From No Body To Hero
Episode 26's

Bern opened his eyes looking at the already dark sky and the many shining stars were very beautiful.

He saw his shoulder there was Althea and beside him who was staring at the sky, Kleio.

"Leo, you'll be sick if you keep going outside."

"Tell people who sleep outside without blankets."

Kleio quickly countered cynically.

"It's late, so we'll spend the night in the cave."

Bern nodded and got up from his seat. He felt his legs numb from falling asleep in a sitting position. Yet he still walked well as if his legs were not numb.

He entered the cave and only a third of the treasures within the place remained.

["Sister, this is your part."]

Kleio who saw Alastair handing over the treasure-filled magic bag thought he would be rejected thinking Bern was really stingy with money.

"You're the only one holding it. I'm not very good at money, so I leave that to you."

Kleio raised his eyebrows in shock.

"You're taking your side?"

Bern nodded slowly.

"Alastair will stay with me, so I have to have money to finance it, right."

Bern did not take the money for himself but to finance Alastair who would be in his care.

"I also have to look after Althea, so I need funds."

Althea nodded loudly as if excited even though no one saw her.

["So, you're Althea? Hello, I'm Alastair."]

Alastair approaches Bern and introduces himself to Althea who is on his shoulders.

"Can you see it?"

Kleio asked curiously.

"I can because I'm not human. I'm a demon who can make contracts too. So we're more or less the same species."

Kleio nodded as if understanding it. Bern who only heard them speak suddenly saw a sword stuck in the ground. The sword looks expensive and beautiful.

"Why didn't anyone take the sword?"

Bern asked and Kleio looked at the sword instantly with a slightly irritated face.

"That's a holy sword, no one can pull it. Look at them."

Kleio pointed at his friend who was lamenting the wall of the cave in disappointment. Even Steven was there.

"The standard is very high! What kind of person does he want!? I am the strongest assassin in the continent! How could he not accept me!?"

Steven resentfully sharpened his great sword. If the knight class appeals, Steven is still weak. However he was the strongest if it was among the assassins who relied on agility.

"That's right, what if you tried it? You're also very good with swords, right."

Kleio said that and the others nodded in agreement.

{He can use the sword!?}

Althea was startled and went to the shoulder Alastair asked.

["Yes he can. And he's so good at it, that he can kill enemies even when he's dying."]

Althea raised her eyebrows looking at Bern.

{Now I know why the condition can be so miserable.}

Alastair nodded in agreement. Bern's condition is really sad even for him who is not so know about healing.

"My bloody hand is not worthy of holding such a holy weapon."

Before Bern could even begin speaking nonsense, Ailen pulled Bern in front of the sword.

"Speak your name and pull."

Bern sighed and began to hold the handle of the sword.

"My name is Bern Kailyth."

Bern had not yet drawn the sword. He was on his knees.

"I am not worthy to hold the holy sword with my hand. But, do you want to be alone here? I won't use you and just take you out if you want. There is no compulsion to accept it."

People started to confuse Bern's actions. Why only take it out when it can be an extremely powerful weapon?

"You know, my biggest fear is silence. Aren't you afraid of being here alone?"

People started to mock Bern. What kind of fear is that? Fear of someone who has no friends? Fucking loser.

A vast sea view flashed in his mind. The only place that made him calm even if it was very quiet.

Bern finally drew the holy sword. But as expected, the sword did not move.

{Good boy, just let me be here. My master was killed here, and I was only loyal to my master. I'll disappear sooner or later in a few hours, so there's no point. Let me go together with my owner in the same place.}

Bern removed his hilt and stood up then bowed respectfully.

"If it's your decision, then I have no right to disturb you."

Bern smiled gently as the light on the sword dimmed. Maintaining his position all along just to be loyal to his master, it was worthy of Bern's respect.

"He even rejected you? Is he really choosing his successor?"

Steven splashed with Anton who was scratching the cave walls with stones because he was bored.

"He is not choosing a successor. He was waiting for the time to follow his old master."

