Bern drew his sword and broke his wand into two halves to reduce the height of the stick. He took the top of the magic wand and placed it on his belt.
Fighting with magic is a burdensome thing. He will only fight with the sword.
Uen also walked with his dagger and instantly disappeared after the light disappeared. Assassin class is really great.
Ailen and Anton also took out their weapons. Anton held the spear because his sword had already broken in two.
Zion and Lewis are only behind as supporters. They just make sure whether their friend is safe or not. The supporters must know their work so as not to burden others.
"We welcome your presence, Duke Zeke."
Bern bowed showing a sign of respect. Only Bern did it. Even Lewis didn't do it when he was a commoner. They are too tired for karma.
"Forget the karmic order. We're in battle and our level is equal."
Duke Zeke's face was firm and stoic. He then saw Thomas.
"Bring Thomas back with mass abduction victims."
It was cold and didn't care. But Bern knew inside, Duke Zeke was so worried about his son that he glanced at him over 10 times.
Thomas lowered his head as if embarrassed there. He was really a burden until his father stopped him.
Pat's.
He patted Thomas' head gently.
"You'll get hurt if you're here. The way to fight is not just by fighting with weapons and getting injured. That's my style of fighting with the enemy. But there are many ways to fight. Fighting with the tongue, fighting with other skills such as medical and so on."
Thomas knew that Bern was trying to persuade him. Yet he could not help but hear it as if it was a clink of metal that deafened his ears.
"Everyone has weaknesses. That's why the support team exists. Because a person is weak and imperfect, they live. So, don't think about it."
Bern walked past him calmly. He could not see Thomas's teary eyes. She has since childhood been constantly compared to her younger sister who is stronger than her and is always underestimated.
But one sees his existence as worthy. He bit his lower lip.
"Son, what's your name?"
Duke Zeke asked in a cold yet gentle tone.
"Bern Kailyth."
Bern had no intention of hiding his identity either. Duke Zeke was slightly jolted at the name. Bern's name spread quite widely with his great deeds in preventing the ambush of a group of demonic beasts. But also because he turned down the medal just because he said he did a very sloppy thing and probably caused more deaths.
Duke Zeke wants to open his mouth.
"Bern Kailyth."
Thomas called Bern first. Bern turned around and flinched.
Thomas bowed his body as if respecting her. But before Bern could say something, he,
"Thank you."
A sincere word of thanks rang out in his ears which confused him.
"Thank you for everything, Mr. Bern."
Being summoned by a young master was very strange in Bern's ears. He wondered what he had done to receive that sincere gratitude. He used Thomas to ensnare Duke Zeke. Why did he get thanks for that?
But before he could open his mouth asking, Thomas turned around and walked away with some soldiers.
"really. Thank ye. That kid seems to grow a lot after getting to know you."
More confused Bern became. He nodded as if he understood what was happening.
"I didn't do anything."
Bern is honest and should have sounded sincere which makes Duke Zeke feel very humble Bern as suggested.
Duke Zeke wanted to keep talking and recognize Bern well. However it could not remember their current situation.
"Groan!"
Some of the assassins threw their weapons as well as archers firing arrows and fighters wielding their swords.
Duke Zeke's side was truly unfavorable considering their opponents used demonic energy and made them twice as strong as ordinary people. Also the black rain forest was extremely rich with demonic energy.
But in the pressure that was pressing down on them, Duke Zeke could see Bern fighting with superiority even if he was on tap.
His other friends like those who are depressed will devour the devil. However Bern was as if he could also use demonic energy there.
'Freaky. Why aren't there demon beasts when this place is rich with demonic anergies?'
Bern began to think about it as he looked around. There were many demonic beast sounds. Yet there was no single demon beast. Even the smallest pound does not exist.
Bern rounded his eyes.
'Illusion!?'
He held the staff and used a detection spell slowly like he just opened and closed his mouth swearing silently.
'As I expected!'
Bern could see hundreds of red dots all around him. He was kneeling when the pain hit him due to the use of mana.
"You!"
Bern's eyes focused on the man holding his cane. He had disappeared for quite a while like not feeling a little pound of guilt after making his friend a meat shield.
