Hero Creator: The Last Hero
Ch. 55 — No Farewell

12 Hours before the battle began, Rigel and Ray were staring at the unique sky. It was neither night nor day but the blood-red sky without the stars they found.

The moon and the sun were shining at the same time showing how strange the situation was.

“Tak feels war is just a matter of time, yes.” Ray looked at the sky deeply.

“Yes. Big fight will happen soon maybe the person standing with us will fall.”

Rigel was ready to accept it if any of his trusted colleagues died on the battlefield, after all there was no war without casualties because it was inevitable.

Lives will surely be lost in numbers and sacrifices are needed to make the stairs to a sunny day, since they dare to stand on the battlefield is the same as dare to sacrifice.

“Do you have no regrets?” Rigel asked meaningfully, there was something he wanted to reveal but it was still stored in the throat.

“Related yes ... if I die on the battlefield my only regret is not knowing the end of this war or not yet building a family.” Ray scratched his temple and laughed with embarrassment.

Rigel just kept quiet without giving anything away, he couldn't do much about it. Forcing Ray to marry now is just a futile effort to try.

But even so something comes to Rigel's mind, he wants to entrust her to Ray one because only he can be trusted to take care of her.

“Ray ..” Rigel held onto his chest which was somehow painful, he was not used to having this kind of emotion all his life, instead he thought his heart had died.

“What's Rigel, do you want to say something?” Ray asked puzzledly as Rigel called out to him, he felt the atmosphere around them become heavy.

“This is just a selfish little request from me. Somehow the way you live it will be your choice—”

Rigel had no intention of forcing him from the start because it was not something he could command, but if he could he wanted Ray to do it the way Rigel wanted.

“—if something happens to me .. take care of him for me.” In a rare time Rigel smiled gently with a sad look.

Ray felt bad, “What do you mean Rigel, it's like ... you tried to say goodbye?” Ray could not believe that Rigel would do that, any more he hated farewell.

“What's farewell, it will happen only if something happens to me.” Rigel smiled wryly and immediately took a step forward, “It is time for me to leave, the plan I prepared will be implemented tomorrow. You don't forget your duty.”

Amidst the strong wind Ray closed his eyes for a few seconds and as soon as he opened it Rigel had disappeared from where he was. A feeling of loneliness enveloped Ray because Rigel's attitude was different from his usual one.

“What happened to you Rigel? You are very different, as if you were playing a drama where you were playing yourself.” Ray thinks something important is being hidden by Rigel, his thinking is mysterious but this time it is not as usual.

...***...

Elsewhere where the walls of Britannia's palace stood firmly, the scene on one side was the settlement where humans lived while on the other far side an empty square spread out widely.

“Even if you can jump, fly to teleport, walking on that side remains dangerous, Yuri.” Takumi warned him with concern, he was ready to catch Yuri when needed.

“Don't worry, I'll be fine.” Yuri smiled amusedly at Takumi's uneasiness, “Omong-anyway what do you want to do after this war is over?” He immediately shifted the subject in another direction.

“What do I do .. what do you mean?” Takumi does not answer and instead asks back, he certainly understands the question but does not understand the context of Yuri.

“I mean we're not going back to our world because a man named Aludra who calls himself Rigel's father proves that there's no turning back. If the war ends with our victory then the task as Heroes must have ended right? When we arrived, we had to do something else. If it was you, what would you like to do?”

Takumi began to think hard about the question, he never thought about what he would do after the war, since the beginning he was not a person who would dream of becoming or want to do anything.

He doesn't have a lot of motivation to do things, because if he wants to be something then he has to be ready to fall for it.

“To be honest I don't know. I just look at what I'm dealing with and not what I'm going to face. I'm not one to think about what tomorrow will be like but to think about how to enjoy the day I'm having.” He smiled awkwardly and scratched his temple, “Well, if I have to answer I might want to spend the rest of my life in peace.”

A quiet and peaceful life was heaven, Takumi would not regret anything if he was able to live in such a place.

“You are very simple, yes.” Yuri looked at Takumi and pulled her face so that the lips of the two of them would soon meet, she immediately said, “I hope we become a couple after everything is over, Takumi.” Yuri put her lips back together.

Takumi immediately stroked Yuri's cheek gently and let her touch continue, she also did not refuse to do so.

Immediately after releasing Yuri into freefall and falling, Takumi hastily grabbed her and managed to bring Yuri into her arms.

“Stupid base, what do you think of jumping like that?!” Takumi begins to scold Yuri while trying to land appropriately.

“Pft hahaha, after all I know you will save me.” Yuri laughs to tears, but her tears are not because of laughter but purely because of crying sadly, in her downfall she called out, “I love you, lest you die before me.”

He would never forgive Takumi if he died in the war, even if it did, then there was no meaning to this life and Yuri vowed to take his own life.

‘Isn't it romantic? Just as Juliet sacrificed her life to accompany her lover Romeo to the next realm, I will also do so if you leave me, Takumi.’

He felt guilty towards Rigel and the others who might fight to the point of final blood if that happened, yet even when they left this world all matters ceased to exist.

“Hah? What did you say just now?” It seems Takumi did not pay attention to Yuri's previous words.

“No! I'm just saying you can't die, there can't be a farewell between us!” Yuri changed her sentence from originally saying love to being a warning not to leave.

“I know that, I won't die before making you happy!”

The time that will determine the destiny of mankind, the great war that takes its toll will begin soon.
