Everyone gathered in the dining room in Bern's new home.
"So, as we know, Satan's organization is most likely the mastermind of the mystery of the lack of food resources in the city of Narda. But we have no evidence for that. Anybody have an opinion on how to get the organization to show itself?"
Ailen said that smoothly. He had been investigating the case for quite some time and found no evidence and signs of any illicit use of demonic anergy.
"none. What can we do? We don't even know where their base is, so we can't deliver a blow from behind."
Steven said that in a annoyed tone. Even when he became one of those organizations, they were so meticulous that they only brought the very person they trusted to their headquarters.
Even Alastair who was in control was not brought to their headquarters and was only locked up in a cave that had been destroyed without a trace as they moved in search of healing spirits.
"Can we trace them with a grimoire?"
Zion asked curiously. But Bern shook his head to show that it was impossible. Even if it hurt, Bern would have done it if it could. But clearly, it could not make everyone have to think of another way.
"Well, even if we're together, there's still no solution here."
Ailen quickly woke up.
"I'm going out to get information."
Ailen put on her head cover again. Bern got up and made everyone see him.
"Sitting down won't solve the problem. Huh.... Where should I start?"
Bern seemed familiar with the task of finding information. It made Kleio and Uen remember how Bern caught the eye of another prince.
"Well, let's all go around and regroup at 8 p.m."
Everyone nodded and separated.
Bern moved alone because it was easier for Alastair to move alone with his ability to be accompanied by the same Althea that could not be seen.
Althea could contact him if something happened could also pinpoint Bern's location. It was a good help for Alastair who was likely caught because he was a demon.
Bern stopped at a cake shop that looked fine even when the food conditions there were affected. It was a suspicious place.
But no one was suspicious because the store owner was a wealthy merchant who could easily buy materials outside the city without fear of bandits.
Bern entered the shop and saw a lot of tempting cakes. Instantly, n*fsu ate Bern soaring.
Bern quickly shook his head to focus on his work.
'One cake doesn't matter, does it?'
But in the end, he could not help but buy a few pieces of cake and an evening minun by himself.
Kleio who happened to be going through the shop was astonished to see Bern who had always focused on his mission of eating quietly. People who even skip meals if in a working mood are eating?
Kleio quickly entered the shop making sure the person was Bern or not. The fork in Bern's hand fell onto the table when their eyes met.
"This is your order."
The insensitive waiter placed the 5th cake on Bern's table. Bern just bows to look at the cake as if he no longer has **** dine.
"Bern, what are you doing?"
Kleio asked with a heart.
"I was investigating this shop because they had so many food sources that they could display a lot of cookies, before I was tempted to eat them."
Kleio held back his laughter and sat at the same table as Bern.
"Next time I'll buy you a lot of cookies. I don't think you like sweet foods looking out of your personality."
Honestly, none of them really liked sweet food, so no one brought anything sweet in front of Bern.
Bern is also seen not choosing food other than he can not swallow the taste of garlic.
Bern just kept quiet as if he lost his appetite. But he still took a fork and ate the cake that the waiter had sent him.
Bern's eyebrows shot up as if he hadn't expected the taste of the cake.
"Ouh, this one's better. The chef in this store is very good with cakes."
Bern stiff once again. He forgot Kleio was still in front of him.
"Leo, can you go and let me eat quietly?"
Kleio smiled brightly which showed he did not want to leave.
Bern sighed and continued eating the last cake awkwardly. However, Kleio could see Bern enjoying it a lot and tried his best not to show it in his reaction.
After he finished, he quickly got up to pay the bills. However the gold coins drifted towards the servant in charge of the payment.
"Save the change."
Kleio got up as well and walked out of the shop. Bern was confused instantly and finally flinched following Kleio out of the shop.
"Is that not excessive? You know the price for that is just a few silver coins."
Kleio smiled as if he did not care. Seeing Bern enjoying his food was enough for him to throw gold coins in a good mood.
"You know, you have to tell me if you like something. I told you I thought of you as my family."
Bern was silent for a moment and nodded lightly.
"I don't want you to know and play me after."
Kleio felt an arrow piercing him. It is not wrong what Bern said. He had already used mushroom soup as his joke ingredient for a long time, so Bern definitely it could be repeated at any time.
