Azea should be back in the brain today. No, for today he was not short of money at all. The money he had in his savings was still enough for their eating needs as well as the need for medicine for his mother, but he was sure that it would not last long. In the end the money will run out and he will have to search again.
The problem here is that this is the last day she works at that mini-restaurant. His contract is up, and he has not found a replacement job until now if he has stopped working at the mini-restaurant. He also did not receive a contract extension from his boss. Inevitably today she had to rack her brains to find a new job as soon as she completed her final task today.
"I heard that this is your last day working at that restaurant, yeah. Are you applying for a job somewhere else?" ask Jessica over the phone. Azea herself is currently at the mini restaurant and is cleaning the table while talking to Jessica over the phone.
"Yes, that's it. Actually I've been searching since yesterday, whether it's through newspapers or electronic applications. I've found some of them and I'm sending files there."
Jessica who heard that clearly prayed for Azea to be accepted, even if only in one place. At least Azea's income will remain after this.
"No calls for a job interview yet?" ask Jessica. Azea smiled bitterly because indeed until now of all he did there was no place to contact him for a job interview. He tried to think positively that there might be many other applicants so that the place that needs the workers is also still selecting and has not yet arrived the turn.
"Well, for now it doesn't exist because there are only a few places that I go. Actually there is still a workplace on my list that even I myself have not sent files there. So even if in some of these places I'm not welcome, I might be able to try others."
"Alright, I hope you can get another job soon after this. And if you can, do not take a job that is too heavy especially to interfere with college time."
Azea smiled. "Well, of course. Thanks for everything Jessica. If you see any more job openings, maybe you can recommend it to me. More would be much better."
The phone connection was cut off after Jessica said goodbye. Azea refocused on her work. For some reason, however, he tried to think positively that later he would get a new job, there was always a worry that arose in his smallest heart. In this kind of situation that was the most sinister thing he would never expect at all. Losing a job and no income at all.
Today Azea is very hard-earned to focus on her work. Even so, he managed to do his last job perfectly. No problems happened today, even if they were just minor problems.
It felt like Azea was eager to say goodbye to her other co-workers. It seemed that hope was dashed, the hope that his employment contract was extended. Maybe his boss has other candidates who might be better than him. If not, then it was certain that his boss would maintain his position in this restaurant.
Azea only smiled after her boss gave her the last paycheck before she had to leave the restaurant. Azea took a deep breath. At least his savings are still enough for their eating needs about two weeks. He still has time to find another job.
This is where he needs to start again. This is where he has to fight to get a job. In these circumstances, of course, he does not have a reliable passive income in times of emergency. In the past he did try to sell writing such as articles, novels, short stories, poems, or any literary work that can be loaded on a website that can give him income even if not too much. But I don't think he has time to do that at all. He was already too busy with his college assignments as well as his extremely draining part-time job. If he was trying to earn a passive income through his work, perhaps he would not sleep for twenty-four hours every day. And it would obviously kill him slowly.
Today Azea sent a job application to a cake shop in the cashier position. He was very hopeful about the place because the cake shop was not too far from his own home either. He may even be able to walk to save on the cost of the vehicle.
"It's not hard to be a cashier here. The working hours are also not too much because there are two cashiers who will be on guard in the morning and also in the afternoon," said a woman who looked aged while smiling sweetly at him and handed him the piece of paper. A piece of paper that contains the requirements to apply for a job there. Azea nodded with a sweet smile. He prepared everything as stated in the rules there.
But unfortunately the cake shop is not his luck even though he really wants it or has also met the qualifications. There is only one thing that makes him unacceptable to work there as a cashier, namely his college hours that collide with his working hours later.
"Can I not take the afternoon schedule at all? You see, in the morning I have to go to college" Azea told the store owner. He still wished inwardly that he would have an afternoon schedule at the cake shop.
"Unfortunately the cashier position with the schedule in the afternoon is already filled by one of the young people who applied for a job here a few weeks ago. The current empty schedule is just the one in the morning, and that's what we're looking for right now."
Azea was finally only able to sigh and resigned with all that. There might be a better job for him out there. This is just the first place anyway. He still had a few places he had already noted down.
"Alright, Mom. Well, then, thank you for everything."
Azea finally left the cake shop feeling disappointed. He was hoping to get a job today. At night he saw his savings were dwindling. He has to save a lot. He does not want to get into debt. It would be much better if he himself fasted two or three days, which is important mother and also her sisters can still eat regularly. Not getting regular food for two or three days is not a big problem for him rather than having to owe someone else who will eventually make him feel more dizzy when the debt is getting swollen.
