Agatha Anderson — Sinners Who Seek Forgiveness

...The greatest day in your life and mine is when we take total responsibility for our attitudes. That's the day we really grow up....

.......

.......

.......

Christ opened his eyes with gasping breath and a sweat drenched him. Several times his eyes blinked in search of an awareness of his existence that was completely different from before.

Am I dreaming?

With a cold sweat on his forehead, he was still in his patient room and asleep there. This room always managed to bring his nightmares back, his fear back and the guilt that pressed him down like a rock.

The vibration of the phone beside him made him turn to answer the call from Leon.

"Hm, what's wrong?" he replied slowly, his head still felt spinning and he felt weak without energy.

'You! Where the hell have you been? You're crazy, you disappeared all of a sudden?' his cousin shouted from across the street.

"I'm not going anywhere, didn't I tell you I was going to meet Arthur at home? And it seems like I fell asleep after our conversation, "he replied resignedly because he himself did not do it on purpose.

'You're not lying, are you? I also called Arthur but he said he didn't know where you were after you guys finished talking. What's the matter exactly?'

Christ let out a long sigh, "As I told you if the conversation with Arthur would only make me feel that way again. I don't know what to do now."

'I can't say anything if that discussion goes there. But it looks like you should check your phone right now if you don't want anything bad to happen.'

Christ frowned confusedly, "What's the matter?"

'Agatha's been looking for you since then and she asked me. He doesn't seem to believe that I'm not with you, ' Leon explained.

'Just kill it first. Quickly open your phone.'

Christ immediately shifted his phone screen and noticed there were dozens of messages and also missed calls from Agatha and Leon. Christ glanced at the number bar that showed the current clock. At 03:15 in the morning and it's been almost seven hours he's been here. He didn't tell Agatha, and her wife must have been looking for him.

Christ hesitated as his hands trembled with will press the call to his wife's number. The feeling he experienced just now still felt real and disturbed him. The fear of guilt came back to him and he could not speak to Agatha now.

Wh why?

Why should now those feelings and nightmares come back?

If Agatha knew the truth one day, would she still accept it, but now she could open her heart to him?

Christ sat down staring at the white marble floor under his feet, his head already dizzy thinking about the worst possibilities that might happen. And he hopes all the bad luck won't happen.

Just then her phone again vibrated and popped Agatha's name on her screen. His hand slowly grabbed the thing, hesitating to answer it and finally Christ simply ignored the call.

He could not face Agatha with her current state.

.......

.......

.......

Agatha has repeatedly tried to call Christ's number but has not received an answer since. He had contacted Leon and the man had no idea where Christ was after returning from the office.

It's not usually like this.

The days are usually Christ will shower him with text messages and will also call several times. But today there was no news other than this afternoon when she asked to tell her husband that she would be home late for leaving with Joshua and Felix.

But when Agatha came home at ten in the night, the man was not in their apartment. Agatha began to worry a little when it was late at night but there was no news from her husband.

All messages are sent but not read. The call from him was connected but not answered.

Could something happen?

But if something bad happens, Leon or his family will tell you, right?

Agatha was actually already very sleepy but could not sleep quietly because of the thought of Christ's whereabouts. Agatha had even finished a glass of milk and a cup of coffee while waiting. It was almost morning and he had to go to bed soon. If Christ doesn't come home tomorrow, he'll go to the Winston residence to find him.

.......

.......

.......

Christ walks out of his room intending to go home to his apartment before Agatha might look for him. Just then her mother was sitting with a tense face in the front room.

"Mother?" her sweep made the woman turn her head and smile faintly at him.

"You haven't come home yet? How you doing, son?" tanyanya then reached out asking that her son sit beside her.

"Mom's home yet?" christ asked slowly, knowing his mother must have come home late at night from the hospital.

His mother smiled even though Christ could still see the tension on that face.

"Mom heard everything from Arthur. Why do you have to be like this? Neona's arrival has indeed given mother a bad feeling. Christ, you can't obey that woman anymore. I'll talk to Neona."

"Don't Mom, this time let me finish it my way. Mom and Arthur have done a lot for me so this time please trust me."

"But you're just gonna repeat that bad time back, son. I don't want to see you back traumatized like you used to. Or let your sister talk to Neona."

"No, Ma. Please let me just this time. Anyway it seems like sooner or later I have to deal with it."

"But Christ, what about Agatha? I'm worried you're going to have a hard time because of this, "it's clear that worry is looming on the mother's face clutching her son's fingers tightly.

His heart seemed to be squeezed when Arthur told Christ's condition earlier. His son had borne a lot of burden and regret all this time.

Doesn't that son deserve to be happy too?

"Well, I'll try to believe and let you finish this. But when you can't stand it and feel heavy, you have to tell your mom or sister. Understood?"

Christ smiled and hugged his mother with great novelty and regret, tears welling up in the corners of his eyes. He is grateful and lucky to have his family. Even if he made an unforgivable mistake but his family did not just throw it away. They were angry and punished but at the same time they also grabbed his hand, grabbed him and protected him.

"Thank you, Mum. Love you so much" he whispered to the mother who hugged and rubbed her back warmly.

.......

.......

.......

His footsteps were slow and hesitant when he was in front of the door.

Maybe he convinced others that he was okay, but only he knew how hard he felt right now.

Christ opened the door slowly, not wanting to make any noise that might wake Agatha up because it was now six in the morning and usually his wife was still asleep in her sleep.

Turning on the living room light, Christ was shocked to see Agatha sleeping on the sofa with her hand still holding the phone.

Did Agatha fall asleep while waiting for her to come home?

His heart felt heavier thinking about it. Then slowly Christ approached and rested in front of his wife.

He was slowly wearing a beautiful face while trying not to wake his heart.

"I'm sorry, Agatha."

His whisper was faintly barely audible and the heavy weight was again shed in tears that slowly descended on his cheeks. Sobbing quietly Christ closed his mouth so as not to wake Agatha.

"I'm sorry, sorry..."
