Chapter 8: The Labyrinth

"That means we're just left looking for strawberries, but where can we get them?" jeane asked.

"We will go into the labyrinth to look for it." I replied.

"Maze?" mary was confused.

Of course we'll go to the elo (el') maze to find strawberries, as I said before this berry only grows in the interior of the labyrinth in an area filled with mana and a place that is minimal lighting.

"Yes.the fruit is in the labyrinth, more precisely on the eighth floor." I replied Mary.

"Ehhhhh.. Isn't that too dangerous?" mary said a little scared.

"Yes, it is, but it is the only place where this plant grows" I told Mary.

It was true that the labyrinth was a terrifying place, each floor within the labyrinth was filled with monstrous monsters that were far more dangerous than the monsters outside.

But, I already have a plan to handle it.

"Then how do we get into that huge labyrinth, without getting lost?" ask Han.

"No need to worry, I've asked Lucy to find a guide so we don't get lost." My answer.

"So, where can we meet the guide?" ask Jeane.

"We'll meet him at the entrance of the labyrinth." I told Jeane.

"Ookeh, let's hurry, the sooner the better!" mary was excited.

The four of us went out of the forest towards the main road before finally going towards the labyrinth door.

"Hey hey Shaly, where is the labyrinth door?" mary asked me.

"The door of the labyrinth is in a meadow to the west of the main road that we are passing through today." Jeane Sahut.

The fortress does look amazing standing firmly despite being attacked by many dangerous monsters and behind this concrete fortress there is a crack of land that is the entrance of the labyrinth.

"You're so slow Shaly, I've waited hours in this place!" yell someone at me.

There was a red-haired man who was annoyed at me, yep he was a level 49 adventurer Noro who often entered the labyrinth for mapping.

"Why are you here?" I was a little rough.

"Well, you're not the one who asked me to be the guide." Answer with a little offence.

"Direction driver? whoop! this must have been Lucy "I said slowly.

"Well, don't you like me! if you don't want to find someone else!" he said with annoyance.

"Greetings." I said Jeane.

Noro stared silently at Jeane with his eyes open.

"Ano. excuse me." she said, turning around and holding my shoulder.

"Wooy!! why didn't you tell me you were with a pretty girl huh!!" he said while shaking my body.

"Well!! did I have permission before I brought someone!?" I told him a little upset.

Damn this guy sucks, his treatment of me is completely different to what he showed Mary and Jeane.

"Yoshh, alright let's set out into the labyrinth." he said excitedly.

We also went to the labyrinth, the atmosphere of the labyrinth was really gripping but the longer the calmer.

"Don't be fooled by this calmness, stay focused and don't lower your guard one bit" Noro warned us seriously.

"B-well." said Mary trembling.

"We're going to the teleport line to save time to get there faster." Noro.

Mary and I immediately counterattacked and managed to take down the monster.

"We have to be more careful from here on out we will often encounter monsters, so prepare yourself" Noro told us.

We continued our journey, along the way we met various monsters like Mantis, black spiders, and fire salamanders, and luckily we were Han, Jeane, he said, and Noro was able to handle it while Mary and I were protecting from behind by launching a magic attack.

A few moments later we managed to get to the teleport line, there was a magic circle drawn on a large stone, which is our teleport path.

Without delaying the time we went straight to the second floor and again we were confronted by a terrible monster, even though the road we passed was the safest path that entered the mapping.

After fighting all the way we finally reached the teleport path of the eighth floor and like before a 3 meter high cave bear attacked us with its sharp claws.

The attack hit Jeane's hand, and as soon as Jeane's hand suffered a serious wound, his claw tore Jeane's hand.

Han immediately threw his spear and hit the cave bear's body, the monster screamed before finally falling, seeing the opportunity Noro stuck his sword on the cave bear's head and finally the monster died.

"Let me treat" I said to Jeane, holding her hand.

"Y-yes." she tried to endure the pain.

"Thank you Shaly" he said, thanking him.

"There's no need to thank you, I should be the one to thank you for saving me." I told Jeane.

"All right, let's hurry! this place is not safe for us." Noro said as he pulled his sword from the cave bear head.

