In 10 Hijri (619 AD), the Islamic preachings echoed by Prophet Muhammad ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ experienced the most difficult and bitter times. That year, the uncle of the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Abu Talib, who always guaranteed his salvation in preaching, was called by Allah .
The Messenger of Allah . He is a role model, how one should behave in the face of the trials of life. But, He ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ also has a human side generally. Feel what ordinary people feel. He was ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ He felt hunger, pain, pain from wounds, and sadness.
Among the events that make the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ His uncle Abu Talib. Moreover, the uncle died while still holding the religion of jahiliyah. Abu Talib was his closest relative and person. It was Abu Talib who took care of the Prophet from the age of 8. When the grandfather died until the Prophet was in his 40s. His extraordinary closeness with his uncle was established from childhood until prophetic times.
When Prophet Muhammad ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ received the revelation and preached it. Abu Talib's love for his nephew has not changed. Although the teachings brought by the nephew are contrary to his beliefs. “Go past my corpse, if you dare to disturb my nephew”, that's about the form of protection. He is like a father who protects. No wonder, Prophet Muhammad.
As Abu Talib suffered from the pain that brought him to death, the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ The uncle continued to fight for happiness after death. By offering Islam. However, until the end of his life, the uncle did not want to worship. He died holding the teachings of the ancestors. Losing the figure of an uncle like Abu Talib is sorrow and sorrow. But, even more sadly, he who has always protected, died in disbelief.
Unfortunately, with the closeness that has been awakened for so long, the heartfelt words of the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ The inner reaches of Abu Talib. He hesitated and refused. Thus hidayah. Although one is familiar with the full cry of wisdom. Even the call was repeated over and over again. And it comes from a voice that never lies. If Allah ⁇ Hittley, P.H.D.H.D.H.Then no one will be able to guide. Abu Talib preferred the call of taklid to the devil. So as to block his view of the ultimate truth.
Then death came. The Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ rushed to the house of his beloved uncle. It brings with it all hope. So that the uncle received his preaching at the end of his age. Until he survived hell.
However, the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ was not the only person present. Abu Jahl also heard the news of Abu Talib's death. Meet the character of truth with the kingpin of error in one meeting.
From Said bin al-Musayyib of his father, he said, “Ahead of the death of Abu Talib, Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam came to see him. At that time he saw the presence of Abu Jahl and Abdullah bin Abi Umayyah bin al-Mughirah. He said,
أَيْ عَمِّ، قُلْ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، كَلِمَةً أُحَاجُّ لَكَ بِهَا عِنْدَ اللهِ
‘O uncle, say laa ilaaha illallaah. With this sentence, I will defend you later on the side of Allah.’
Abu Jahl and Abdullah bin Abi Umayyah responded,
أَتَرْغَبُ عَنْ مِلَّةِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ؟
‘Do you hate his religion Abdul Muttalib?’
The Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ offered to his uncle. But the two men also kept on beating him. Finally Abu Talib told them, ‘Above his religion Abdul Muttalib’. He refused to pronounce laa ilaha illallaah.
The Messenger of Allah ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ , said,
وَاللَّهِ لأَسْتَغْفِرَنَّ لَكَ مَا لَمْ أُنْهَ عَنْكَ
‘By Allah, will beg forgiveness for you as long as I am not forbidden.’
Then God sent down His word,
‘It is not proper for a prophet and those who believe to ask forgiveness of the polytheists.’ (QS. Taboo: 113).
Allah spoke this verse about Abu Talib. And to the Prophet of Allah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, allah Ta’ala said,
إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ
‘Truly you (Muhammad) cannot guide the one you love, but Allah guides whom He wills.’ (QS. Al-qashhash: 56). (Reported by al-Bukhari in the Book of Tafsir al-Quran, Suratu al-Qashash, 4494 in Fath al-Bari).
This is the saddest event that the Prophet experienced ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ in his life. It is true that the Prophet suffered a lot of loss of the people he loved. He ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ He watched two of his wives die before him, Khadijah and Zainab bin Khuzaimah radhiallahu ‘anhuma. One by one his children died before him, except Fatimah. He also lost close friends such as Hamzah bin Abdul Muttalib, Abu Salamah bin Abdul Asad, Uthman bin Mazh’un, Saad bin Mu’adz, Zaid bin Haritsah, Ja’far bin Abu Talib, etc. QATARI. But Abu Talib's death was different. Abu Talib's death was more severe. Wh why? Because the uncle he loved died in disbelief. His family and friends died in the faith. He ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ He ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ He will meet them in heaven and in the lake. As for Abu Talib, parting with him is a farewell for all eternity.
The death of Abu Talib gives us a deep message that all things are in the hands of God. He knows what we don't know. He knows the treacherous spies and what is hidden in the heart. He knows which people deserve guidance.
A person is not only seen as his zahir, but his mind is much more important. From Abu Hurairah, the Prophet was ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Syndicate,
إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَنْظُرُ إِلَى أَجْسَادِكُمْ، وَلَا إِلَى صُوَرِكُمْ، وَلَكِنْ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى قُلُوبِكُمْ». وَأَشَارَ بِأَصَابِعِهِ إِلَى صَدْرِهِ
“Surely Allah does not look at your physical appearance, nor at your appearance. But he looks to your hearts.” The Prophet showed his hand to the chest.
The disbelievers of the Quraysh did not pity to honor the death of this ruler of the house of Hashim. They even had fun and showed joy. They gathered together to hurt the Prophet. In their minds, 'now Muhammad is without protection'.
Ummul Mukminin Aisha ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ , said,
مَا زَالَتْ قُرَيْشٌ كَاعَّةً حَتَّى تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو طَالِبٍ
“The people of Quraysh were always afraid and weak until the death of Abu Talib.” (CHR. Judge in Mustadrak 4243).
Abu Talib's death was a severe test faced by the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ 10 years of his prophethood. In this year, the Prophet suffered many severe calamities. Early in the year, the Quraysh boycotted the children of Hashim. The boycott starts from the 7th to the 10th year of Prophethood. Until the children of Hashim had nothing to eat. Just released from boycotting, his uncle died. The heavy one is, the uncle died in infidelity.
Two months later, his beloved wife, Khadijah ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ) in preaching and motivating him when he was plagued and threatened, was called by Allah ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Diplets . The Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ was very sad because two of his loved ones left him ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ for good.