"Here you go, can't you treat me a little better?"
Bern just smiled at Kleio. He searched for it in the magic bag he was carrying and came to a halt.
"Ah, I missed my note. You just go investigate. See you at 8."
Bern quickly disappeared from Kleio's sight.
'Let's understand the head chef to make a cake for dessert tonight.'
Kleio also walked over with a feeling of pleasure. They brought a lot of groceries from other cities before, so making the cake would not be difficult.
Bern returns to the store and sees his notebook in the hands of a woman who looks nothing like the waitress in the store.
'Is he a chef?'
Bern approached the woman.
Bern spoke in a respectful tone seeing that the woman was older than him. Even if it looks only in your 20s.
"You, did you come to my store just because you wanted to investigate the food shortage case? Do you doubt my shop?"
Bern did not expect the woman would look so angry.
"Initially it was because I wasn't the one who lived here. But I heard some people say the store owner is a rich merchant, so I don't suspect this store anymore."
The woman's eyebrows wrinkled at hearing that.
"Are you enjoying my cake or just looking to investigate the case?"
Bern gasped at hearing that and rubbed his neck feeling awkward.
"The cake in this store looks good, so I ordered it. I also didn't expect the cake here to be so good."
Finally, the shopkeeper looked satisfied with Bern's reply.
"Follow with me."
The woman went to the worker's door. Bern was a bit hesitant to follow him, but it was not that he could not protect himself, so he followed him.
There is a hidden path that leads them underground.
'Are they sellers of information? A hit man? Ah, same with both.'
The fancy place looks and the woman has Bern on the sofa across. Bern sat on the couch without much talk.
"My name is Calistia. I own this shop, whether it's day or night."
That means, a night shop is a hit man's place. A hitman could search for information and kill at the same time.
"So, what does Miss Calista want from this minor?"
Bern was not stale in his actions. It was very different from her who had enjoyed the cake.
"As you know, the city is short of food. The kid you were with, I must be one of the princes, right?"
Bern did not answer indicating that Calista was right.
"If that's true, it means the lack of food in this city is not an easy problem like a natural phenomenon, right."
Bern was silent.
"I love this city because it's my hometown, so I don't want this city to just die. However, everyone I sent to investigate this case never came back."
Bern was still listening.
"And in one of the bodies that were found, although they were not one of our experts, found a black cloth similar to the one you are wearing now."
Bern is now certain that he's under suspicion.
"I'm not with that organization. This is an item with the effect of delaying one's pain."
In view of the way Bern spoke, Calistia knew that Bern already knew who was behind the incident.
"As you can see, my robe doesn't have a 4-star demon skull emblem."
Calistia the more Bern knew about the organization.
"Do you know about this organization?"
Bern shook.
"They are an efficient organization in hiding their identity. I don't know what's up about them either."
Bern looks honest with that. Calistia held her chin thinking of something.
"If you don't mind, do you want to investigate the south coast together? There are some clues in the middle of the beach. Found some black robes that had emblems as well where the surrounding was unstable."
Bern's premonition was bad to hear which word was unstable.
'That must be them. But what are they doing in the ocean?'
Bern quickly nodded.
"May work well together."
Calistia felt she was not talking to the 16-year-old when she shook her hand.
"Ouh, before you go, can I have you try my latest cookie recipe?"
Bern tilted his head in confusion and wanted to refuse. But the cake placed on the table by a waiter made him tempted.
"If it helps your business."
Calistia smiled when she saw Bern couldn't resist it.
Bern ate the cake until it was finished and bowed respectfully before leaving.
"He really enjoyed my cake, huh. Though he doesn't look like someone who likes sweet foods."
Calistia thinks Bern pretended to like the cake for wanting information. But he seems to be wrong.
Calistia held her spear. She pulled a common brown hair that turned out to be fake hair browning her red hair.
Red hair with spear weapons, who else if not the highest noble in the southern region, Count Sullivan. His successor, Calista Sullivan, was a talented woman.
Many Count families in the southern region, but the richest Count and has the greatest influence is Count Sullivan who has many supporters and does not need the support of nobles in other regions.
They had many enemies because of their power that could bring down nobles in other territories.
"Today's weather looks good, doesn't it."
Calistia can't wait to see how Bern works later.
