Agatha Anderson — Wishes, Agatha and Promises

...In the end, I was entangled by a rope I put myself....

"A—what does it mean?" stuttered because the instant the contents of his head seemed to blur disappeared hearing the sentence that his wife had just said.

"So my mom came to me and we talked. He asked me when he would give this family a descendant," Agatha broke free from Christ's arms which had frozen in silence.

"What did you answer then?"

"We both put work first and are not ready. But mother seemed dissatisfied with my answer and asked me to consider."

Christ did not know what to respond and responded to because if he gave the wrong answer then it was certain that the two of them would fight.

"Then you want me how?" a voice that was so hesitant and slow could be heard floating in his own ears. He did not want to expect his wife to grant it, because it was impossible.

"I don't know," the woman paused for a moment before continuing, "Why is this getting more complicated than I thought. I don't think there will be any questions or requests about the successor descent. And actually I've been getting the same questions from Gabriel or Joshua but it's different when I'm dealing with mom."

"Actually a while ago dad also asked me the same thing."

"Oh, when?"

"Some time ago when we got together on Zander's vacation."

"You didn't tell me?"

"I don't want to make you think as much as you do now. Even though in the end you get the same question from mom."

Agatha just kept quiet, because the solution to her problem was only one and it was impossible. A year of living with Christ has not been able to make her sure she has feelings for her husband. Maybe the comfortable feeling was there, he was no longer uncomfortable or awkward when Christ started to behave spoiled, he had also decided to be able to reciprocate Christ's attitude to him. But if you ask her if she's already in love, the answer may not be. His heart still felt dull, not the same as when he was with Mikael.

"Agatha..."

"Hm."

Christ looked at his wife so warmly and affectionately that a hint of doubt was also implied in the look in his eyes.

He held the woman back in his arms and then buried his face on the wife's shoulder.

"Did you still not love me, Sunshine?" he whispered rattlingly, whenever he thought of Agatha's feelings for him there was always a sense of pain tucked in his heart.

"Christ..."

"I'm just asking, it's okay if you don't love me yet. I'll wait."

Unable to give an answer, Agatha only sighed softly and then her fingers began to cast a soft black mane that belonged to the man on her shoulder. I don't know from when but he felt weak if Christ behaved like this, making him feel guilty.

"Didn't you feel anything when we were together, Sunshine? You don't beat when we're together?" ask Christ back in a whisper.

"Don't you feel anything when we hug and kiss each other? Even when both of us cuddle in sleep?"

This time Christ's voice sounded more raucous and slow, because it really felt heavy asking Agatha about it. Christ was afraid to hear the answer.

The movement of Agatha's hand stroking the man's hair came to a halt. And among the many things from Agatha that made her flutter were times like these. Though he was already feeling very happy because now Agatha wanted to return his attention. Should his hopes fall?

The wind blowing through the back garden veranda made the atmosphere in the afternoon too sad and stifling.

Christ tightened his embrace, "You don't have to answer my question, Sunshine. It's okay."

Agatha had no intention of answering that question because she did not know the answer. He did not want to hurt Christ's sincerity with his vagueness of feeling. And all he could do was return the embrace of Christ rubbing that strapping back gently.

"I'm sorry, Christ.." whispered so slowly along with the wind that hit their bodies.

That afternoon, the two felt a sense of anxiety about each other's feelings.

For Christ it was not about waiting for his wife to drop her heart, but every doubt and concern Agatha had hurt her. A sense of tightness and can not bear to see his wife is still confined in the sense of his past.

While Agatha couldn't decide if she should let go of her feelings for Mikael and open up to her husband? There is doubt and disrespect in him.

It's like being at an intersection between retreating in residual memories or advancing to carve out new, better memories. And Agatha was in the middle of that intersection unable to decide her steps.

A little pain from their serious talk yesterday still left a cloud in each other's hearts. And it was captured well by Arthur.

"You two got into a fight?" his question made everyone raise their heads to look at the two people who were asked.

"What's? We are fine," Christ replied a little too late and hurriedly drank the water offered by Agatha.

"Oh, I think there's something because your attitude is clear," raising his shoulders indifferently, Arthur returned to eating quietly with his little daughter and his wife.

"You love to make up, it's still morning and you're asking unpleasant questions" Christ said as he continued eating.

"I'm not making up, it's obvious. Isn't that right, Mother?" tanyanya asked for support for the mother who is now still focused on looking at the youngest son and daughter-in-law.

"You fought because of Mom's request?" this time the mother's voice interrupted everyone who was enjoying breakfast to refocus on the conversation.

"Why do you think that, Christ and I are fine. There was nothing to worry about" Agatha quickly responded because she did not want these talks to continue.

But Agatha was wrong, because instead the mother finished eating and put down her eating utensils.

"Mom doesn't mean to offend or make you feel uncomfortable. But mother's worries are not wrong, I just want simple things from you. Can't you guys grant it?"

"Mother, don't talk about this now," Christ tried to keep his mother from discussing about the descent again in front of Agatha.

"When then? You guys really don't want to have kids?" this time, my question. Winston stopped everyone at the dinner table. Jennie who understood the direction of the conversation chose to dodge and bring her little daughter to go to the front garden.

"It's not so, Mom. Agatha and I also want to have children, but not now. We've been talking about this."

"When? You want to have a child after mom's not around?"

"Mom!"

"Mother!"

The impact of the two men on her mother was quite shocking to Agatha, and seeing her mother-in-law was just as shocked.

Back to reality, ma'am. Winston turned his face to wipe away the tear in the corner of his eye.

"I'm sorry Mom, I didn't mean to hurt you..." Christ reached out and clasped his mother's fingers tightly.

Mrs. Winston shook his head softly, "Does mother sound so imposing a will on you?"

"Mom is getting older, we never know the age limit of a person. And before that happens, I want you to grant one wish."

Agatha and Christ could now only be silent while Arthur waited and observed them.

"Mother loves you so much. Your father's most precious treasure. Proof of our love, both of us" he said slowly and then looked back at Agatha and Christ.

"Don't you guys want it that way? You don't want to present a child as proof of your love?"

"Mom, we want to but we're not ready for that."

"Everybody will never be ready, Christ. Everything will work out of love and affection for each other. And with the presence of the child will actually add to your love bond."

Christ turned his face to look at Agatha who had been silent since. His wife must have thought hard again.

"Agatha, I love you as much as my own daughter. I hope you're not offended and accept mom's request."

Agatha smiled faintly before clasping her mother's hand back.

"I know, Mom. Thank you for loving me, and I'm sorry I haven't been able to be the perfect princess."

"You'll be perfect if you follow mother's advice, think back? This time I'm begging you."

"Mom, don't be like this..." Agatha felt a new burden now on her shoulder.

"Try first, honey?" the mother's insistence that made Agatha finally nodded.

"I'll try, Mom."

And one last sentence from Agatha's lips made Christ drop the glass in her hand.
