chapter 5

A week after the incident, we met often. Sometimes we gather by the river for lunch.

At that time Ruiner and I were sitting on a bench near the river. Laura came to bring tea and a little pastry. Laura is not working today. We can also gather today.

we were happy to relax while enjoying a sunny day on the river bank.

I don't know why today feels so different. My gut tells me that something bad is going to happen. Never mind, I thought. I better not think bad bad. I also put the cup I was holding. I lay down on the prairie while looking at the sky.

Watching the clouds with friends is fun. Ruiner was still eating the cake that Laura had brought. And Laura was sitting next to me who was also looking at the clouds.

He said from above the stone that had flown hit the exit of the city leading to the hill Wayene. But how can it be ?

A huge boulder was thrown across the city and hit the exit twenty-seven kilometers away from the outside area.

I still did not understand what was going on here. First there was a huge stone thrown over twenty-seven kilometers, and it destroyed the main exit gate that was five hundred meters wide. Then, what are the hundreds of royal troops doing in the middle of the main road ?

Not long after that, everyone was asked to stay home and take shelter in a safe place. It seems outside there is a war.

I still don't know exactly what's going on. But I better follow the directions given. And also take shelter in a safe place.

Me, Laura, and Ruiner immediately went home. We decided to meet again next week.

One week later, at the same place on the riverbank, we met again. I asked a little about their condition. But, I wonder why the army that was yesterday has not returned.

But, forget it. Besides today I have to buy food for the next week. Everyone else's activities have returned to normal. Maybe I should think about finding a job. At a minimum, you can provide daily food for yourself. So that the money I have from the inheritance does not run out quickly. I'll start with gardening.

We went to the market to buy food. This time Laura came with us. I also asked Laura a little about gardening. He often saw his mother gardening in his house. "Usually mothers grow vegetables like carrots and potatoes" she says.
