...Slander Story...
...Against Ayesha...
The wives of Prophet Muhammad ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ are noble women. Historians have dubbed them ummahatul mukminin or ‘Bundanya the faithful.’
Among the wives of Rasullullah ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ She was the daughter of Abu Bakr ash-Shiddiq ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ , the companions who accompanied the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Hijrah from Mecca to Medina.
In the course of his life as the wife of the Apostle ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ suffered from grief. His opening recorded history is when he was hit by slander.
This story is told by Aisyah ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Bukhari and Muslim as follows. The story is also related to the cause of the descent of surah an-Nuur verse 11, as summarized by Jalaluddin al-Suyuthi in Luqaabun Nuquul fii Asbaabin Nuzuul.
“If the Prophet is about to travel,” said Aisyah, then He (Rasullullah ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ) usually votes among his wives. Whose name came out, he was the one who went with him.
"In a war, he voted for us. Because my name came out, I went with him. This happened after the revelation that obliges the hijab.
"Throughout the journey, I was transported on a stretcher and stayed in it.
"When the Prophet finished the battle, we were on our way home. We are close to Medina.
"One night he announced that he was going to continue his journey. When they announced my departure, I was leaving to finish my degree.
"After I finish my wish, I will return to my palanquin. However, I realized, my necklace made by Azhfaar had been broken and lost. So I went back to the original place (place of defecation) to find that thing.
"I was still looking for the necklace there, while the people who were transporting my stretcher had already come. They lifted the stretcher on the camel. They thought I was on that stretcher.
(Indeed, generally women at that time his body was light. They only eat a mouthful so they rarely weigh heavy. Therefore, the stretcher-bearers were not surprised by the lightness of the stretcher when they lifted it.)
"They led the camel with the stretcher and set off. Meanwhile, I just found my necklace after the troops left.
"When I arrived at their resting place earlier, no one was seen. Finally, I headed to my resting place. I think, they will realize, I am not with them so they will come back to look for me. When I sit in my place, I feel sleepy and fall asleep.
"When, Shafwan ibnul-Mu’aththal as-Sulami walked behind the troops. That morning, he arrived at my place.
"He saw someone sleeping. Soon he recognized me as soon as he saw me.
"She had seen my face before the hijab. I woke up hearing her voice saying, ‘Innaa lillaahi wa innaa ilaihi raaji’uun!’
"I hurriedly covered my face with a veil. By Allah, he did not say a word to me. I did not hear a single sentence coming out of his mouth other than the innalillah speech earlier.
"He just bowed his camel, stomped his foot, and then I climbed it. Then he set out to lead the camel until we arrived at the troops who were stopping to rest in the scorching daylight.
Aisyah continued the story of slander that had hit him in the time of the Prophet was still alive. The Prophet Muhammad SAW's wife revealed, it is hypocrites who are so happy to spread rumors that she is having an affair.
“The most bitter person in that regard is Abdullah bin Ubay bin Salul. I arrived in Medina, then for a month I fell ill, while the people gossiped about the words of the gossip spreaders (ahlul-ifki). At that time, I didn't realize it at all.
It was only when I was a little healthy and went out with Umm Mishthah to Manaashi’ – that our place of defecation– suddenly Umm Misthah fell and immediately said, ‘Ware the Misthah!’
"I said, ‘What a bad thing you said! Why do you curse people who have participated in the Battle of Badr?!’
He replied, ‘Oh my son, have you not heard what he said?’
I asked, ‘What did he say?’
So Umm Mishthah told me about the words of Ahlul ifki. Since then, my illness has been worse.
When the Prophet came into my room, I asked him, ‘Did you allow me to visit my parents' house?’
"I went to my parents. I asked my mother, ‘Mother, what are the people out there talking about?’
He replied, ‘Oh my son, enlarge your heart. By Allah, if a woman is very beautiful and loved by her husband and she has honey, surely her honey will bother her.’
"That day, I was still crying. My tears never stop. Then that night I was still crying, my tears never stopped coming down, and I never slept.
"Both of my parents thought crying would damage my liver. As they sat near me while I was crying, suddenly an Anshar woman asked for permission to enter.
"After I allowed him to sit down and cry with me. Then the Prophet came, said hello, then He ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Sits.
"Her month ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ He has not received any revelation concerning my affairs. He ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ He uttered the shahada and said, 'Amma ba’du. Aisyah, I heard this and that about you. If you are innocent, God will declare you innocent. But if you have committed a sin, ask God for forgiveness and repent. For if a servant confesses his sin and repents, Allah will accept his repentance.'
"Having heard him ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ I said to my father, 'Please help me, O father, to answer the Prophet!’
"He (Abu Bakr) said, By Allah, I do not know what to say!’
"Then I said the same thing to my mother. However, my mother also said, ‘For God's sake, I don't know what to say!’
"I finally said, 'While I am only a young woman. By Allah, I know that you have heard this until it is fixed in your hearts and you justify it. If I tell you that I am innocent, and Allah is All-Knowing that I am innocent, you will not believe my words.
"By Allah, I have not found the parable of me and you except as Joseph's father said (in Joseph's Surah verse 18), so patience is the best (for me). And to Allah alone ask His help for what you tell him.'
"Then" said Aisyah ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ "I went back to my room and lay down in my bed. By Allah, the Messenger of Allah has not left his seat, and has not yet come out of this house.
"Finally, Allah sent down a revelation to the Prophet. I know this because (looks) His body ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Vibrated. Such was the situation he ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ when receiving revelation.
"After completion (receiving the revelation), the first word he spoke was, 'Be glad, O Aisha! God has declared you innocent!’
"Then my mother came up to me and said to me, ‘Wake up and approach the Prophet!’
"I said, “By God I won't go near him. I only praise God, for He is the one who sent down my statement of holiness.'"
The revelation in question is surah an-Nuur verses 11-21. This is the word of His who delivered Aisha from all wicked accusation and slander.
“Surely those who brought the false news are of your kind. Do not think that false news is bad for you, it is good for you. Each one of them is recompensed for the sins he committed. And who among them takes the greatest part in broadcasting false news is for him a great punishment. (Sura An-Nur verses 11 to 21).
Abu Bakr learned that one of the people who spread slander against his daughter was Mishah. She was Abu Bakr's housekeeper. In fact, the Prophet SAW's friends have been taking care of him for a long time because his family is poor.
Abu Bakr said, “For the sake of Allah, I will not give Misthah any more living after he says (fake news) about Aisha!”
Then comes the revelation below,
⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ithick,
“Do not those who have excess and spaciousness among you swear that they (not) will give (help) to relatives, the poor and those who emigrate in the way of Allah. Let them forgive and hold their breasts. Do you not want God to forgive you? Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Sura An-Nur verse 22.)
“By Allah, I really want God to forgive me.” So, he again gave a living to Mishah as before.
