Episode 33

Tump, tump.

Bern's blunted heart was beating with a chaotic rhythm.

"Boss, are you okay?"

Steven looks worried about Bern's condition.

"I'm fine."

Bern landed in front of a layer of water that separated the area.

"How can they fight in the water?"

Steven asked curiously. As humans, they could not possibly breathe anything else fighting in the water properly.

"Did you forget, the inhabitants of Sebasta city are not just water elves? They still had a fish-like human race like sharks and others. You know, it's not just humans who can have greed. We don't know who our enemy is."

Bern said that and Steven could see a half-fish man in a black robe with the emblem of the Satan organization.

Only 3 of them, but they were 3 meters tall with sharp teeth and nails that seemed to have demonic poison on them.

The fish that resisted the attack turned black as time went on and died on the spot.

"They really pissed me off."

Steven swung his great sword. He could not fight in the water, but the three fish-men could not continue in the water either.

Bern got rid of his broom and made a horse out of a swordsman. He could not spare his physical condition just for mana. He was fighting in the area of which disturbance made him fight with his hands tied.

"Can you use a sword?"

The assassin from Calistia's subordinates seemed to be in disbelief at what she saw. How can a witch fight with a sword? The body of a witch is often weak even to lift something heavy, what else to fight with strength?

A little blood flowed out of Bern's mouth. Bern quickly wiped the blood as if nothing happened apapon.

Laughter was heard from behind the water. They seemed to have fun stepping on those who were weak. Steven was getting irritated every time he heard their laughter.

Just entering their feet into a dry area, Steven wanted to smash them viciously. But Bern was faster than him and cut off some human fingers - a fish that looked like it was from the shark race.

"Armghhhh!!!"

The shark stepped back while screaming in pain.

"Didn't you enjoy treading on the weak? So, why are you yelling just because a few fingers are broken?"

'Where is that weak skinny kid!?'

Bern had always acted courteously in all his actions, and it made him look weak in the eyes of Calistia's subordinates.

"Boss, are you angry?"

Steven just asked to be on guard. Who knows what Bern would do if he was angry?

"Yes." Yeah."

Hearing Bern's cold voice, Steven did not ask anymore. He is angry because of Lewis' finger, because of Alastair's brother's death and the pain he felt because of the grimor the organization stole.

"I warn you, out of this layer of water, none of you can go home."

Bern swung his sword and blood seeped down onto the ground from his sword.

"Bare you!"

The octopus man quickly attacked Bern with his tentacles. Bern did not move a few pounds from his position and Steven deflected the attack with his greatsword.

Tang!

"Woah, I think it'll cut. Is that really a chewy and soft squid foot?"

Steven was pushed back a few steps with the attack.

"I'm an octopus not a squid! Dare lowly creatures like you mock me!"

The octopus man aggressively began attacking Steven.

"Hey, are you guys inside?"

Bern asked coldly.

"Heh, tell him who wants to answer, you fool!"

The shark man violently scoffed at Bern.

"Boss, the inner members have different emblems to them, that's what I heard when I was with this organization. They are nothing more than subordinates under control without knowing their purpose."

Steven answered him casually while continuing to fend off the octopus man's attack from hitting Bern.

"so."

Bern walked away from the battle.

"So they're of no use. Make sure the octopus dies, otherwise, just waste my energy carrying you."

Steven felt in a prick when Bern said that.

"Ready to do!"

Steven can only stop.

Bern felt a strong enough presence then saw Felix and Faura coming towards them.

"Take the dragon egg entrance! Don't let these idiots not know themselves in!"

Felix said that and Faura hit him!

"Some are just guarding it! Don't let them get near the dragon's nest!"

Faura went towards Bern who was standing in the situation calmly from the others looking frantically holding the octopus.

"What's the current situation?"

Faura asked and Bern bowed respectfully before replying.

"Only 3 enemies ahead. But make sure there are enemies in other regions that target citizens."

