Chapter 34. At the Hospital

Rico got out of the car and ran into the hospital, as soon as he reached the yard. He called Antoni. The man was waiting for Rico in the hospital lobby.

"Where is Karen in the care?" ask Rico without a stale base.

"So it's still in the ER room. Just try your dad there. Father Rico's papa is also waiting at the place" Antoni said.

Rico walked hurriedly towards the ER room. From a distance he saw Arion who was sitting down while looking down. Either scared or tired.

Rico clenched his hands holding back emotions as soon as he saw his Papi face. He took a deep breath considering that he was currently in the hospital.

Remembering Karen who was being treated, Rico walked back. He must know what happened to the woman he loved so much. Rico stood right in front of Arion. The middle-aged man had yet to notice the presence of his son.

"Tell me, what happened to Karen?" ask Rico in a tone full of emphasis.

Arion raised his face. Staring at Rico with her smiling lips tilted. It was unexpected that his son could know where he and Karen were. Arion has been trying to hide this from anyone.

The middle-aged man looked at his son with a deadly gaze. There's no love in Arion's eyes for Rico. Just like a hostile look.

"How are you? Until you're in this small town!" arion said in a flat voice.

Rico clenched his hand again and looked at the middle-aged man he had been calling Papi. If Rico did not remember his status as a son, it is certain that Arion has been battered at this time.

"Don't divert my question. Where is Karen? What has Papi done to her? I won't forgive Papi if anything happens to him!" said Rico.

Back Arion just smiled in response to Rico's words. Admittedly the level of calmness of the man was so great. He's not as easily carried away by emotions as Rico. Maybe because of the age factor that has matured.

Rico became furious at his Papi who was just smiling. Unable to hold back his emotions, Rico pulled the collar of his Papa shirt.

Arion brushed off his son's hand. He finally stood up, facing Rico. Back the middle-aged man gave his cynical smile.

Rico clenched his hand and grabbed Arion's collar, then brandished it to Arion's face. However, he regained his senses and stopped all that.

"Why did you undo your intention to punch me? I just realized now, if I've been nurturing snake cubs all this time. He finally ate the man who fed him. No thanks at all" said Arion flatly.

Rico releases his grip on Arion's collar. Staring sharply at that middle-aged man. Trying to understand his words.

"What does Papi mean?" ask Rico.

"I'm sorry I raised you. Better to keep a dog. There's still his gratitude. He will look after his master faithfully."

Rico doesn't understand his Papa. His forehead seemed to be frowning at the words of the man.

"Tell me the truth, Pi. What does Papi mean?" ask Rico.

Instead of answering Rico's question, the middle-aged man walked away from his son. It turns out that Arion saw a doctor coming out of the room where Karen was.

Rico also approached the doctor. He wanted to know Karen's true state.

"How's my wife doing, Doc?" ask Arion. Rico seemed to be less fond of hearing the middle-aged man mention the word wife. However, she can't argue because Karen is Arion's wife.

"Right now he is still critical. He needs a lot of blood. We'll move to the ICU. Lucky the blood he needs has his stock here" said the doctor.

Rico was shocked when he heard Karen needed a lot of blood. What happened to the woman he loved? ask Rico in his heart.
