Christ curses himself on the way home from a meeting with Neona. His head felt as if he was about to explode because he had been holding back his emotions since then with great difficulty, his heavy breathing was painstakingly arranged for him to return to normal.
Goddamn bum.
The words that kept repeating within his head, made his attempt to temper his emotions useless as bad shadows swirled within his head.
How will he deal with Agatha after this?
He wanted to go home to see his wife but he was also afraid that Agatha might be suspicious. But will Agatha be that caring to him? Caring or not that clearly fears Christ about Neona's threat is not playful. All this time he has been struggling to forget his bad past, he has been feeling calm since Neona left his life many years ago until the woman returned again in his life.
Why should it be now, when her relationship and Agatha begin to improve.
Frustrated, Christ stops his car by the side of the road. Leaning his head on the wheel.
Is this karma for him?
Should he not be happy because he has taken the happiness of others ?
His hand slowly moved to contact someone who would always be the place to lean and complain.
"Leon.." he was helpless.
'A 'Christ? What's the matter, why is your voice so?'
Ah, this cousin of his is indeed always reliable under any circumstances. Though Christ deliberately did not tell the problem of Neona's return to Leon. But in the end it's useless because he'll definitely talk to Leon like he is now. Christ did not dare to complain to Arthur because he knew that his brother would definitely give strict action to him like before. And Christ is not being scolded at the moment.
'Hello? Christ's? you're still there, right?' leon's voice revived Christ from his daydream.
"Yes, I'm still here... Leon are you in the apartment? I'm going there, right?"
'Why should I ask? You always come suddenly no matter if I'm busy or not all this time.' protested his cousin across the street.
"Hm, I'll be there, then" and Christ returns to his cousin's apartment.
.......
.......
.......
It had been almost three hours since her cousin had come to her in such a messy mood.
Christ had told him everything, Leon was quite surprised because he himself knew the past of his hard-earned cousin being buried.
He thought that after their heated argument with Neona and the cancellation of the engagement, the woman would never return to this country again.
Leon gets angry when Christ tells him what Neona will do and his threat if Christ does not want to obey him. The woman is getting crazy apparently.
Staring sadly and also worried at Christ who is now asleep after drinking two bottles of whiskey, Leon moved to get a blanket. Just then the message notification from Christ's phone lit up.
From Neona.
^^^Come to the place I decided tomorrow.^^^
^^^You must obey my wishes, right? See you, Babe.^^^
Leon gritted his teeth furiously. How could that woman be so shameless? He should know Christ is now the man's husband. Urge annoyed Leon intends to talk about this seriously later after his cousin is aware later.
Leon just stepped foot when his own phone rang.
From Agatha.
"Agatha, you don't usually call me first. What's up?"
'Sorry to bother you all of a sudden, Leon. Do you know where Christ is? He did not reply or answer my call.'
"So you're worried about her?"
'Not really. It's almost midnight, I just want to make sure it's going, ' Agatha replied in a voice she sought sounded ordinary and indifferent.
Leon smiled realizing Agatha's concern for his cousin. At least Agatha cares about Christ.
"He's in my apartment. I was asleep" he answered honestly.
'Oh, okay. So he's not coming home?'
"It seems so, after all, he's not drunk and definitely can't drive."
'Didn't you say he was sleeping? So which is right?'
Leon chuckled, "She did fall asleep from a hangover. Don't worry, he drank because our work today was so tiring" he replied with a slight lie.
'Alright then,' replied Agatha who then fell silent in doubt, 'Leon...'
"Yes?"
'Do I need to send a driver there?'
'Oh, okay. Thanks Leon.'
After Agatha disconnected the phone, Leon abandoned his intention to pick up the blanket.
"It looks like your wife has started to fall in love with you, Christ."
"Tomorrow you must pay for my kindness to drive you home" he murmured with a triumphant smile.
And with great difficulty Leon brought Christ's larger body downstairs with the help of security. Of course Leon did not want to die or faint by carrying Christ's heavy body from the 13th floor.
