HAPPIER

HAPPIER
CHAPTER 45

I drove in silence, not knowing where to open the conversation from and how. Ever since his meeting with that man, Bery hasn't said a word to me, let alone a word, not even looking at me.

Should I regret letting her meet that man?

I just think, by letting them settle their past, then I will calm down with him towards the future.

But one thing that escaped my expectations, I never thought not to let Bery waver and return to the man. I'm not stupid to understand why the man is back in Bery's life today.

Instantly my heart was shrouded in a thin mist that finally evaporated into dense points of unease. Many times I looked at Bery beside me but still I felt neglected.

I turned the steering wheel of the car towards somewhere, which was definitely not my parents' house or Bery's apartment. I've been planning to take Bery there for a long time, but I haven't had a chance. Maybe this is the moment, given Bery's seemingly unkind mood, it feels very good to take him there.

Until the car we were driving got in front of a house building, Bery still didn't notice it.

"It's over." I said while opening the seatbelt.

He looked surprised to see my face close to his. I deliberately held my body position like that.

"Why are you Sky? Don't fuck around!" His voice leaned more and more on the back of the chair.

I lifted the seatbelt rope and showed it to him. "It's been 5 minutes that we got here and you're still not flinching from your mind."

I then normalized my sitting position and collected my belongings in the car then got out and walked quickly around the car and opened the car door for him.

"Thanks!" He said and then spread his eyes. "Where are we Sky?" He was confused after getting out of the car.

I pulled his arm to follow me inside the house immediately.

"Good night, Sky!" A middle-aged man standing guard at home.

"Night, sir. Please park my car, sir, and my wife and I will go in first." I said while giving the car keys to the man.

"Good, mas."

"Thank you, sir. Let's..."

"Sama-sama in Sky. Monggo.please mas."

My house garage is not in front of the house, but must circle the garden in front then to the side and then the garage is in the back of the house. The newly completed house was built last year in the style of a modern black house. Maybe some people will think this house looks gloomy, but for me this house has a high aesthetic value.

Bery looked amazed when I opened the door and let him in first. He spread his eyes and then walked around every corner of the room. I who was standing at the door could only watch him explore as much as he wanted. After that he threw his body on the large sofa in this room.

"You wait here, I'll prepare something for you at the top." I then ran up the stairs to the top floor where I passed through the mezzanine floor first.

*****

I don't know where Sky is taking me right now, which I know is now in a cozy and cool house. The atmosphere of my heart that was once cloudy is now gradually bright to see the interior of this house.

I was interested to see the kitchen directly in the living room. I who usually have never been interested in the affairs of civilization was immediately moved and interested in his heart set foot there. I opened some kitchen cabinets and finally found various types of black coffee brands there.

There is a coffee maker so be 2 cups of coffee that I mix for myself and Sky of course. The smell of coffee filling my sense of smell gave me peace in my heart and mind.

Can anyone explain to me why hearts and minds like to fight the most? And the most often battered to bleed is the heart. And when that happens, the mind will have no heart to blame, "didn't I say? Didn't I remind you?"

"Mmmm... the fragrance goes all the way up." said Sky while still going down the stairs.

"If I hit your arm and the coffee spilled, then I ask why did you spill the coffee, what would you say?" Ask Sky later.

"Because you hit my arm." Answer's short.

"Wrong!" The correction.

I looked at him with a frown.

"You spilled coffee because the contents of your cup are coffee. If the contents of the tea then the spilled is tea, if the contents of the spilled milk is milk and if the contents are water then the spilled is water. Whatever the contents of your cup then that's what will spill out." said Sky again sipping coffee.

"You know? The cup is like a thought. When bad circumstances come crashing into you and shake you, whatever's on your mind, that's what's coming out."

Sky took the cup that had been in my hand and placed it on the table. His eyes kept staring at me intensely.

"The question is now: What is in the cup of your mind? When something shakes your life, what are you gonna spill?"

"You alone determine, whether anger, swearing insults or even the weakness of softness, patience and kindness that you will spill. Never blame anyone else, let alone blame yourself for what you've been through."

Sky framed my face with both of his warm palms.

"Whatever shakes you up, it's not external factors that determine your days but your response and reaction that determine."

As my tears rolled out, I lowered my gaze from not being able to look at the face of this man who was so patiently facing me.

"Now, determine your response, determine your reaction. What is it like right now or are you going to rise up and step up confidently without letting the past weigh on your steps?"

Sky gently rubbed my tears with the backs of his index fingers.

"The Bery I know is a tough, great woman. She was a little spoiled and also crybaby, but that was all she showed in front of her husband. Now her husband wants to be pampered, can he?" Ask in an adorable tone.

I smiled a little but could not resist a hiccup when Sky pulled me into the chest of his field.

"Sorry!" lirih.

"I'm sorry it wasn't accepted." I looked up at her face looking for if there was anger there until she refused to forgive me. "If the wife is wrong means the husband must apologize for failing to make his wife right" he added.

I hit his chest slowly but he even further tightened his arms around my body.

Sky then parsed his embrace and went back to wipe away the rest of the tears that were on my cheeks.

"Let's go upstairs, you clean up first and I have something for you after that."

Sky took my hand up the stairs, we entered into a room on the mezzannine floor. The size is quite wide and the room is filled with a lot of glass as a barrier.

"I've prepared some change of clothes on the walk in closet. The bathroom is inside." He pointed to a sliding door leading to a walk in closet.

Although many questions filled my head at the moment, I chose to be quiet and follow all of his words. I already had no energy to argue let alone argue with him.

I was just thinking about everything he said just now because all the long sentences just now hang on every nerve of my brain making me not want to think about anything else.
