I tried to close my eyes. With my body still trembling I tried to feel the door, looking for the doorknob to open and ran.
"Damn." as hard as I searched, but the doorknob I didn't find. It seems like my distance to the door is still quite far. To open my eyes and see where the door is I can't. That fear took hold of me, forcing me to stay closed.
The smooth swish below felt so cold. Like there was a breath coming when I exhaled. The stinging scent of smell penetrates into the lungs. Nausea and want to vomit suddenly come. I tried to hold my breath, but apparently down there was still that horrible figure. It felt from the touch of cloth attached to my feet, and also a cold breath that felt like blowing my face. My stomach churned, forcing the contents to be taken out. As much as I can hold back so that my defense does not break down.
I try to read short letters that I memorize. Fortunately, I learned to teach while I was at home eating. Little by little I began to learn to memorize and try to practice reading short letters. Regretting why I didn't learn it all.
The breath was no longer felt in my face. The atmosphere of the room was also suddenly quiet and warm. Not like before that it felt cold and gripping. Slowly I tried to open my eyes. There was no one in the room. Even the Ratih I thought was sleeping in the room was nowhere to be seen. I ran out, looking for a mother who wasn't sleeping.
"Mom, Ratih's gone" I said spontaneously. The mother who was preparing to go to sleep immediately woke up and approached.
"Lost how? Don't make it up." said Mom, hitting my arm.
"Train is not in the room, ma'am" I said in half a whisper.
"Try looking back. I just passed your wife in the kitchen. But..." Mother did not continue her words. It seems that Mom is thinking something.
"But what, Mom?" I made him curious.
"Hurry up here." Mom pulled my arm out and walked into the kitchen. Like two thieves who were afraid of being discovered by the owner of the house, Mom and I walked slowly and quietly.
"What's up, Mom? Why are we like this?" manya curious. The thumb placed its index finger in front of the mouth, signaling that I should remain silent.
"Look, that's your wife. Weird right?" ask Mom while pointing towards Ratih. I watched my wife's movements. There was nothing strange, it was just that Ratih just stood up and fell silent without doing anything. Ratih stood facing the exit to the well behind the house. Even the exit was still tightly closed, then why did Ratih stare at the door for so long.
"Your wife was like that. I've been rebuked, but she's quiet." said Mother slowly.
"Why didn't you tell me?"my many.
"Mother has knocked on your door many times, but you're silent. There is no lawfulness. I thought you were fighting. That's why I'm afraid if I keep calling you or persuading your wife." replied Mother with a trembling body.
I thought hard, if you've knocked on the door so many times then why don't I hear your knock on the door and Mom's call at all? Even the atmosphere of the house was also very quiet, there was no sound including the night animals.
"Dik." I called Ratih my wife. The woman I had married for nearly six years seemed silent. There was no response from him. He just stood up and kept staring at the door to the back of the house.
"Dik." I ventured to get to him. I pat her slowly on the shoulder.
"Brruuuggg.." The body collapsed and collapsed. Fortunately, I was still able to hold it so that Ratih did not fall to the floor.
"Please open the room door, ma'am."
"Here, give me this." Mother gave wind oil to apply under Ratih's nose.
My mother has been quick to help me take care of Ratih who looks weak and very pale. Even his body looks very thin. I did not feel my tears dripping when I saw his condition so alarming.
"Pprraaanggg.." there was a sound of objects falling from the kitchen. I rushed to run when I didn't approach Mom in the room with us.
"Mom, what's wrong?"
Seen Mother who sat in the corner with a position hugging the knee.
"Ha-hadi, there's a baby there" said Mom, pointing down at the table. I looked down at the table, but found nothing there.
"What baby, Mom?" manya curious. I'm not arguing, because it's something I'm used to.
"Baby, his face is broken. Her skin was red and peeling." Mom's story was broken.
I told Mom to get up and give her a glass of water. In the sip until the toilet is not left.
"I-mom is so scared, Hadi" said Mother with trembling hands.
"Radise. How's him?" mother's question made me realize. I forgot that I also left Ratih alone in the room. Rushing we ran and entered the room and found Ratih sitting on the edge of the bed facing the window.
"Train." I approached Ratih. Trained to look and smile. But not relieved, but Ratih's smile looks creepy. The grin that Ratih showed made Mother step back slowly. Train stood up, walked closer towards Mother, and followed Mother who retreated in fear. Mom's step stopped when Mom's body hit my body which was just standing glued. Seeing the condition of Ratih like this makes my heart hurt. Can't bear to see Ratih suffer so much.
"Sik." I tried to hold Mom's body and hide it behind my body. I tried to resuscitate Ratih by shaking his shoulders.
"Conscious, Dik. Aware."
Ratih just stared fixedly at me. Both of her eyelids were blackened, her skin was deathly pale and her lips were bluish. I patted her a little hard on both of her shoulders hoping she would come to her senses.
"Aarrrkkkhhh.." Ratih's two hands strangled my neck tightly. Very strong grip both hands to make me lose. Mother who tried to help and release the hand Train even pushed him to bounce.
"Conscious, Nduk. Conscious. Istighfars." Mother shouted hoping that Ratih would stop and let go of her grip. But precisely Ratih even looked increasingly angry and tightened his grip made my breath gasp. Before my eyes darkened, I heard Mom reading the chair verse aloud. Time and again I read the letter and saw that Ratih's grip began to loosen. Ratih looked confused, he took off one of his hands and tried to cover his ears. I who was aware of this situation tried to release the grip of Ratih's other hand.
"Aadrkkhh..." Ratih yelled as I managed to get his hands off my neck and lock them in the back. With Mom's help, I tied Ratih's body with a scarf and tied it to the edge of the bed.
"I'm sorry, Mom, Dik." I said softly. My tears trickled seeing Ratih rebelling and screaming to be let go.