Faura gritted her teeth hearing that.

"Sister, you go back and see if the locals are okay or not. Leave this part to me."

Felix nodded without protest. He was very weak in battle and would only be a burden there.

"Dare you look the other way when you've hurt me!?"

The shark stepped up to attack Bern. Again, Bern just stood up not a few pounds moved to dodge.

Bang out!

The water sword blocked the attack. The angry-looking Faura was ready to fight with eyes filled with murderous gazes.

Bern raised his sword and there was a wind feeling as if something was moving there.

"Where do you want to go?"

Electricity is visible from his body.

"You, electric eel?"

The electric eel smiled and held Bern's sword. A stream of electricity flowed from the sword into Bern's body.

However, Bern just stood still as if he did not get sick at all with the sting.

"This only?"

Bern was seen mocking at the power of that electricity. Although Bern's black robe could delay the pain, it didn't mean Bern wouldn't get sick when he first received the attack.

"I have no business with you."

"Erk up! Keep the entrance!"

Faura pushed back, turning her eyes in panic.

"Where are you looking? Ehaha!"

The shark started biting on Faura's shoulder which lost focus.

"Ugh..."

Faura was bluffing her teeth and her brows furrowed withstanding the pain.

"It seems you never learn."

Bern quickly got in between the two and wanted to slash the shark's neck.

Tang!

But his sword could not slash that hard skin.

'Demon energy?'

Using demonic power to make their bodies become strong. The octopus' hand was hard as a sword.

"Do you think I would fall for the same trick!? You idiot!"

Bern pulled Faura away.

"You're so noisy."

Steven looked at Bern who had been so cold just now feeling very scared.

"Yes, you should just shut up. You shouldn't be fishing for boss emotions anymore."

Steven just bowed to Bern and was happy when Bern was happy. But when Bern was angry, aside from respect, fear arose in him.

"You helped the witch, so I have no mercy to let you go. Your Majesty, since they are sea creatures, would it be fine if I killed them?"

Faura nodded easily.

"They hurt the citizens of Sebasta, they deserve execution."

Bern received permission and black mana surrounded him.

'Where is that again, what is it exactly?'

Last time, he didn't see it right, but it was the same one Bern used to cut off the witch's left arm.

The mana finally gathered on Bern's sword and made the blade black.

"Heh, you think I would be scared just by that!? Comehere!"

The shark confidently wanted to accept Bern's attack. A few seconds later, his head was on the ground not knowing what was going on.

The shark's body lying on the ground made everyone there speechless.

"Uhuk."

Black blood flowed out of Bern's mouth.

"Boss!"

Bern raised his hand to indicate he was fine. He wiped the black blood with his sleeve and still stood firm like a wooden stump.

'This body is still too weak to control my strength.'

A lot of damage was done to his body just because he used his strength for a few seconds. It was his strength from his former world.

"Let's go."

Bern said that and Faura just followed him.

Tang!

"Are you not going to help here!?"

One of Calistia's assassins asked while fending off the octopus' attack.

"Stupid!"

Steven quickly closed his mouth.

"Are you trying to kill me....!?"

Steven whispered in a pressing tone to the assassin.

"Steven is the strongest assassin in the Sun kingdom, if he can't defeat that octopus, then he's just a laughing stock for the Sun kingdom. Who would dare to underestimate him?"

Bern said that without turning his body looking at Steven.

Although Bern was rude because he was angry, all Steven noticed was that Bern trusted him to take care of the octopus. Bern really has a soft heart on those who are by his side.

"What the fuck is that? Did he not think of his friend at all?"

Vany cheered on her friend violently.

"If the boss says he doesn't think about his friend, then everyone who calls themselves a friend should back off."

Bern is the person who cares the most about a bond from whom the pound of acquaintance is.

Steven attacked the octopus with his sword.

"If he dies or throws me away, I don't know where else to go."
