...Kemenag Brief Tafsir....

Verse 55

This verse describes some evidence of the glory of Isa ibn Maryam. Remember, O Prophet Muhammad, when Allah says, “O Isa! I will make you or complete your existence in the world and lift you to Me, that is, to a glorious place without dying, and keep you away from the disbelievers and sanctify you, and make those who follow you who do not change your religion and who justify your prophethood over those who disbelieve in you by hiding the evidence of your apostleship until the day of the Resurrection. Then to Me you return, both those who believe in Jesus and those who disbelieve in Him, and I give a decision about what you dispute about Isa and the truth of the teaching he brings.”

Verse 56

Allah made it clear that the Jews who denied the Prophet Muhammad would be tortured with a painful torment both in the world and in the Hereafter.

The torment of the world will be upon them, they will be killed and taken captive and controlled by the Gentiles. The torment of the Hereafter is the punishment of Allah in the day of vengeance. At that time they will not get help from anyone.

Verse 57

Allah, explaining that those who believe and those who do righteous deeds, are the ones who justify the Prophet Muhammad and acknowledge his prophethood, acknowledge the Book he carries (Quran), practice all the commandments of Allah, and do not do anything, and leave all his prohibitions. Allah will perfect their reward, without any lack.

Furthermore, it is explained that people who have the opposite nature, meaning they have wronged themselves, they are not loved by God and will get a very painful torture.

Verse 58

Allah explained that the news was delivered to the Prophet Muhammad, about Jesus, Mary, Zachariah and his son Yahya, and the stories of the Hawites and the Jews of Israelite descent, and the stories of the Hawites, that is the true story and as a correction to various beliefs that were spread among the People of the Book at that time.

In this story there are various examples and valuable points of wisdom, so that believers can take guidance from it and understand the Shari'a of God and the principles of social life.

In the story there is clear evidence that rejects the opinion of the Christian messengers of the people of Najran and the opinion of the Jews who deny the treatise of Muhammad, and the religious truth that it brings.

Verse 59

This verse is revealed in connection with the arrival of the messenger of the Nazarenes who said to the Prophet, “Why do you denounce our Prophet?” The Prophet said, ”What have I said?” They said, “You said that Jesus was a servant of Allah”. Prophet Muhammad said, “Yes, it is true that he was a servant of Allah, an apostle and His sentence was delivered to Maryam, a holy virgin.”

Then they became angry and said, “Have you seen man born without a father? So when you are right show us an example.” Then Allah sent down this verse.

In this verse it is explained that the amazing event of Isa is like the creation of Adam, who was made from the ground, both created by God in ways other than the creation of ordinary man. Isa was created without a father, and Adam was created without a father and without a mother.

God created Adam as a man by giving the spirit into his body, solely because of His will and when God says: “Be it then be it.” (Ali Imran/3:59) In another verse Allah says: 'Ali Imran :

ثُمَّ اَنْشَأْنٰهُ خَلْقًا اٰخَرَ

… Later, We made him another (shaped) being. .. (al-Mu′minun/23: 14).

The above verse (59) is a series with the next two verses, descending in the year of the mission, the 10th year of the Hijri.

Verse 60

Meant by “It is the truth that comes from Lord” is that what Allah has preached to Muhammad saw, about Jesus and Mary it is not true what the Christians have said that Messiah is the son of God; nor did the Jews assume that Jesus was the result of adultery between Maryam and Joseph an-Najjar (Joseph the carpenter or Joseph the younger brother of Eli). Thus the Muslims had gained a convincing knowledge of Isa and Maryam.

Therefore, because the truth is from your Lord, therefore do not thou, O Prophet Muhammad, including those who doubt the process of creation of Prophet Isa ibn Maryam.

This prohibition is directed to the Prophet Muhammad so as not to doubt, when it is unlikely that the Prophet Muhammad will doubt the verse of Allah. It has two senses:

That the Prophet Muhammad at the time of hearing this verse increased his confidence and he was satisfied with his belief.

If the Prophet Muhammad who has a high position is forbidden to feel doubt about the truth of the story, then his people are more exposed to this prohibition.

Verse 60

After a few verses earlier, it was erroneously presented by the Christians that God had children, and showed evidence of their error, but they rejected it anyway, so as the last way to prove who is the most righteous among those who consider Isa as the son of God or Isa as the apostle of God, the prayer is changed. Whoever refutes you in this matter, namely the existence of Isa as an ordinary man and as a messenger of Allah, after you have obtained knowledge or knowledge about it, then say, O Prophet Muhammad, “Let us call our children and your children, our wives and your wives, ourselves and you too, and then let us change, that is, each of the dissenting parties prays to the Lord earnestly, that the curse of Allah be inflicted upon the liars.” It's just that, this event did not happen in the end, because the Najran Christians did not dare to come, because in their hearts they actually justified the apostolate of Prophet Muhammad.