.......
.......
.......
Agatha immediately stepped foot as her apartment doorbell rang.
"Geez!" he said surprised by the arrival of Leon who had seen fatigue carrying Christ's body.
Agatha held one arm of Christ helping Leon to bring her husband to the room. After successfully dropping Christ's body on the bed, Leon immediately collapsed with his hands holding his neck and waist.
"You all right? Take a break first," Agatha went to the kitchen to get a drink while Leon moved into the living room and sat on his back on the couch.
"Christ has to pay a lot for this" he grumbled.
"Leon, here's a drink" Agatha offered a glass of water to Leon who was drinking in one go by her cousin.
"Thanks, Agatha."
"Yes. I didn't think he was the least aware of it, I should have sent the driver to pick him up. Sorry to make you trouble."
"Agatha, her body is bigger than mine. It felt like my breath was only one or two strokes away while carrying it."
"sorry. I will repay your kindness today, Leon," said Agatha, feeling bad for her kind cousin who escorted Christ, perhaps she should have let her husband stay there.
"How much did he drink?"
"Two bottles of whiskey, alone."
Agatha did not expect Christ to be that strong when it comes to drinking, yes of course Agatha would rather smoke than alcoholic beverages.
"What is the problem of your work that makes it so chaotic? Honestly this is the first time I've seen Christ this drunk" Agatha said, because Christ said he only drank alcohol when he was really in a state of mindfulness.
"Em— the problem is a little heavy but I think we can handle it. Alright I should also go home soon," Leon smiled then moved towards the door.
"Thanks, Leon."
"Together, Agatha,"
Leon had almost closed the door but his steps came to a halt and turned around, "Agatha?" calling him made the name owner turn to him again.
"Hm?"
"I don't know how the relationship between you guys is but I want you to believe in the sincerity of Christ's love for you. I hope you two are always happy" said it with a smile and Leon closed the door and left Agatha still silent thinking what she meant.
Agatha stepped back into her room and looked at Christ who was still wrapped in full clothes. Whether she should change her husband's clothes or not. He had never done anything like this before, no one had been drunk to the point of being unconscious between Gabriel or Joshua all this time. But it was impossible to let the man rest in such a state.
Sighing deeply, Agatha walked up to her husband and then took off her shoes and socks to make him move and lay sideways.
"Christ don't face there, how do I take your tie off?" gerutu Agatha pushed slowly on Christ's shoulder to get back on his back so he managed to take off his tie.
Agatha had difficulty removing the suit attached to her husband's body because Christ's body was large and heavy if she had to lift it a little, not to mention that her husband moved unconsciously to change his sleeping position. And after nearly ten minutes the suit finally slipped from Christ's body which he immediately threw to the floor in annoyance.
"That's enough, right?" he muttered then removed the two buttons on the shirt so that the man was not crowded.
Agatha intended to pull the blanket to lie down beside Christ as her arm was suddenly pulled by the man making her limp and fall on Christ's body.
"Christ?" he was surprised and tried to get up.
"... Agatha, don't go.." muttered the man unconsciously, his two arms hugging Agatha's body tightly. While the one being hugged was still shocked.
"...Don't ever leave my—... don't.." he murmured slowly.
Agatha was only speechless listening to her husband, raised her head and looked at the still unconscious figure. Staring slowly at the face of the man who had been almost a year and a half living with him.
A man who is always patient in dealing with his selfishness and also sometimes unfriendly attitude. A man who would wait for him for a year more to open his heart. And Agatha did not know if now her heart had been fully focused on this man.
Striking and smiling thinly Agatha slowly spread her head over Christ's chest, hearing the beating of her heart and the rhythm of her breathing slowly. Her hands no longer kept the distance between their bodies, returning the embrace of her husband slowly.
Maybe he stepped so slowly.
And maybe things can be too late.
But that doesn't mean he has to stop walking, does it?
And maybe in his slow rhythm there is someone who is always patient waiting for him while extending his hand.
And Agatha knew she was going to grab that helping hand.
