Lessons From the Bridge

Devi was already at the cafe where she made her deal with Raden. He had been waiting for more than half an hour, but there had been no sign of Raden coming. Devi had tried to contact him but there was no reply from Raden. Even Devi also sent him a message but not a single message was replied by Raden.

Even while waiting for Raden's arrival, Devi had spent three servings of chocolate ice cream and again Raden had not revealed his nose.

Devi immediately opened her phone to see who sent her the message.

Q: Don't forget to learn! I don't want to give you a cheat tomorrow!

Devi snatched an upset as soon as she read the message from Gara. Because it's the same as Alby who always told him to learn.

Lazily, Devi opened her phone again and she was a little excited once Raden's name appeared on the notification screen.

Raden: I'm sorry I couldn't see you. There was an emergency patient and Novi's doctor asked me to watch him. We will meet next time; yes)

Devi sighed disappointed with the content of Raden's message, but even so he still tried to understand Raden because the most important thing is the life of his patients not him.

After sending a message to Raden, Devi immediately got up leaving the cafe and intended to go home. In his heart he regretted his actions that suddenly ran away from Alby's car and chose to go to see Raden.

Along the way, Devi unceasingly braced herself mentally and in case she set foot in Alby's house, Alby had already taken a stand to scold her. Well at least Devi already knows the risks if not heed Alby's ban.

"Where are you going neng?" ask the taxi driver Devi ordered as soon as Devi got into the taxi car.

On the other hand, Alby stared at the thick book Renata gave him. Alby opens it and looks for important points that are the problem now, because Alby considers if overcoming Devi with explosive emotions is not a solution. After more than an hour of waiting until the job was done, Devi still did not come home. Alby glanced at his watch and it showed eleven o'clock in the afternoon.

Devi walked into the apartment timidly. As soon as he entered, he could already see Alby sitting on the sofa with his hands crossed over his chest. Alby must be very angry with her.

Quickly Devi immediately lowered her body slightly bowing with her hands which she tightened to the front of her face while apologizing before Alby let out his muti words.

"Om sorry, I'm really sorry. I promise I won't do it again, I'm sorry. Don't you scold me, do you? I'm really sorry," said Devi.

"Let's take a walk for a while" Alby asked as he closed his laptop.

Devi who heard it immediately straightened her body and looked at Alby with a look of disbelief. It's definitely not Alby!

"Om please forgive me. I know I was wrong, don't do this. Om don't just shut up, I don't mind you getting angry at me than you acting this ordinary makes me even more afraid," Devi said again as she lowered her body again.

"I forgive you. Let's go before it gets hotter" Alby.

"Where are you going?" great-granddaughter Devi as soon as her hand was held by Alby to follow him.

Alby just kept quiet without answering Devi's question. After arriving at the parking lot, Alby opened the car door for Devi to let the girl into it and followed her own who entered through the steering door.

In silence, Alby starts his car and starts driving him out of the apartment.

During the journey, Devi unceasingly stared at Alby timidly. Afraid that Alby would do something for her.

"Will not learn?" ask Alby gently.

Devi nodded her head to answer Alby's question.

"What does he want then?" ask Alby.

Devi just shook her head in response. But suddenly Alby immediately opened the car door that was right next to Devi.

"Then you will be cut off from this world. I don't want to babysit a lazy girl like you!" alby said while kicking out Devi and Devi fell right in the river full of crocodiles.

"Yahoo!!!!" yelled Devi hysterically.

"Devs! The devi!! You why?" ask Alby who immediately awakened Devi from her daydream.

"Om I'm sorry. Please don't throw me into a river full of crocodiles om, I beg you, "please Devi while crying.

"What are you talking about? Who's gonna throw you in the river?" asked Alby to stop his laughter.

"Om Alby" replied Devi slowly.

"You must be fantasizing."

"So Alby wouldn't throw me into a river full of crocodiles?" ask Devi slowly.

"No" said Alby, smiling.

Devi let out a sigh of relief upon hearing the reply from Alby.

"But to throw you in the lion's den I think that's a better idea" Alby said.

"Of!!!!" yelled Devi while blasting her lips annoyed that Alby was deliberately playing tricks on her.

"All right, I'm sorry, I'm kidding. Besides didn't you say little sheep like you needed to be taken care of instead of being put into a river full of crocodiles?"

"That's what Alby knows!" reply Devi upset.

Alby shook his head amusedly at Devi's behavior.

After a few minutes on the way, they arrived at a bridge and it made Devi more convinced by his thoughts.

"Om why are we stopping here? Om Alby sure he won't throw me in the river?" panic Devi.

"Let's see that" Alby pointed to a group of Devi-aged teenagers under the bridge.

"What om?" devi asked as she followed Alby's line of sight.

"What do you see?" ask Alby.

"A group of scavengers isn't it?"

"You think they're just like you?" ask Alby.

"No, I have Sean's brother and home as a place to live while they don't" replied Devi who was met with a smile by Alby.

"Yes, of course, different from you, the same is just an orphan. I'll tell you another difference. You see what they're doing now?"

"Studying?" devi replied unsure.

"You're right, they're learning. You know, every day they work hard to survive. They are busy scavenging and working to meet their daily needs that are difficult. One full day they just run out to work but see they still take the time to learn. Few of them are in school because they do not want to live suffering like this and try to reach their goals as high as possible in order to live better. They have a home, they have money and a promising future. They want to achieve it because they know how miserable it is to live without it all" said Alby at length who made Devi teary-eyed.

"They have nothing, but look at how passionate they are in fighting for life because all they can believe in now is being smart and getting a scholarship by studying. That way they can achieve their goals to improve their lives. You know what I mean, don't you?"

"You're content. There's your sister who can afford all your needs and your school. Why don't you use that? Those who do not have the cost alone want to go to school and study every day just rely on the books they find in the trash. Shouldn't you be ashamed to see them? Your brother wants nothing but you want to fight for your own future" Alby continued.

Devi was crying as she stared at them. What Alby said was true, Devi shouldn't waste her future like this. All his living and school expenses have been borne by Sean, is not the thing he should do is just study? Devi doesn't have to work for it but why does she still not want to learn? That's what Devi regrets now. Their lives are more difficult than Devi but they are still actively learning while Devi is not.

Starting today Devi promised to be more diligent in learning and began to think about her future. He did not want the costs incurred by his brother to be in vain.

"Sorry I never heeded your words to learn om. I'm sorry, I'll study harder from now on" Devi said.

Devi smiled at Alby, then turned her attention to the group of teenagers and her gaze was fixed on a girl sitting on a rock reading a book. The girl seemed aloof than her other friends.

Accidentally, suddenly their eyes met. Devi keeps her eyes on him from the car with the glass covered, Devi also knows that the girl can't see him but it seems that the girl is starting to be surprised by the arrival of Alby's luxury car.

"Om let's get out of here!" said Devi quickly.

"Why?"

"The girl looked at us suspiciously. I don't want them to think we're street kidnapers who are then sold for their organs" Devi said in a panic that made Alby smile.

"Of! Don't laugh and let's get out of here!"

"It's fine we go" Alby said as he began driving his car away from the spot.
