At the party for the new year, a few days after January began, Junmyeon was so relieved to see Juhyun present. The woman was so elegant, the plain black dress alone could not make Junmyeon could not often look the other way.
Several times they passed each other inside the party room, occasionally Juhyun smiled at him. Junmyeon will smile back even when she no longer looks at him.
Another thing Junmyeon noticed from Juhyun: her necklace. Silvery in color, with unusual pendants. Shaped like a row of dots connected to each other, each dot was a glittering gem. Some time Junmyeon tried to rack his brain to recognize what kind of pattern it was.
Even after he was away from Juhyun, taking the cocktail from the long table on the other side of the room, long after, he still thought about it. The drink was just a formality in his hands, he was so long beside the table.
His eyes looked around, thinking again and again. Until he ducked and—
—what is that glittering thing near his feet?
Junmyeon picked it up, and he was completely dumbfounded. This is the necklace he had been thinking about! Almost he did not believe, he observed once again to the details—indeed no other. It was at that moment that he realized what this form was.
The constellations. Shaped like a horn, Junmyeon surmises that this may be the Juhyun zodiac form. The woman's date of birth was in March, and Junmyeon understood it: Aries.
He quickly got up from the table, leaving his glass on the table. Walking quickly among the people who were engrossed in gathering and talking, then finally found Juhyun on the opposite side of his whereabouts right now; was chatting with the senior.
“Juhyun-ah,” call him slowly while touching Juhyun's shoulder.
“What's up?”
Junmyeon lifted the necklace. Juhyun was startled and reflexively touched his neck. “Oh .. true, that's mine.”
A little timidly Junmyeon offered, her voice a bit soft, still lifting the necklace towards Juhyun. “Can?”
Juhyun nodded without thinking. He turned around, letting Junmyeon pair it carefully. Junmyeon deliberately did it slowly.
After he finished, Juhyun turned around again. “Thank you.”
“Beauty once.”
“Ah, thank you—again. This is Wendy.” gift
Junmyeon scratched his eyebrows, his head slightly bowed but he laughed awkwardly. “Not that, I mean.”
It took a few seconds for Juhyun to understand his point—lantas, after which, he smiled.
The woman looked back occasionally, observing the sun growing lower on the horizon. Now that the front was there, the direction they were speeding, it was already dark, purple clouds started to cover the sky.
Not far away, the settlement complex again, with simple houses. The song in the car changed, jazz churned. Seulgi's contribution to the playlist on Jongin's phone, later he loved the genre and Jongin did not mind Seulgi tweaking his playlist collection.
Among the housing, Seulgi sees a cemetery complex. Not how wide, and they just go through it. Seulgi turned to look at the part as much as possible until it disappeared from his sight. Now, the houses are left behind again, with a rather sparse distance from each other.
Seulgi could not get rid of the jolt to his mind: about the death that was coupled with the life on that side. So close, in the same room. Scented soil and fresh grass are the same. Experiencing twilight together. But, the two are so different. Two worlds that are so far apart.
He changed the position of his head to observe Jongin who was driving while following the song, but without a sound.
Seulgi reflects on his life, about the world shared together, about the twilight experienced together. About his life, the smell of fresh flowers that so quickly disappeared—about the scent of Jongin that lasted so long, sometimes carried to his sleep.
Jongin frowned, noticing Seulgi's long gaze on him. “What's up?”
“Nothing.” Seulgi drowned his face in the folds of his hands.
“You sleepy? Sleep away. Later I will wake up if the destination is near.”
“I don't think I need to sleep yet.” Seulgi turned again to the sun, which was now barely visible, covered in shade and leaving only thin orange sweeps in the sky. “Just think of something.”
Jonghin lowered the volume of the song. “What is it?”
“Nothing.” Seulgi enjoyed the wind on his face. “Forget it.”
Jongin. Let the atmosphere become silent for a moment, except for songs that continue to play in the background.
“Hey,” greet Seulgi after a while, turning to observe Jongin while laying his head on his hands. “Thank you, yes.”
“We have not arrived,” replied Jongin with a laugh, “don't thank me first.”
“Not just about this trip, know.” Seulgi refrained from smiling. “Sedang wants to say thank you.”
“I need to know what it is.”
Seulgi threw away his face, facing the window again. “Take a guess.” Seulgi then said it in one breath, without a sound, thank you for being the best person for me.
