived, only his feet were squeezed from the rubble of the building, now the team is trying to get him out of the rubble of the building. Deddy's body has now been successfully evacuated and immediately rushed to the Hospital. As a friend, I continued to accompany him to the Hospital. Then when he arrived at the hospital, Deddy went straight into the ICU room and I was waiting outside while writing down all the events that happened, he said, it's still clearly stored in my head for the news material I'm sending to the office. Two hours after the embassy team and I waited for the results of treatment from the medical team to Deddy, the doctor who handled it immediately came out of the examination room. We immediately approached the doctor to find out the condition of Deddy at this time, then the doctor said that his left leg had to be amputated because of a fracture that could not be saved.

"Deddy's condition is in good condition, only he needs to rest after undergoing amputation surgery". Said the Doctor. Until noon I was in the hospital and many residents and important people who arrived at the Hospital were interviewed, I was interviewed, from the corner of the Hospital room I sat down to write the news and send it back to the Editor for the latest developments.

Until the afternoon I tried to visit Deddy's room being treated to visit him, but unfortunately the Hospital did not allow me to enter and meet him. I finally went home to my house that afternoon. After arriving home there was Fatimah who greeted me. "sir, are you okay?" Ask me. "Alhamdulillah, I'm fine". My answer. "I heard that master was hit by the wreckage from the attack that happened last night". He said it back to me. "Yes, I'm fine, but my friend who picked me up last night she was a victim, she was hit by the ruins of a building so her legs had to be amputated". I replied again. "what is the current condition of the master's friend?" Ask her back. "she survived, and is now in medical care". I said. "I'm gonna take a shower and get some rest". I said back. "oh well sir, if you need anything just call me". Answer it as peegi passes. I also immediately stepped into the room to rest, but before I rest I took a bath and cleaned my body first, then I immediately headed to the bed.

The war in Afghanistan was terrible, sometimes I was worried when I saw the bullets vying for their respective targets. I don't know how many losses this country has suffered. I don't know how many lives were lost in this war. I can't imagine when this happened in my country, a very sad war, treasure, soul and body is no longer something expensive, he said, all are easily lost for a moment and not many bodies are buried in the earth.

Oh, so sad to see this condition, many children aged toddlers cry on the street maybe both parents have died victims. Not a few children who have been scattered to bear witness to the events of this war, whatever the story of the war only brings grief and misery, war is not a solution to determine a victory, but a solution, if I refer to all this it turns out that peace is much more beautiful. Peace is very expensive for those who experience wars like this. I also will never know when this war is over, because only a few days have I served here twice the battle, has happened, but of all these not only experiences that I have but also valuable life lessons I have encountered here. Throughout the night many people here are difficult to close their eyes they are always vigilant when fighting occurs. Because the battle could have happened not knowing the time and place, all they did was to attack the opponent and his enemy.
