A few days without meeting Selena did make the atmosphere of the office feel different. Although not close, in fact, the presence of someone gives meaning and color to others. So does Dexter, just in the presence of Selena, Dexter's heart feels a little calmer.
As he promised this morning when he came, this afternoon he invited Selena to lunch together. Due to his heartache, Selena agrees to accompany Dexter to lunch.
In the cafe that has been several times Dexter visited, both choose the menu fried rice seafood and iced tea.
"How are you doing Selena after these three days?"
Dexter's question broke the silence between the two.
"Ah, I'm good sir."
"But why does your face indicate you're not okay?"
"There's nothing, sir."
"You can tell me whatever it is, I've agreed that outside the company you can consider me a friend, right?"
Hesitatingly, Selena tries to tell Dexter a bit of a story, and there are absurd questions about the angel who came down to Earth.
"Hmm, Mr Dexter do you believe that an angel can descend into the world?"
Dexter is surprised by Selena's question. Just this time, his secretary was asking him something outside of work. Dexter seemed to be frowning, could Selena possibly know the fact about the angel who descended into the world?
"Why Selena? Did you meet an angel?" Ask Dexter while drinking his drink.
"Ah, no... Could it be that angels came down to the world? I'm just thinking about it sir. No other meaning." Selena replied while hiding her anxiety.
"What if it's possible?" Again Dexter asked Selena, and this time Dexter gave the possibility that it might be possible for an angel to descend into the world.
Selena exhaled for a moment, "Come sir, these few days I've always thought of that. It felt impossible, but what if it happened?" Selena replied as she stirred her iced tea with a pipette in her hand.
"Want to hear my story, Selena?"
"Yes, sir. Please, I'll listen."
"I've heard stories... Many years ago there was a story that said that God sent his angel to come down to the world. He chose one of the many angels he had, to receive and carry out His mission. Why did he choose angels? Because an angel is a servant, whose duty is to serve. Is there any angel sent? Of course, there are, but still only He knows, and He will send whoever He wants to send. A few years ago, I heard that there was a young angel sent by God. A young angel who is skilled with art and music. One day, as the young angel was playing the harp in the cool daylight, God gave him a mission to look after a girl who also had talent in art."
Dexter sighed a little, then he continued the story.
"The young angel, without much reckoning, accepted the mission, and immediately his master sent him down to Earth. At first the young angel succeeded with his mission, to look after a beautiful young girl and she was a very talented pianist. However, one day the young angel had made a mistake, he fell in love with the young girl he was guarding. Until one day, His punishment was inevitable. He took the young girl from his side. And, now that the young angel was trapped in the human world, all he did was futility. The morning came, the night came, the day changed, and so on, but his life had lost its direction and purpose. It comes alive in the middle of a fire pit and is ready to burn at any time. That's the story I've heard about the young angel." Indeed it is a story about Dexter himself, but it is impossible for him to explain clearly that he was the fallen angel.
Selena listened attentively to what Dexter was telling her.
"That means angels can indeed descend into the human world?" Ask Selena.
"But what if the case is reversed, what if it is the human who falls in love with the angel?" Ask Selena again.
Dexter stared at Selena for a moment, wondering if Selena met an angel and fell in love with her?
"Did you meet an angel and fall in love with him?" Dexter's asking questions about the truth that Selena might be hiding.
"Ah, no. Isn't that ridiculous?" This time Selena laughs, she realizes isn't it silly to fall in love with an angel?
"If it's not you, you better not do it before both get God's punishment." This time Dexter seriously warns Selena.
"If the girl was just hiding her feelings? Without expecting her feelings to be reciprocated how?"
"Everything has consequences, Selena. Aren't you afraid of the consequences that you can have?"
"Content Sir... I've been feeling like a fool and a fool lately." Selena smiled bitterly. "Could fate play a role in someone's life?" There was a tinge of disappointment in Selena's words.
"No! There is no fate that plays on a person's life. That doesn't exist. Because everything that happens under this sky is his permission. The sun rises and sets because of his permission, so does man. Everything that happens in human life because of His permission. Nothing happens beyond His control." Dexter's explanation was long, as his eyeballs stared at Selena.
While Selena began to think about the steps she would take in the future.
"But, did not the feeling of liking grow because of His permission? When He gives love, grows it, why should there be a punishment behind it?" Selena asked Dexter a question.
"Selena, if that's not what I know. But one thing is certain. Man must coexist with man, not with other creatures..."
Hearing Dexter's words, Selena recalled Daniel's words, immediately cutting off Dexter's words. "... Because it's an absolute law. Is that right, sir?" Selena raised her eyebrows.
Dexter nodded his head, "Yes, because it's an absolute law, and you already know it."
Selena finally looks resigned, not because her first love is unrequited, but the effort to fight for her first love was rather like netting the wind, in vain.
"I already know the answer Sir. Thank you for responding to my silly question." This time Selena is determined to end her question, after all she already knows the answer and what to do in the future.
"It's great to answer your question, Selena. And, you can ask me anything, I'd be happy to answer." Dexter said with a smile on his face.
