“Ran, what do you think I am, actually?” ask the man with the sweet face and the plump eyelashes. Dimples that often stick out on his cheeks when he backs a smile faded by the look of his sad eyes.
“Boyfriend,” answered Rani lightly no matter how sour the man's face was now. Again he scoops food from the blue stock box he brought from the boarding house.
“Whose girlfriend?” The man opened his mouth to receive a mouthful of fried rice with a side dish of fried chicken made by Rani. He chewed the food in his mouth with a pouting face. Since this morning the mood of the man has not improved. And all because of the woman sitting next to him now who is none other than his own lover.
“His girlfriend Regan,” said the girl lightly made a thin smile slowly rising on the face of the lover. But that bright smile did not last long. As Rani continued her words.
“Whose else? Joy?” Rani raised one of her eyebrows while holding a twitch at the corner of her lips.
“Stop discussing him.” Regan clucked and threw his face away. The food in his mouth was rough. Joy again, Joy again. Her heart was always burning with jealous flames whenever Rani discussed another man before her own eyes.
Tingling amusedly Rani observes Regan's flat countenance. Sometimes shit doesn't matter, does it? Rani knows her boyfriend is very sensitive to everything that concerns Joy. In fact, just by hearing her name, Regan's mood immediately deteriorated. Because according to Regan, Joy could be one of the obstacles to her relationship with Rani.
They were both in the back garden of the school. The break bell rang loudly a moment ago. The park behind the school happened to be quiet at the time. Ah, precisely it is almost always quiet because it is rarely visited by other students. Canteen became the first choice place for students of SMK Bakti Negoro when the break time arrived. So, Regan and Rani freely talk or argue something without having to be a point of attention.
“Open his mouth!” rani misuh-misuh. His hand was stretched forward again to feed the spoiled man bin jealousy.
Regan shook her head quickly with a straight forward look. “Udah no appetite.”
Rani growls stifled. No, start again! It felt like he wanted to tear apart the face of the cool-ass who was unlucky to be handsome next to him.
Unknowingly the rice and side dishes on the spoon scattered as Rani tightened the handle. Then free fall stained Regan's school uniform pants.
Both round the eyes. Rani silenced her mouth with her palm, not expecting what she had just done. Contrary to the reverse with Regan who is now looking up and looking at the girl in front of him.
“Raniii!” geram Regan restrained.
The man pursed his lips and cleaned the yellowish stain on his uniform a bit rough. As the lips endlessly cursed the carelessness of Rani. “Where, anyway, you!” continued sneering.
Rani grimaced regretting her actions. “Ya, sorry. Anyway, you're messing around, ih!” rani's great-grandson could still blame Regan for that.
“I won't like gini if not you first start!” regan won't lose.
Sontak Rani looked at him with a look of wonder. “Well, how come I?” rani's protest was unacceptable.
“To who?! Who was looking first because of this morning.” Sembur Regan let out a bunch of junk that had made his mood bad. Irregular sighs of emotion were encircling the man.
Warred for a while with the statement Regan gave, before Rani finally snorted. The girl threw away a face she didn't like. Again, that's what Regan was talking about. Is there nothing else they can argue about other than that - it continues?!
Regan grabs both hands of the girl to hold her. Making Rani instantly turn towards him. Rani's face was still filled with cynical grunts. However, as soon as their eyeballs met each other, Rani's facial features slowly softened and were filled with sadness in Regan's sad look.
“I don't like you being close to him, Ran. I'm jealous of your closeness with Joy.” The man revealed all the turmoil that had troubled his heart all this time.
“I want you to stop connecting with him!” regan said earnestly looking through the beautiful eyeballs of the girl in front of him.
Silence surrounded the two teenagers who were drunk with romance. Only the eyeballs clashed between the two of them. With the position of the hands still holding each other.
Rani pulls her hand from Regan's. He sat back with a straight forward look. His head seems to be shaking slowly. “I can't do that, Gan. Sorry,” he said a little tart.
Regan frowned disliking. “Why can't you?” regan asked a little.
Rani looked at Regan annoyed. How many times he explained to the man and until now did not understand too. “Ya, because—”
“He's good with you, isn't he?! Is that why you get asked every time?” cut Regan out quickly. The tone of his voice also increased.
Rani held her breath hearing Regan's scream. The man had never spoken harshly to her before. This is for the first time. So, it was only natural that Rani was quite surprised.
“I'm sick of the same reason, Ran!” Once again Regan jerk it unmitigated.
Rani snorted while throwing a cynical face. “How else, anyway, how do I explain to you so you know, Gan?” he muttered softly but was still heard by Regan.
Extremely upset, Rani again turned her body to face Regan. “Why do you not like Joy? You have a grudge against him?” the demand is to intimidate Regan.
“I'm jealous of Rani!” sergeant Regan emotion.
The two eyebrows are intertwined. Rani looked at Regan inside. “Why jealous? I have nothing to do with Regan! He's just my neighbor's hostel. Her brother was good all this time just like me. I feel indebted to Bang Ari. I also promised him that he would take care of his sister at school!” rani explained. To go to every time. But why doesn't Regan understand?
“OK! I don't have a problem with that. You want to repay his brother's kindness, it's up to you!” regan wants to end that endless debate.
Regan got off the park bench violently. He stepped wide away from in front of Rani. While Rani just silenced while throwing her face without the intention of preventing the action of the lover. Both of them are being overwhelmed with emotions and each maintains his selfishness.
A few steps from before Rani, Regan stopped her steps and glanced back through the tail of her eyes. “I can't believe that you're just friends and neighbors. That's what makes me jealous, Ran,” Regan said in a lower tone of voice than before.
Rani chuckles cynically. “As of you, Gan. I don't care!”
“Maybe you just consider him a friend, Ran. But not with him.” Regan muttered again.
The remark managed to divert Rani's attention completely. The girl walked up to Regan a few steps ahead of her. “You mean?” Full gaze asked Rani serve to Regan.
Regan glances at Rani through the tail of her eyes. To see the facial expression that the girl showed. “I can see from the look in his eyes at you, Ran. He likes you,” he said and just waltzed away.
Rani stays and drifts in her own mind. Regan's words managed to make her ponder on the spot. His mind felt empty. The vow! Rani's mind never once led there. Never in his heart would it happen.
However, given how the man had treated her all this time. His words were always soft when speaking, also a thin smile immediately flashed while accidentally breathing in the school corridor. Why does everything feel like a boomerang?
Is it true that Joy, the neighbor of his boarding house, put feelings on him?
Rani shook her head in a daze. “Neg. That is impossible.”
