Nora, Daren, and Isaiah were already in one car to return to the hotel where they were both staying. Everything was going well, not the drag Nora had imagined.
Nora had imagined him to be homeless in Dubai which was full of glittering luxury because he did not have a penny to buy food let alone bring it home. Apparently, there are still good people in this world, Isaiah is an angel to her.
"I'm so sorry to hear your whole story. Last night was a tragic event" Isaiah explained from the steering wheel. Rather glanced towards Daren beside him or Nora who was sitting in the back seat.
"Things like that have happened several times. Most of those who do are uneducated, they're a lot of racists, let alone Asian people."
"I'm just guessing, but you're not Asian, are you?" nora said from the back seat.
"Daren, didn't you tell her about me?" Isaiah asked Daren.
"Why did I tell her about you?"
"You said Nora worked with you to write your biography. I'm the most important person in your life, I should have been in that bogja" Isaiah said.
"You're not important" said Daren coldly.
Isaiah patted his forehead. "Yes, whatever. But I'm the one who's been the one who's getting you praised on campus because you're a standout student rather than your asshole friends."
"That's not important."
Isaiah shook his head. "I don't think Nora likes it when you stay cold like this."
"Focus on driving, or I'll replace." Daren's lost his temper.
"OK, relax, man!" Isaiah laughed a little. Nora was just dumbfounded from behind.
The car stopped at the hotel parking lot. The sound of waves filling the void. Nora could feel the cool beach breeze as she got out of the car. He was relieved to be able to get to this place, as if his help was already in sight.
"I'll find Juan and Doni. They were in my room. You don't disappear, because after this we'll go straight home!" daren orders Nora who nods innocently to him.
Daren walks into the hotel while running.
Nora sighed. Enjoying the caress of the beach breeze that flies her hair.
"If I were you, I wouldn't be able to survive with Daren for fifteen days. You've been great all this time" Isaiah said. He's out of the car. He was sitting in the face of the car staring at Nora.
"Work demands, how else."
"Working under pressure, surely it's one of the conditions for working in your office."
Nora looked towards the crowded beach instead of answering Isaiah. This is probably his last time seeing Dubai beach. Why waste this opportunity.
"Hey, where are you going?" isaiah asked as Nora ran towards the sandy soil.
"Last vacation before you go home" said Nora. His voice blurred in the wind.
Isaiah stared at the door of the hotel that was still closed. There's no sign of Daren coming out. He followed Nora until he reached the shore.
Nora sneaks into the crowd wearing bikinis and color pants. Some play beach volleyball and some make sand castles. Isaiah is more interested in following Nora until it reaches the beach.
Nora breathed in some fresh air once again. He closed his eyes, then spread his hands. "For all my lost memories, I hope you can still come back."
Isaiah hears Nora's plea even though the girl says it in a whisper.
"I need you, because only you can make me feel like I'm not alone."
Nora imagined all the memories that had been imprinted on her mind. Memories he had with those closest to him. Suddenly he wanted to get to Indonesia, where the people closest to him were. Then he will feel safe.
"Sorry, I'm weird, huh?" Nora kicked sand under her feet.
Isaiah is serious. "It seems your memories are so sweet."
Nora laughs. "Yes, until I can't forget it even if it's just a small part of it."
"What sweet? You can tell me."
Nora shook her head. "I can tell you in person if my phone wasn't robbed, that's where all my memories are."
Isaiah flabbergasted. "So, you're praying your photos aren't lost?"
"Yes" said Nora satisfied. "The pictures are memories I mean."
Isaiah sighed. "I thought you were praying for something more important."
Nora changed emotions. "Photos are important" he said. "You'll remember what you forgot years ago just because you saw a picture. That's the magic of photos."
Isaiah scratched his nape. "Yes yes .. I understand."
"Don't underestimate me, isaiah. I'm not lying."
Isaiah nodded once more. "May your photos be backed up in icloud so you can download them again and remember them again" he explained, holding back a laugh. Nora just looked at him cynically because his words were considered a joke.
"Dora!!" yelled Daren from a distance.
Nora and Isaiah had not realized that anyone had called them. That's why the two are still laughing freely while creating jokes and laughing at each other.
Juan and Doni must lift their legs to pull them from the beach to the front of Daren.
Nora almost jumped when she realized there was a big man standing next to her. "Boss called you."
Nora looked back, there was Daren standing in front of the car. That's the car they're gonna use to get him to the airport.
"I have to go back" said Nora.
"I'll take you to the airport. How's it?"
"You better ask Daren."
"He will allow it." Isaiah marched with Juan and Nora to the front of Daren. No need to ask for approval. DAren was just staring flat and it was not a problem for Isaiah to drive them all the way to the airport.
The three cars went together. Nora is in a car with Daren who is busy telling Juan about last night's events. Nora eavesdropped a little, Daren could have made demands to the tram owner that endanger his passengers for working with bandits. Juan just nodded in understanding and gave no advice because it was not his authority.
Soon, they arrived at the airport. Fortunately, Daren was able to easily get the balance from the stolen credit card. He can pour as much money as he can, even ordering first class level seats to return to Indonesia.
"When did the plane take off?" ask Isaiah as soon as they get to the airport.
"About another hour."
"Thank God. I'm glad to see you guys. Good road!" Isaiah hugged Nora at a glance. He had already halfway wanted to hug Daren, but the man quickly dodged. "If you come to Dubai, you must stop by my house. Not just when he's robbed."
"I'll work on it" said Daren. Nora also smiled and nodded at him.
"Now, Daren's friend has become Nora's friend too. Remember that!" the message was while leaving the airport to return home.
Nora still leaves a smile until Isaiah's car disappears from view.
