It turned out that the man's struggle did not just get there. He still has to fight to be able to swim to the river. With all his strength he tried to bring himself and Lea's body that had been limp due to too much drinking river water.
Several times he tried to reach the branches of trees that dangled into the river in order to save himself, but failed. Until his last attempt produced a commensurate result. He managed to drag his body with Leah to the edge of the river with the help of the tree branch.
With his remaining strength, the man carried Leah's body to the riverbank and laid her there. He then sat down while neutralizing his breath that was still panting.
"Geez-uhuk!" Lea coughed and pulled out the river water that had been swallowed by him.
"Where am I? Am I dead?" muttered Lea with her eyes still closed.
"Based on a stupid woman! You're not dead yet" the man grumbled as he dragged his eyes toward Lea who was still limp beside him. He was so surprised to see the condition of Lea's legs which turned out to be only the rest of one.
"In-where are your legs!" screech with bulging eyes. He looked around, trying to find Lea's other leg.
"Why are you helping me, you weird guy? Why don't you just let me die so I don't have to repeat it?" chirps Lea.
"Still ask again! Now answer, where's your other leg, ha!" the man continued with half annoyance. He again tried to find Lea's leg which he thought was lost due to the incident just now.
Lea opened her eyes slowly then looked at the man while smiling obliquely. "Which foot, you mean? Fake leg? If it's true, I've thrown it away" Lea replied.
"Fake leg?" The man was very surprised to find out that Lea was indeed a beautiful girl who was deformed.
"Now, do you still want to call me a beautiful woman after knowing my true condition, huh?"
Leah tried to get up from her position, but she was unable to move her body. He fell back and finally chose to stay in his original position. Lying facing the sky with sandy soil.
"I think you're still beautiful" she replied.
"Don't try to comfort me because I won't believe it. The proof, my ex-fiancee just left me just because I was disabled and not as attractive as before."
The man exhaled heavily then extended his hand before Lea.
"I introduce, my name is Gail."
Lea glanced then looked at her outstretched hand for a while then turned again and looked back at the sky.
"Lea," he replied without welcoming the man's hand.
Gail pulled her hand back then looked around the place.
"We're in a place that doesn't know what it's called. I'll call my people and have them pick us up here" he said.
He grabbed his phone and tried to contact one of his confidants and talk through the flat object.
Several times Lea glanced at the man named Gail with an annoyed look. He does not believe that his suicide plan must fail because of the man. The one who pretended to be a hero then saved himself.
"After a while. "It has. We'll wait for them in a few moments to pick us up here" Gail said again, holding her phone back in her soaked pants pocket.
Lea tried to get up for it once more and finally she managed to do it. He sat on the river bank hugging his knees.
"I never asked you to save me, Mr. Gail."
"What?!" screeched Gail with an annoyed face.
"In times like this, instead of saying thank you, you still say that! Then jump again! No need to go far, just here, I guarantee you will definitely die. Because what? Because you can't swim" he continued furiously.
"I'm surprised, yeah! I don't know why God is so happy to meet me with stupid women like you. Whenever there was a problem, his mind always wanted to end life. There are no other thoughts, but that?" chirped again.
"That's none of your business" Lea replied coldly.
"Yes, then just do it again! But after my men came and picked me up. Then do whatever you want to do."
After saying that, Gail chose to be quiet, as did Lea. He did not want to open his voice and argue with the man he had just met.
Time kept turning, until it did not feel two hours they were waiting in that place. Gail looked uneasy waiting for the arrival of the person who was going to pick her up. He couldn't stand being in that place much longer. Apart from being cold, he began to feel that his body was already very tired.
He watched Lea who was still curled up with a paled face. Slowly he approached the woman and released his shirt which was half dry.
"Keep this, so that your body is not too cold" said Gail.
Lea, who could not stand the cold, immediately welcomed the shirt from Gail's hand. He rushed to put on the shirt so that his body would get better.
"Well, that's them!"
Suddenly some men in neat clothes came to Gail. In addition, there were also some people from the medical team coming to make sure that their condition was fine.
"Come, sir." A man invites Gail to come with him while putting a suit on his body.
"Why are you guys so long, huh?" ask Gail while wearing the suit.
"A few times we have been lost, sir. Forgive us" he replied.
While Gail was busy with her people, Lea was being examined by several people from the medical team. After checking Lea and Gail's health condition, the medical team asked them to be hospitalized.
Gail prepared to leave that place with the others. While Lea was still speechless with a blank look. Even the medical team that persuaded him, was completely ignored by the woman.
"Wait a minute! Let me talk to him" said Gail.
"Good, Sir."
Gail walked over to Leah and now she was standing right in front of the woman. "Do you want to stay here, Lea?" ask Gail to make sure, before she and her people leave the place.
Lea was still speechless and looked at the man fixedly.
"If you still want to do that, go ahead. After all you need not fear because this river and this place is the habitat of wild animals. There are crocodiles, bears, lions, tigers, anacondas and so on. So, you do not have to bother to find a way to end your life. Just stay here and wait for them to come to you" Gail said with a sneaky grin.
Lea, who had been quiet, was finally frightened after hearing the words from the man. He swallowed his saliva with great difficulty.
"You must be lying! You just want to scare me, don't you?" sahut Leah's.
"Why should I lie? What's in it that I have to tell lies and scare you?" chirps Gail.
"If you still want to stay here, please. I go first," he said again as he sauntered, leaving Lea a few steps ahead.
"Ehmm .. wait! I'm coming, " said Lea who finally decided to come with the man.
Gail smiled cunningly then resumed her steps.
