The night is getting late. Mak Nairah awaits the return of Kemuning and Malik. His face looked agitated, his footsteps pacing on the terrace.
It's ten, why haven't you gone home yet?
Inner Mak Nairah said fretfully. The feeling was suddenly not good. His mind began to think of something no-no. From far away, Mak Nairah saw one car.
"Good, thank goodness they're home." Mak Nairah muttered in relief.
Mak Nairah sat quietly waiting for the car that was approaching. He didn't notice, the car was running fast. Then, it almost hit the yard fence. Seeing that, Mak Nairah immediately got up and stepped quickly towards the courtyard. The car was not Malik's, but his pick up car. Bahar got out of the car and ran towards Mak Nairah.
"Maaaaa.....Be yellow...." Bahar gasps to deliver the news.
"Why? Why the same Kemuning?" Mak Nairah shook Bahar's body.
"Yellowing and Malik's accident....." Bahar said, panting.
The deg!
Mak Nairah's heart was beating strongly, she directly held onto the chest. Withstood pain in his heart.
"Where are they?"
"Hospital in town, Mom."
"Take me there." Mak Nairah immediately got in the car followed by Bahar.
The car drove through a hollow road.
"Paaaaaat!" mak Nairah's voice shakes.
Bahar added speed, until their bodies were both shaken.
During the one hour drive, Mak Nairah's heart was uncertain. Feelings of anxiety, when releasing Kemuning's departure with Malik became a reality. Before Malik's car disappeared from his sight, he saw a black shadow on top of Malik's car. The shadow of a large creature sits on the hood of a car.
Bahar and Mak Nairah did not speak a word. When he almost arrived at the hospital, Mak Nairah broke the silence.
"In which room is Kemuning with Malik?"
"I don't know, Mom. I was told by the village chief." Bahar said slowly.
Arriving at the hospital, Mak Nairah ran as fast as lightning towards the information room.
"Where is my son?" Mak Nairah said strongly. The three nurses looked shocked, one of the nurses asked.
"Who's your son's name?"
"Kemuning, my son's name is Kemuning." Mak Nairah said impatiently.
"Just a minute, Mom." The nurse checked the book, "Mother's son is in surgery."
Mak Nairah's body became weak, almost he fell if not held Bahar. The three nurses looked at Mak Nairah, with a look of pity.
"Where is the surgery?" ask Bahar.
"Let's come with me." another nurse said.
While tapping Mak Nairah's weak body, Bahar follows the nurse into the hospital building. They arrived in front of the operating room.
"Mother and Father could not enter. Please sit down first, the doctor will see you and Mom." The nurse smiled.
"Thank you, Mom." Bahar said his thanks, then took Mak Nairah to the long bench.
They sat there, waiting for news with thumping chests. Nearly two hours later, a doctor came out with two nurses. Seeing the presence of the doctor, Mak Nairah immediately got up and saw the doctor.
"How's my son, Doc?" Mak Nairah asked
The doctor's face looked lethargic and grim.
The words of the doctor made Mak Nairah stunned, slowly her tears came down her cheeks. The tube fell on the floor. Bahar knelt beside her master.
"Yellowing, Son....." Mak Nairah said slowly. Only Bahar can hear.
#####
The pick-up car was running between the rain. Bahar drove the car, carefully, while Mak Nairah sat beside him, hugging Kemuning.
"We're home, huh? Until home, you have to take a bath to be fresh. Later, let Mamak bathe you." Mak Nairah fixed the blanket that wrapped Kemuning's body.
Bahar just silently heard the words of Mak Nairah. He knew his master must be feeling very sad. Kemuning was the only child and is now gone. Mak Nairah wants to blame Malik, but the young man is still lying in the hospital in a coma. Bahar recalled, when Malik's parents came to the hospital, they met Mak Nairah who was silent a thousand words.
"I'm so sorry, Mom." Malik's father said, extending a hand.
Mak Nairah looked at that hand, then passed into the room where Kemuning's corpse was.
"If anyone asks Kemuning, you say he's just sick. I will treat it at home. This hospital won't cure my son." Mak Nairah said to Bahar who stepped beside her.
Although confused by Mak Nairah's words, Bahar answered obediently.
"Yes, Mommy."
The loud shock of the car resuscitated Bahar, his mind that had floated back again. His eyes were focused on the road that began to be covered by night.
Arriving at Mak Nairah's house, they were greeted by the village head and five men who became the village equipment. Bahar got out of the car, then took Kemuning from Mak Nairah's embrace. Kemuning's body was raised Bahar, seeing that the village chief asked his subordinates to help.
"You please Mr. Bahar." The village head stared at his five subordinates. However, Mak Nairah said strongly
"Don't! No need, let Bahar bring Kemuning." Mak Nairah looked coldly at the village chief and his subordinates, "Bahar, bring Kemuning in!"
Bahar follows Mak Nairah's orders and steps towards the house.
Hearing Mak Nairah's words, the five subordinates of the village chief stopped moving, then looked at the village chief. The village chief sighed.
"I'm with the people to say my condolences."
"For whom are you mourning? Your words don't match. My son's just sick, I'll treat him myself, until he recovers."
The village chief looked shocked.
"But, I heard Kemuning already..."
"You just go home, say the same to the other people. Kemuning is just an ordinary pain, don't come to see." Mak Nairah stepped out leaving the village chief and his subordinates staring at each other
"Where is this, sir?" ask the man in green.
"We'll just go home." The village chief said.
"What will Mak Nairah do with her Son?" the man in the hat asked.
"I don't know. Hopefully, Mak Nairah doesn't do anything contrary to religion."
"If Mak Nairah does it, what should we do, sir?" the man in yellow looks confused.
"We'll see later. We don't know what's going to happen." the village chief replied.
"I'm scared, sir. If Mak Nairah does something bad. The entire population will definitely get the consequences." the man in shirt said worriedly.
"Have it, all of you don't have to worry about what hasn't happened. We pray that nothing will bring harm to our people."
"Yes, Sir. But, we have to be on our guard, before anything bad happens. Do you remember what happened ten years ago? Don't let it happen again." the man in the hat reminded.
"We pray that it doesn't happen again. Now, we should go back to each other's houses." the village chief took his subordinates away from Mak Nairah's house.
The group of village heads came out from the courtyard of the house, accompanied by the cold gaze of Mak Nairah who was looking from the front door.
