An old truck parked in front of the courthouse. True said the American woman, there are several types of crops in her. There's rice, yams, potatoes and carrots. The amount is quite large, can not be taken with empty hands. But, the harvest was already placed on a wagon. Maybe they've been thinking about how Dara can take her home.
"Please go up, Miss Alexandra. Sorry, this is the only vehicle we have" the American woman said.
Dara smiled, it was fine for him to ride in any vehicle as long as he could straighten his legs after walking for five kilometers this morning.
Everyone went up, not least Jay. He chose to sit on the edge to guard the back door of the truck. Most of the truckers were middle-aged farmers. A fifty-year-old African American man sits next to Jay. He seemed curious about Jay from the beginning to see him.
"I'm sorry to know, who are you?" tanyakanya.
Jay glanced at Dara who held Noah and sat at the very end of the truck, the woman was chatting with the people in front of her.
"I'm a friend of Alexandra Meggie's lawyer" Jay replied. The man next to her nodded as if understanding.
"Oh... Boy friend (boyfriend)?"
"Yes" Jay answered. He did not know if the question led to romance.
"There are a lot of American men who like Miss Alexandra. After her husband died, many men approached her. But, it seems that Miss Alexandra prefers her fellow Asians," the man muttered.
Hearing that murmur, Jay was surprised. "W-what? It's not what you think it is" Jay explained. Earlier this morning he was mistaken for Dara's husband, now he is also thought to be the girlfriend of the woman.
"Yes, I get it. You need to be more active in order to draw her heart."
Jay smiled faintly, he felt stupid now. It's also free to explain to this farmer, he doesn't have to straighten out what's inside people's heads.
"Wait, you got a tattoo?" The middle-aged man observed the backs of Jay's hands, where each hand was full of crochets. On the left there is the inscription 'A Good Life' while on the right there is a picture of the lion's head and the inscription 'King' on each finger Jay.
"There's also a neck on your..." The man switched to a large compass tattoo on Jay's right neck.
"Oh..tattoo ini—"
"Well, behind your head is also there," exclaimed the man in astonishment after finding an angel tattoo partially covered by thin back hair that began to grow.
Jay is at a loss for words. His appearance was indeed very striking, let alone tattoos was a very taboo thing. The person in front of him might just suspect him of being a criminal roaming around in search of a victim.
"That's great!" yell that guy again. "I really wanted to get a tattoo, but I couldn't" he continued.
"Why?" ask Jay.
"Tattoos are very expensive. I'd rather use my money for my daily needs." He wailed. "You must be very rich. You have a lot of good tattoos" he said.
"Ah... Not really." Jay scratched his nape. Apparently he was not judged as a criminal in front of the people of this village.
"What's your name?" ask the man again.
"Jay..." Jay answered briefly without returning. Actually it would be better if no one knows his name, but Jay has not prepared a pseudonym so he still has to say his name.
"Meet me, I'm Benjamin." The man extended a hand. Jay then grabbed it and held it.
"Listen Jay. We know that it is impossible to win our demands on the liquor company. But, Miss Alexandra never gave up. He even volunteered when other lawyers opted out. You know, if it's dangerous when you have to fight an enemy far stronger than you."
Jay swallows saliva, he doesn't even know that the workers have been trying to sue his company for a long time.
"We heard that Miss Alexandra was under threat from an unknown person a few days ago. The man sent a letter through the post office, an order to drop the charges. We are afraid that something unwanted will happen to Miss Alexandra. So..." The man was holding Jay's shoulder. "Can you help us take care of Miss Alexandra" he continued.
Jay was only silent at that moment, his eyes immediately turned towards Dara who now looked tired. The faces of the people in the truck seemed to be filled with hope for Dara. Those wrinkled faces seemed to make Jay feel pity. He's starting to worry now. When he is around people who are opposite sides with him, makes Jay stricken with a sense of dilemma. Jay has to figure out how things really are between the two parties.
...ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ...
After disembarking at the last stop stop stop in Asia Town, the truck immediately rushed away. Large vehicles could not get there because of the narrow access roads surrounded by small houses of Asian transmigrants clinging to it.
The cart full of the crop was taken down, Jay's job was to help Dara to pull the wagon home. Noah fell asleep, so Dara was very troubled at this time.
The two walked and passed Betrice's Asian daycare. The place is now sealed and there is a police line at the door.
"What's going on?" Dara wondered, she was worried about Betrice and Jenneth.
"Maybe because of the accident this morning that Betrice said," Jay answered.
"Police must be investigating. I believe Betrice is innocent" said Dara.
"Yes, you don't have to worry."
Dara lowered her head for a moment, then walked back. Now is not the time to make a bad scenario in your head. He believes the innocent will not be punished. Now all he has to do is win a case against that liquor company.
Arriving at home, Dara immediately rushed to take a bath. Noah sleeps in the room, while Jay is still waiting in the front room to pick up his clothes that may have been dry.
"It looks like your clothes are dry" said Dara. The woman just came out of the bathroom.
"Thank you for checking it out. Can I take a ride to wash the clothes I borrowed?" ask Jay.
"No, let me do it" replied Dara.
Jay then changes clothes and returns the clothes he borrowed to Dara. The man decided to say goodbye.
"I'm so grateful to you, because you let me stay here last night and lend me clothes. Thank you for feeding me, too" Jay said.
Dara smiled. "Yes, I'm also grateful that you've been Noah's nanny all day. I also thank you for bringing the wagon home" Dara replied.
Jay nodded, and then said goodbye. "Goodbye" he said. He then turned and walked away.
Dara was still looking at Jay's back, she ascertained whether the man would actually leave or not. Until Jay's shadow gradually swallowed by the end of the road and dusk with the red sky. I don't know why Dara suddenly felt empty. It's like Jay doesn't want to leave.
"Become, stupid! What do you think you stupid woman!" Dara brushed off what had just crossed her mind.
It was a short introduction, it should be fine if Jay went straight away without ever staying here.
Meanwhile, Jay apparently stopped in front of an alley and sat on a sidewalk looking up at the sky. In his heart was appearing doubts, which was why he was trying to find the answer by looking at the sky. God always sees it from up there, now what should Jay do?
That answer seemed to appear when a flash of memory just rained down on him mercilessly. The words of Benjamin were ringing in Jay's ears.
"Yes. With me always by Dara's side, maybe I'll find it easier to know the information the workers' demands on my company" Jay murmured. The man decided to return.
While at the intersection, Jay sees a suspicious black sedan lurking around. Two men got out of the sedan and walked into the alley.
"Who are they?" Jay wonders. He remembered Benjamin's words.
We are afraid that something unwanted will happen to Miss Alexandra.
Can you help us take care of Miss Alexandra.
"Don't, they're stalking Dara!" Jay immediately moved. He had to ascertain whether the men would hurt Dara or just lurk.