The man smiled as if he missed Bern terribly.
"Ah, you're really great. You can even detect my illusion."
Illusions are useless when someone knows them. The illusion will be destroyed.
The illusion shattered like a shattered glass showing hundreds of demonic beasts heading towards them.
"Damn! How do we want to stop that!?"
"Gather together!"
The witch made a ball where the devil was slightly larger than a football. His horrible smile made Bern feel a terrible premonition. His premonition said he would die if it hit him.
But before he could move to do something, the witch threw it at them.
A dark light surrounded everyone on Duke Zeke's side.
Tud, tud, tud.
One by one they fell to the ground as if they had lost their lives. Yet it was only the paralyzing poison of demonic energy that made their bodies die instantly.
'Shit! We're entering their trap!'
Duke Zeke could only swear from within. This demonic poison was not powerful to kill them. Yet some of the witches had already lost consciousness because of the dark light.
The devil's poison is a deadly poison to witches who are in a state of disorder.
Bern opened his eyes to see himself sitting on the ground 10 meters away from the group.
"You could die if you hit that demonic energy blast, you know."
Bern turned to look at the big man who had once forced him to drink potions. His face was a little upset.
"Why?"
Only one word came out. But the man could tell how many questions from that one word.
"Why? I just wanted to help. Am I wrong to help someone in need?"
Bern ignored him and used the sword sheath to help him get up.
"What if I help you? Put me on your side, will you?"
The man said with a wide smile showing his canine teeth like he was not sincere at all.
Bern's group of course frowned hearing that. Who was so foolish as to accept the person who caused their defeat in the beginning?
But the man had already decided to follow Bern. He remembered the reason.
'Why?'
Simple reason.
'Because they're on my side. Who is the pound on my side, will not lose his life before I crumble to dust.'
He who fights alone, never settle on one side because he continues to be betrayed by his friend. The word touched him. He wanted to be on the side of such a person. The one who can do apapon for his group.
"[Shield]"
Bern ignored him and created a small-scale shield to protect his side. The man was slightly bowed as if expecting such a response.
"Tens! You betrayed us!? You are now helping the enemy!?"
One of the Satan organizations shouted furiously. The man smiled as if mocking them.
"Braying? Nope, no. You don't even know my real name. How could it be considered betrayal?"
The one who shouted was furious and shot an arrow towards the man. But the man had no intention of dodging considering he was still on that side of the organization until Bern accepted.
Tang.
But the arrow was pierced by Bern's sword.
Everyone rolled their eyes including the man. His actions alone were enough to show Bern accepting it by his side.
"What's? You accepted it just because he said he was by your side? What if I said I wanted to be by your side, you'd accept me?"
The man spoke mocking Bern's actions. But Bern's gaze immediately did not tremble with the result of the mockery as if he did not hear the apapon.
"I told you, you're trash. Why would I pick up trash like you? From what I've seen, from the start, that guy wasn't on your side."
The man gasped to hear Bern speak as if he had been noticed for a very long time.
"He didn't interfere in our affairs even when your men were killed. But he intervened when you all wanted to go home as if to help us. Not to mention that he was silent about giving potions to my team as well as me."
They all looked at the man in disbelief.
"Also, he doesn't use demonic energy like you do. I appreciate her hard work on behalf of people who only know how to sacrifice innocent people."
The man's big hand was tightly gripped hearing himself working hard. He was the strongest assassin class in the kingdom. But everyone just said he had talent. No one saw his hard work. Even all his friends looked at him disgusted because he said he had talent and they didn't.
"God."
The guy snorted.
"How do you know he's working so hard? Everyone knew the big man with the big sword and the assassin class was a talented man from birth."
The man was grinding his teeth. Bern was not moved by it.
"There's no need to talk to fools like you. There is no talent in this world if it is not trained."
The look from the muscles and skin color of his face alone had shown how hard he was trying to reach his level now.
"Hey, what's your real name? If you betray, at least I know where I want to curse."
That's a ridiculous excuse. But the man did not mind.
"Stevens. That's my name."
A wide smile like his fool appeared which showed all his sincerity to Bern. The one who sees his hard work.
