Judging from its name, Buraq comes from the word Barqu which means the lightning can be found in some suras in the Koran. One of them is in al-Baqarah verse 20:
“Almost the lightning struck their sight. Every time (the lightning) shines, they walk under (the light), and when the darkness hits them, they stop. If Allah had so willed, He would have lost their hearing and their sight. Indeed, God is power over all things." (QS. Al-Baqarah [2:20]).
In the hadith of the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ also said:
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِالْبُرَاقِ ، فَرَكِبَهُ هُوَ وَجِبْرِيلُ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِمَا، فَسَارَ بِهِمَا، فَكَانَ إِذَا أَتَى عَلَى جَبَلٍ ارْتَفَعَتْ رِجْلَاهُ
"Jibril came to me with an animal that was high on a donkey and under a baghal, and Jibril raised me on top of the animal and moved with us, each time it rises, its two hind legs are parallel to its front legs, and each time it descends its two forelimbs are parallel to its two hind legs."
Related to the form of buraq, in the hadith of the history of the Muslim Imam sourced from the friend of Anas bin Malik explained that the Prophet said:
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: أُتِيتُ بِالْبُرَاقِ، وَهُوَ دَابَّةٌ أَبْيَضُ ، طَوِيلٌ ، فَوْقَ الْحِمَارِ، وَدُونَ الْبَغْلِ، يَضَعُ حَافِرَهُ عِنْدَ مُنْتَهَى طَرْفِهِ
"Towered to me the buraq, the white (abbah) animal (abyadh), long-bodied (thawil), larger than a donkey and smaller than a baghal, and once he set his hoofed feet moving as far as the eye could see." (kitab al-Jami' al-Sahih juz I, pp. 99).
Based on the above hadith, it can be concluded that Buraq is white, greater than himar (Kedai) lower than baghal. He walked as far as the sight of his eyes, the length of both his ears, if down he raised both his front legs. Buraq was created with two wings on the sides of his thighs to help his speed.
When he was about to climb it, the Prophet Muhammad felt the difficulty of Buraq prancing around showing his strength (Because he was too happy). So Gabriel put his hand on Buraq's face and said: "O Buroq, do you not feel ashamed, for Allah's sake there is no creature of God who ascends you no more glorious than him (Rasulullah)".
Hearing that, Buraq felt embarrassed so that his entire body was sweating. After calm, the Prophet ascended on his back.
Depart the Prophet flanked by Jibril on the right and Mika’il on the left.
Said Ibn Saad, who helped the Prophet ride Buraq is Jibril while the one who holds his control is Mika’il.
Before proceeding, we should know the ashbab that makes Buraq prancing because too happy to meet the Prophet.
One time, Allah ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Hittlexhit has ordered Jibril US to go to heaven called Jannat al-Buraq (heaven where the Buraq live). Allah's Commandment ⁇ Fillittlehitthlethi to Jibril USA. In order to bring one Buraq to bring the Prophet Muhammad ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ in the journey of Isra Mi'raj.
Innallaha wa angelahu yusolluna ala prophet, yes ayyuhal ladzina amanu soleu alaihi wasalimu taslima.
It means "God and His angels are blessings upon the Prophet, O you who have believed best upon the Prophet."
So Buraq is actually an angel in the form of Buraq, so they also always say sholawat to the Prophet. As Jibril U. S. looked closely at the entire Buraq, he saw that one Buraq was sitting aloof away from the other. The Buraq cried, and wept, from his cries formed a beautiful river of pearls that flowed profusely from his eyes which was the cry of love and longing.
Jibril went to Buraq and said; "All the other Buraq were glad to praise the Prophet, but why are you here alone crying, what makes you cry?
The Buraq said; "When Allah created Buraq and told us that one of us would take the Prophet Muhammad, from that day on I cried never to stop."
The Buraq then said; “Yes Allah my heart is burning because of my love for the Prophet, and I ask You to be the Buraq who brought the Prophet Muhammad to Your heaven. From that day on I cried with love and longing for the Prophet Muhammad.
Gabriel said; "then it was you who I chose to bring the Prophet."
And Shaykh Muhyidin ibn Arabi said at that time also Buraq's tears stopped crying because of happiness that he would bring Muhammad. This is the sweet fruit of crying out of love and longing for the Prophet.
Make Your Eyes Cry for Love
Do you want to see the Prophet Muhammad? If you want to see the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ To show you to see Prophet Muhammad.
At night when everyone has fallen asleep, sit in a dark corner of the room, in darkness without light, then pray for Prophet Muhammad ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ and say; "Yes Sayyidii Ya Rasuluullah inni uhibuk. Yes Rasulullah adrikni. Salamu alayk Yes Rasulullah sallaAllahu`alayhi wasallam. Nazhra ya Rasulullah adrikna ya Rasulullah, unzhur alayna ya Rasulullah”.
"Behold us O Messenger of Allah, lift up our suffering, hold our hands, Nazhran minka ya Rasulullah tutahhiru bihaa qulubaana, adrikna ya Rasulullah Ya Sayyid al-Bashar Ya HabibAllah".
With this Prayer you will feel his presence, you will feel something. And then weep and weep all night long until the river of tears comes out of your eyes.
When you can cry out of love, then that is the sign that Sayyidina Muhammad ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ is looking at you. As soon as your tears come out, it means that the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ is looking at you. As the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ I see my people what they do, I observe them".