We immediately ran away from that place to dodge the attacks of other monsters.

"Sister Noro, where does the strawberry grow?" ask Mary.

"The berry is always growing near the shining magic crystal, we should be close to where it belongs." Noro replied as he continued running.

"Yoshh there is a cave, how about we rest first to recover power." proposed Han.

"Alright, I also agree especially now we are very tired after continuing to run non-stop" said Noro.

The five of us entered the cave on the walls of the labyrinth to rest and recover our wounds.

"Are you better than Jeane?" ask me while checking Jeane's wound condition.

"Yes, it feels better" he replied.

A few moments later we set out again to continue the search for strawberries.

"Hey hey Shaly, is that the fruit?" ask Mary

"Hahh... where? " i said back to asking.

"It was there, near the glowing stone" he said, pointing to a magic crystal behind the stone.

"Owhh...! right, that's the fruit, we found it, thank you Mary." I said happily.

"Then let me take it." said Han.

"That's arghh...! " cry Han in pain.

Suddenly there was a thorny monster with three sharp claws on each arm attacking him very fiercely, at once Han was screaming in pain with a fatal wound on his back.

Noro directly pointed his sword at the monster's body but swiftly avoided it and instead counterattacked, Noro bounced against the wall with a large wound on his chest.

Mary tried to attack the monster but Mary's attack had no effect at all, it was like she was immune to her attacks.

Jeane attacks the monster but again avoids it very quickly faster than Jeane attacks.

The monster attacks Mary and Jeane and leaves them both unconscious.

Then the monster pointed its claws at me, but suddenly Han ran towards me and made his body a shield to protect me and suffered a very serious injury.

"Why? why would you do that? I'm not asking you to do that! why?" ask me while crying.

"Why are you crying? isn't... Should I protect you? protect this weak you." replied Han with a bloody mouth while enduring the pain.

I could only cry hearing it, without me noticing that the monster raised its claws and came back to attack me.

"Whoever help us, please help us!"

By continuing to hold onto Han's wounded body I cried for help even though there was no one in this place but us.

There was someone who cast ice magic towards the monster and managed to get over it I tried to find out who it was.

But I was really surprised to see the figure of my savior who turned out to be a white dragon monster, how could it be.

The dragon jumped in front of us and spread its wings which were just next door and it seemed that he was also injured.

The monster rose again and immediately attacked the dragon that had previously attacked it, but the monster turned into ice which was then destroyed by the dragon.

The dragon roared loudly while trampling on the body of the monster that had become that block of ice.

"Don't come any closer...! don't come any closer...!" scared say.

The dragon approached us slowly and started sniffing my face, I could only fall silent while holding back my fear, considering that he could kill monsters much bigger than him with just his gaze alone, he said, this dragon is dangerous.

The dragon then licked my face, I closed my eyes and held my body from shaking.

"Has the dragon gone?" I said slowly.

Feeling that the dragon was gone I slowly opened my eyes, but it turned out that the dragon was still in front of me sitting while looking at my face.

I really can't do anything, the Dragon kept looking at me nonstop, what was the dragon thinking?

The dragon then walked towards Jeane and Mary and dragged their bodies towards me, as well as Noro, and then left us.

I healed Han, Noro, Jeane and Mary.

Moments later Noro awakens followed by Jeane and Mary while Han is still unconscious.

I heard the sound of footsteps approaching towards us, it seems that Noro and Jeane also noticed, they immediately took up their fighting position.

And it turned out that the one who came was the dragon before.

"Impossible, she should have left already" I said very scared.

Seeing Noro and Jeane ready to attack the 1-meter-tall little dragon hid behind a nearby rock, but he slowly started to come out with a slight bow and walked towards us.

Before Jeane let out his attack, the monster took out a lot of strawberries from its mouth, before finally hiding behind a rock.

Then Mary approached the dragon slowly.

"Hey Mary that's too dangerous!" I said slowly.

"No need to worry, he doesn't seem to be a bad monster." Mary exclaimed as she stroked the dragon's head.

As it is true that the dragon seems harmless, but I must not let my guard down, even though he is a terrible monster.
