Inherited Blood

Inherited Blood
Chapter 7 The Strange Journey

Dayu arranged some clothes into a backpack. Mita did the same.

"Udah, Yes?" Dayu called out to Mita from the front door of the room, she had finished packing. Mita nodded, then carried her bag of clothes and approached Mita.

"Let's go to the new house." Mita said, with a tone of spirit.

They both stepped out of the house. Dayu locked the door, then with them headed to the side of the road to wait for the angkot.

They took public transport to the terminal. Descending from public transportation, Dayu and Mita immediately bought tickets at the bus counter.

"Ticket to Batang Ujung village two, yes, Bang." Dayu handed over some money to the ticket seller. The man took Dayu's money and gave him two tickets

"Back home, huh, Dek?" ask the ticket seller.

"Yes, Bang." Dayu nodded.

"I am also from Batang Ujung Village. Which hamlet do you live in?"

"Buslet Cooled Black, Bang." Dayu answered kindly.

Hearing Dayu's words, the ticket seller's man looked surprised.

"Your village in the hamlet of Beringin Hitam?" the ticket seller asked again.

"Yes, Bang. What if we're from Banyan Hitam hamlet?" Mita asked in wonder.

" No.., no why." the man's head shook quickly. Mita was astonished to see the reaction of the ticket seller's man.

"Actually, what's with the Black Banyan hamlet, Bang?" ask Mita curious.

The man was silent for a moment, seemingly reluctant to say anything about the hamlet.

"Say my late mother. The hamlet is where the shaman of black magic, Dek. Ever since his son died, no one dared to come to that hamlet again."

"What's the matter, Bang?'

"Said the people, the shaman will kill the new man who goes in there."

The deg!

Dayu's heart beats. Mita's face looks pale.

"You guys from there. Surely you know the shaman If I did not know, since childhood I lived here. Rarely come home, let alone play to another hamlet." the ticket seller's man looked at Dayu, then Mita, "You people from the village want Black. Wanna go home, definitely not be killed." the guy who sold the ticket laughed. However, the man's laughter made Dayu and Mita's faces even paler.

"Thank you, Bang." Dayu immediately pulled Mita's hand.

They walk side by side, with their own minds.

Sitting on the bus, they were still silent

"What did you really say that brother?" Mita breaks the silence.

"I don't know, Ta. But there can't be any cake. If shamans do still exist today. In the city there are still, especially in the village." Mayu looked at Mita.

"Yes, Yu. Shamans do exist, shamans both exist, shamans are not good there." Mita nodded, "The problem is, the shaman in the hamlet of Beringin Hitam was willing to kill the new person who came there. We are, like, new people. Are we going to die there?" mita's voice was shaking slowly.

"Ah, you're all there, Ta. My late father gave me the inheritance of the house there. His will was the same man dressed in black, the man must be a brother or friend of my late father who I did not know. If in that hamlet there was a shaman who wanted to kill someone who had just come, there was no way a man dressed in black would give me that letter."

Hearing Dayu's explanation at length, Mita's worried feeling slowly dissipated.

"Yes, yes, Yu. No way, your late father would have inherited if there was danger there."

The bus drove across the highway. Passengers are not too crowded, a fairly long journey makes them sleepy. Some people sleep, play games or daydream. An hour's drive, suddenly the bus was a little dappled, before finally stopping. The passengers saw the driver and the kernet coming down. The two men checked the state of the bus, apparently one of the tires was leaking. The driver and the kernet together change the tires. Two male passengers helped.

"We're down yuk, it's hot." Mita fanned herself, with the small fan she was carrying. Dayu nodded, then followed Mita out of the bus.

Just as Dayu's feet were treading the ground, she felt her hair bristling and cold air enveloping her body. A black shadow passed by Dayu, then into the bus.

Dayu shivered, then hugged the body with both hands.

"Why, Yu?" Mita was surprised to see Dayu's body trembling.

"I'm cold, don't you feel cold?" Dayu stared in wonder at Mita who looked ordinary.

"No, I'm hot." Mita added a powerful fan to her body. They both stood not far from the busy driver, kernet and two male passengers. Along with several other passengers, they noticed the process of changing the tires. Once completed, the kernet asks all passengers to enter the bus

Dayu and Mita stomp their backs on the chair. The new bus was running, when Dayu sniffed an unpleasant smell.

"Rubber....." Dayu closed her nose, whispering softly to Mita. Mita sniffed, but did not smell any foul smell, other than the sour smell of the people on the bus.

"What are you weird about, Yu? You said it was cold, but the weather was hot for mercy. Now, you smell bad, I just smell the sour bus." Mita frowned, she was really astonished at Dayu's behavior.

Dayu opened her hands from her nose, she still smelled a foul smell. Then, he looked for that smell with a slight sniff forward. "It doesn't come from there." Dayu turned her face towards the back, "From...be ..lakang." Dayu's voice was disjointed, her eyes met the eyes of a girl of her age, who was sitting in the very back seat. The girl's eyes were bright red, her face was black and part of her face was broken Slowly, Dayu's body returned to its original position, facing forward. His body was trembling, girls the same age as him were still looking at him with a smile.

Suddenly, a loud voice sounded.

Kreeetaaa!

Supri tries to control the bus. Slowly, the bus stopped. The driver asked the kernet to get off and check the state of the bus.

"The rear is leaking, Bang." Kerent got on the bus and reported

"Switch, why are you leaking again? This way, the spare tire has been worn." The driver patted his forehead.

The driver went down to check the rear tire, then picked up the phone and contacted someone.

"The bus is leaking again, please deliver the spare tire." the driver said, then the man mentioned the location. After calling, the driver got on the bus and told all the passengers.

"Fathers, Mothers and Sisters. Because the bus tire is leaking again, while the spare tire is not there. We wait for another bus to pass, that bus will carry tires. I apologize for this incident. Please everyone be patient, okay?"

"Yes.." the passenger answered.

The driver sits back behind the wheel, leaning his body and head. Meanwhile, the kernet sat in a spare chair and played on a mobile phone.

Dayu looked around the place from the window, his eyes catching the figure of an old man walking limping towards the bus.

"Grandpa must be getting on this bus." Dayu was inward, his eyes still staring at the old man, as the man walked quickly, then floated in the air. The old man landed at the front door of the bus, then entered and passed the seats of Dayu and Mita. Dayu could not afford to look at the old man anymore, her eyes instantly closed. His heart is pounding. Now, there are already two magical beings on the bus.

"Hhhhh, why have I met them so often lately? I have never seen a ghost in my life. But, these few days are really strange, I can see them. Like, they were everywhere." Dayu's heart murmured in wonder.

"Yu....." Mita's call surprised Dayu, "You're sleeping, huh?" Mita shakes Dayu's shoulder.

"Hmmmm.." Dayu's eyes were still closed, pretending to be asleep.

"Any huh, Yu? Why do these bus tires always leak?" Mita said, "Is this a bad sign?"

Hearing Mita's words, Dayu squirms, then closes her mouth and yawns.

"Not good thinking bad, Ta. The tires are leaking surely because the driver's brother did not check the condition of the bus first, when he wanted to leave." Dayu said to calm Mita's uneasiness, though her heart was also clinking uneasily.

"Yes, too. I can't think badly. Kan, he said speech is prayer. Oh, geez. I have to change what I said. Hopefully this is a sign we will get some joy. Amen." Mita swept her face with her hands. Dayu smiled looking at Mita. Although, Mita's words sounded good, but somehow her heart felt they wouldn't be okay.
