...*🌷Happy Reading🌷*...
In a cemetery, a 7-year-old boy stands in front of two pusara. One old and the other new. The father, the only family left, has now left himself alone.
The boy is Radi. A poor boy who from now on will live like a kara. There were no tears of sadness flowing from his own eyes. His gaze was empty as if the body had lost its soul.
"I heard Mr. Reksa died of a heart attack. His company went bankrupt and he chose to give up on life. The only pity of the son he left behind, I don't know who will take care of him after this."
"Didn't Mr. Reksa have a younger sister, it must be him who would take care of his nephew."
The whispers were heard from the people who crowded the burial area.
Not long after, the rain began to fall. One by one people leave the area.
"Son, let's go home!" A black-robed grandmother came over and patted the poor boy.
"I want to stay here, Grandma."
"We have to go home, son. You'll be sick too long here." The old woman persuaded Radi to go home.
"Why don't mom and dad just bring Radi, Grandma. Why I was left alone here. I don't have anyone now." As soon as the voice came out of his mouth, it made the hearts of anyone who heard it become sliced.
"You're not alone, son. There are still your grandmothers, uncles, aunts and cousins. You still have us, let's go home." The grandmother took Radi's hand and took him away from the graves of her parents.
.......
"I can't allow the boy to stay here. You know, ever since your sister's company went bankrupt, I don't have a job anymore. I have to find a new job, not to mention that our son also needs a big fee for his school."
"Then what should I do? I'm all he's got right now."
"It's better to put him in an orphanage, after all he's already an orphan."
"All right."
After a tough debate between the husband and wife, the wife finally relented. She accepted her husband's decision to leave her little niece in an orphanage.
Behind the door of the room where the couple was arguing, Radi stood there with a torn heart. He is no longer wanted, he better go.
.......
As the day crept more and more night, when everyone was already asleep in his dreams. Radi came out of the house that he thought would be his place home, but it turned out that his existence was completely undesirable there. Instead of being a burden, he would rather just leave secretly. No one will care anyway.
Radi stepped onto the quiet street with a backpack attached to his back. Luckily, tonight the sky is decorated with the moon hanging over it. So, the pitch-black night could be a little bright for the sake of guiding the lonely boy's small steps.
Radi stopped at a very luxurious house gate. On the fence was posted a notice board that the house had been confiscated by the bank. Radi's small hand clutched tightly against the iron fence that was slightly wet due to the rain this afternoon. Those sad eyes stared deep into the courtyard of the house that looked silent. This is where he spent his time playing. The father who taught her to bike and the mother who would run chase when Radi did not want to be fed.
Clear threads began to fall from Radi's eyes. Remembering all those memories, made the longing for his two loved ones even greater. Back he stepped his little foot down the streets, as an evictor longs, the boy chose to visit the graves of his parents.
.......
Morning greet, bright sunlight and the chirping of birds perched in the trees make little Radi wake up from his deep sleep.
"Good morning Dad, good morning Mom." The boy alternately greeted the two pusara flanking him. Last night, he slept well because his parents were with him, even if only in the form of a body that had been buried in the ground.
"Dad ... Mother, today Radi is leaving. Aunts and uncles didn't want to take care of me, so I was going to the orphanage, the orphan's uncle said, living in the orphanage" the boy told two pusara in front of him.
"So dear father, dear mother too."
After kissing both headstones that read the names of his parents, Radi went to meet his new day.
.......
Radi has arrived in front of an orphanage that he does not know where it is. It just goes in no direction. When he passed some people, he asked where the orphanage was. And this afternoon, he arrived at what would become his new home.
The handsome boy entered the courtyard of the house that looked beautiful. Many children of his age were seen playing in the yard happily. Radi was confused, how to ask permission to stay there.
"Good afternoon." Radi saw a woman in her 30s watching the children play, then he approached her.
"Sore." The woman replied to Radi.
"Auntie, is this really an orphanage?" Actually Radi did not need to ask because he had seen a sign that read Orphanage Gem Hati, but the boy just wanted to make sure.
"Yes, Son. It's an orphanage. What was? Who the hell are you here with? Where are your parents?" The woman who was one of the caretakers asked.
"Auntie, can Radi stay here?" Instead of answering the mother's question, Radi asked back.
The woman looked confused, she crouched her height with Radi. He looked at the face of the little man who looked tired and a little grumpy.
"Why do you want to stay here, son? Tell me about mom. What's going on?" ask the woman.
"The Radi old man is dead. Radi has no one left. The uncle said the orphan lived in an orphanage. Hence, Radi came here." Radi's story makes the woman crisp.
"What's your name, son?" The mother stroked Radi's hair affectionately.
"My name is Radi Nugraha."
"Come, now we go in first. I'll take you to the room." The mother took Radi's arm and took him inside the parlour. Radi followed the mother.
"Are you hungry, son?" ask the woman while on her way.
Radi touched his stomach which had been roaring for filling. "Yes Ma'am, Radi hasn't eaten since morning."
"Come, you'll take a shower after that we'll eat."
Radi nodded. Thankfully, he was accepted to this place.
