"So, explain it to Mom. What exactly happened to Ratih?" My mother-in-law immediately asked me a question when I just closed the car door.
"What's wrong, Mom?" I was sitting on a chair on the porch of my in-laws' house. Instead of answering my question, she cried as much as I could to the point of confusion.
"Mom, what's wrong?" I was getting confused when Mom's sobs were getting louder.
"Train, Ratih is not like he usually is." said Mother as much as she pleased.
"I mean Mom?"
"You see for yourself." asked Mom to ask me to come in.
Ratih is invisible in the middle room. He was not in the room either. I searched the whole room, without calling him first. I just want to see how my wife is doing.
"Here." My mother asked me to follow her. It looks like Ratih is humming and looks like he is holding something in his hand.
"When's he been like that, ma'am?" I asked my mother about the same condition that Ratih had when he was with me in our house.
"Since you left him here. I think you already know, so I don't ask anymore." so Mother again. I took a long breath. Sadness re-emerged when I saw the condition of my wife who apparently was still the same when I was not with her.
"Mom, Hadi wants to talk to Mom." I pulled Mom's arm slowly. Invite him back to sit on the porch and close the front door hoping Ratih does not suddenly appear from inside. Mom followed and sat down with me.
"Mom, is it true that Ranti died from being killed?" ask me with a vibrating voice. Mother who was looking down looked at me instantly with eyes that I somehow difficult to understand.
"You know where it came from?"
Slowly, there flowed the story I heard from Ratih about her twin sister. From the beginning they meet a man to the events where Ranti lost her honor. I even told her how Ranti died, which both her parents thought was due to depression and chose to end her life. It seems my mother-in-law doesn't know the whole thing. All he knows, Ranti is depressed and chooses to end her life with her birth baby.
"Mbak Ranti is with us, Mom. Almost every night his spirit appeared and disturbed us." I said softly.
"You sure?" it seems that Mom still half-believes what I told her. I nodded giving certainty.
"What a pity your fate is, son." I'm back sobbing. Seen once he looks very hit with the condition of his son.
"So, Ratih is so because of Ranti?" back Mother asked. I nodded back.
"What can you do, Di? While your father's condition you know for yourself, right?" back I took a deep breath considering that Mother would be troubled and must be burdened with the condition of the current Father-in-law and added with Ratih who acted like that.
"O Allah, how long will I go through this ordeal?" I murmured while restoring my hair in a ruffled manner. My head suddenly felt dizzy. I buried my face in both palms of my hands. Trying to figure a way out of all this. So too with my mother-in-law. He looked worried and sad. I shouldn't have told him all this if I ended up making Mom look depressed. But I also cannot hide the true condition of Ratih to his parents. At least they should know what happened to his daughter.
"Mas Hadi." a voice could be heard calling to divert my and Mother's anger. We turned to the source of the voice. Ratih stood behind the front door that did not know when it was open. I didn't hear it at all.
"Eh, Dik." I approached my wife who was still standing with a smile on her lips. Immediately he crucified my hand and kissed it solemnly. It feels like Ratih looks very normal like this.
"New gold is coming?" he asked me what I answered with a nod of my head.
"Let's go in. I make you a drink first." take her while pulling my hand to follow her. Mom just fell silent as she looked at us pass inside. Even so, looks worried face when staring at our departure.
"Mas, have you eaten?" ask my wife softly. I really feel peaceful if indeed Ratih has healed completely.
"Mas." call Ratih disperse my reverie.
"Why see me like that?" Ratih seemed to blush as I stared at him continuously. I smiled at her adorable manner.
"Mas kangen is the same as you, Dik." I yelled as I pinched the tip of his average-sized nose. Ratih's face looked red. Shamefully Ratih pulled the bench and sat down to line me up.
The smell of jasmine flowers gushed, piercing my sense of smell. I dare not ask. I was just trying to sniff out where that pungent scent came from. Ratih is spoiled. Putting his head on my shoulder. He's not usually like this. Although he was in the middle of longing, usually Ratih will only be spoiled on me when we are in the room. Ratih never wanted to show our affection in front of others even though it was our own parents.
"Dik." call me shrewd. The trainer I called her name just looked up at me and then re-inserted her head between my armpits.
"Silver. I want to meet you first." said I hope Ratih ended his profitable session and let me meet with the Father-in-law who was lying in the room.
"Later. I'm still missing, Mas." he said in a spoiled tone. I'm increasingly convinced that the current condition of Ratih is not okay. The smell of jasmine flowers on the head of Ratih makes me dizzy and makes my stomach contents churn. If only the smell of jasmine flowers, of course, it will not be this good. Because I think the smell of white and small flowers is very fresh if inhaled in small quantities. But the scent I inhaled this time it did not just come from jasmine flowers. Rather a mixture of jasmine flowers, roses and flowers. The aroma is often smelled when in the flower market or in the tomb.
I shuddered when I imagined that Ratih would suddenly change his attitude and form like that time. My heart was suddenly anchored fast like being chased by something terrible. Added to the gaze of the two eyeballs of Ratih who suddenly just stared fixedly at me, making my hair immediately bristled. The cold felt spread, making the heart rhythm faster and the blood rippled faster.
A smile Ratih gave me. But instead of being happy, the smile felt terrible when I saw it.
"Glassman..."