Hearing that, no one spoke. It was only fitting that Bern bowed to the old sword did not know itself. The sword deserves Bern's respect.

Not long after they had made a bonfire, Bern saw the light on the sword dim and slowly turn into dust.

'Hopefully your trip is fun.'

Once again, Bern bowed respectfully to the one who had just left. Seeing the dust, it reminded Bern of something.

"Ah, I haven't cremated your brother's body."

Alastair who heard that was moved.

["We can do it on the way home."]

Bern nodded and shook his head at the bewildered Althea. Althea who saw Alastair's sad face knew that Bern told her not to ask.

"Hey, we should be cheerful about getting treasures! Let's sing and have fun!"

Bern just smiled at a moment like that.

"Bern, let's sing! You're too tight!"

Anton invited Bern.

It was a bit awkward for Bern to sing like that given his age. He quickly shook his head showing his unwillingness.

"Boss, it's not interesting if you don't do it! Come on!"

Steven didn't give up. He and Anton have even attracted the ice prince (Ailen) to sing together, even if only the humming sound. So why can't they pull Bern?

Bern who saw the persistence in their eyes reached into the magic bag that was on Alastair. He finally found the golden flute and looked at it closely. Everyone was confused by Bern's actions.

Bern started blowing it.

Bern played the flute well. He used to be a waitress at a fancy restaurant and learned to play various musical instruments.

"........."

Everyone was silent when Bern started playing it. The sound that resulted from the flute was melodious and made everyone calm just by hearing it.

"I didn't know you could play music."

Kleio looked shocked when he said that.

"It's not much. Anyone want to try too?"

Bern quickly switched the conversation by giving the flute to Anton.

Anton tried it and the one that came out was a shrill voice that hurt everyone's ears including himself.

The day ended well. When he got home, Bern slipped out of his pack cremating that tier 1 demon. Alastair held his cries there while burying the ashes of his brother and his only friend. Althea could only feel sorrow in that situation.

But everything was fine until they came home without a hitch. Well, that's not okay for Anton who was angered by his mother for dying. Bern was angered even worse when he was not their son who had blood relations.

They also live out their day as students well except for Bern who was targeted by bullies in class by a young witch who envied him.

Bern never took issue with that considering they were just little kids. It was just about throwing paper or water falling over his head, so he didn't care much about it. But his other friend was really not satisfied with Bern's attitude.

Anton has also adapted to Althea whom he can't see and thinks it's a ghost whenever things move. Alastair was also like a ghost could not be seen given his abilities.

Anton really feels alive with ghosts when Bern is not in the dorm.

And finally, after 3 months, the waiting day for the students arrived!

It was 'CUTI' day'! Of course it's a day off. What days make students so happy besides holidays?

It was a day off after the beginner classes completed their 6 months. They will be on vacation for the next 2 weeks.

"This holiday, where are you going?"

Steven asked and Bern thought about it.

"Ah, Leo said he'll show you the house I asked for last time. So I'm going to the south coast of Narda."

Steven thought about the beach and thought it had been a long time since he had seen it.

"I'll follow you. I haven't seen the beach in a long time."

Steven thought about catching some fish and burning them.

["Beach? What'sthat?"]

Bern shook his head looking at the two creatures who did not even know what the beach and ocean were.

Steven could not see Althea, but how he saw Alastair's condition, he could tell that they both had fun while with Bern.

"I'm going to the south coast too! I want to see your house!"

Anton quickly said that while packing his things.

"Leo also said that noble Uen and Zion will visit. It's been a long time since we've seen them."

Bern said it made Steven remember Zion who was very fond of Bern.

Any reason to bring Bern into the conversation, he would have done it.

"Southern region is a region without a ruler, right? There are no dukes and Marquis there."

Steven said that and Anton nodded. As a merchant family, he knew that. He even had a villa as well as a lodging place under his surname in the south.

"If there is no ruler, many nobles work under the Duke and Marquis of other regions. It's common in politics to join the strong."

Anton begins to think of his family who will soon rise to become the Baron family. They will be pulled to one side.

Steven looked happy when he brought Bern name.