.......
Later that night, Radi sat on the small bed that would become his bed from now on. He opened the backpack he had been holding all day.
"Dad .. mother." Radi stared at the photo figura he had just taken out. A portrait of a happy family is printed there. There was a father, mother and Radi who was four years old at the time. The last photo taken before the mother breathed her last because of her illness.
"Radi is now in the orphanage, the people here are all good. Mom and dad don't have to worry, Radi will definitely be fine." Her little fingers rubbed the photo right on the face of her father and mother.
"Hey, who are they?" A child of Radi's age exclaimed curiously. He sat next to Radi and stared at the photo in the hand of the boy, the new resident at the orphanage.
Radi turned his head, looking at the black-haired boy beside him. "It's dad, it's mom and it's me." Radi pointed one by one the faces in the photo following his description.
"Where are they now?" ask the boy again.
"They are in heaven with God."
"Oh, it means the same dong, my brother is also in heaven."
"Your brother is dead?"
"Yes, my brother used to live here too but now he's dead."
"Where are your parents and mother?"
"Father and mother? I don't have any. From a small age I've lived here."
"Oh yeah, what's your name? Last time Melati's mom told me, I didn't really hear it."
"Radi, you?"
"Bagas."
"Are we friends now?" ask Radi.
"certain."
... ....
Ten years later...
Radi and Bagas grow up to be handsome teenagers. They have graduated high school. Their struggle to get to this stage was not easy either. Since childhood they have worked odd jobs to finance school. The orphanage where they live is only a small orphanage, sometimes they can be disbursed from donors and sometimes not at all. Children who are teenagers try to find any job in order to help meet all the needs in the orphanage. Including Radi and Bagas.
"Sister Radi, Brother Bagas!" A teenage girl ran over to the two who had just come home from work.
"What's up, Sari?" ask Bagas.
"Sister, Heru continues to moan in pain in his room," Sari told him.
"What?" The three of them immediately ran to the room occupied by the orphanage boy named Heru.
"Arrghhh, pain ..."
Sure enough, Heru lay agitated in bed while groaning. "Sakitt ... My stomach hurts so much" he said.
"Did Mel's mom know?" ask Bagas.
"Bu Mel is resting, brother. He's had a fever since last night."
"Oh my God."
"That's it. We have to get Heru to the hospital." Radi carried the 5-year-old.
.......
"Patients should be operated on immediately."
Radi and Bagas bowed lethargic when they found out that Heru was suffering from appendicitis. He had to be operated on immediately while they did not have the funds for it. In recent months, the home has experienced a donor crisis.
"What should we do?" tanya Bagas.
"We're trying to borrow money where we work." Radi.
"alright. We must hurry, Heru must be operated on immediately." Yes, the hospital will never act before the administrative costs are paid off.
Go the two men to where they work. Bagas works at a restaurant as a waitress while Radi works as a cashier in a mini market.
Half an hour later they met at the appointment. Neither of them got a loan.
"What should we do?" Radi shuffled his mane in frustration. While Bagas can only close his face and sigh tired.
They walk down the street, not knowing how to get money for Heru's surgery.
"Di!" call Bagas who stopped walking.
"Yes?"
"That!" Bagas pointed at something in front of them with his chin.
Radi also turned his gaze forward, seen a rich woman who was struggling to put her groceries into the car.
"What's wrong with that woman?" tanya Radi didn't understand.
"The woman looked very rich and she was alone. We'll take the bag ..."
"What's? You want us to steal?" Radi did not believe in Bagas' proposal at all.
"There is no other way, you want to get Heru why? No right? So just follow my plan."
"But-but,"
It was too late, Radi did not have time to hold Bagas. His friend had already advanced. Radiars can only see from far away.
"Thieves!" Before long there was a shriek coming from the woman who was their target. Radi shuddered on the spot when he saw Bagas fighting over the bag with the woman.
Some people around looked turned their heads, Radi was getting more and more frightened.
"Thieves!" yelled at the woman again. Bagas had already managed to get his bag. He ran towards Radi, but some who knew of the incident seemed to be chasing.
"Run!" Bagas.
Everyone now looked towards them, Radi who was frightened, the reflex to scuttle Bagas' legs to make his best friend fall.
"Thieves!" Everyone now started to surround Bagas and beat him up.
Radi's body trembled looking at the Bagas that some people had dug up. He tried as quietly as possible so that the people there did not know if he was with Bagas.
"I'm sorry, Gas."
Radi picked up the lady's bag lying in the street and returned it to the owner.
"Thank you" said the woman.
"D-yes."
Radi lowered his head, not daring to look at his best friend who might have been battered in front there.
"Let's take this thief to the police station!" That shout was clearly heard in Radi's ears.
The handsome teenager looked up, saw his best friend who was driven violently by the people who had been banging him until the whole body looked bruised.
"Nriv ..." Radi clenched his hands beside his body. Mixed feelings now filled the space of his heart.
As Bagas' bruised eyes watered with his eyes, Radi deliberately turned his eyes away.
"I'm sorry, sorry."
