Ch 35: Grief
"Is this safe, sir?" rudi asked Kuncoro in the living room of their house.
"Just calm. As long as you arrange and plan everything, there is no need to worry" Kuncoro replied with a happy grin.
"They have to pay for what their daughter has done to you. The despicable woman, with her bravery, humiliated herself in the School Canteen" added Kuncoro, now turned with an angry, flushed face.
Rudi just smiled and nodded in agreement.
That day, it rained so hard with lightning striking nonstop. That day, the sky cried with Mary. For the second time, the precious thing for him was forcibly snatched away.
The four victims were taken to the nearest Hospital not far from Maria Hospital. Police decided to perform an autopsy on the victim. The police chief refused and banned the autopsy. He wanted the victim to be left and wait for her to be buried.
The two Policemen named Arya and Anji were the 2 young Policemen responsible for Maria's safety and who asked several questions at the time.
After they reported the sad news to Maria, they rushed to return to the Hospital where the victim was entrusted and were shocked when they heard the Police Chief's decision.
Their conscience moved and asked the autopsy doctor to secretly perform the autopsy without anyone's knowledge.
One full day, the rain suddenly fell in the morning until nightfall. Doctor Esther asks her friend a psychologist to come to Mary's room. The Sisters stood guard and took turns without any gaps.
Maria who woke up, immediately crying and screaming also forced to get out of bed to meet her family. The nurse was forced with permission to give the doctor a low-dose injection of sedative fluid.
2 Police Arya and Anji after secretly performing an autopsy, they both go to check the vehicle that the Maria family was riding in the police station. They do it secretly without the knowledge of their superiors.
They suspect that there is something odd and their superiors hide. Truly doing this is sincere from conscience.
The next day, the police together with where Papa worked had worked together to help the funeral procession. The funeral was held at one of the Public Cemetery Places not far from where Maria lived.
The funeral was silent. Maria who was tired and exhausted from tears, could only sit limp next to Nek Aisyah. Even Doctor Esther came to the funeral.
"Thank you Doc for coming" Anji told Ester.
"Sama-sama Sir. I also appreciate the attention of Mr. Anji and Arya as 2 young police officers who guarded Maria during the Hospital and the funeral process" Doctor Tania nodded her head in gratitude and turned to Maria.
"The strong yes nduk, can not cry yes. They will not calm down. Pray with God" asked Grandma while stroking Mary's hair.
There were 3 funerals at the same time. But for Sisca, the family chose to bury his daughter in one of their family cemeteries in North Jakarta.
Sisca's parents hated Mary forever, and did not allow her to come or visit her friend's grave.
For 1 whole week, Maria did not speak and say anything. Because of this, Nek Aisyah decided to move and live in Maria's house.
Grandma wanted Maria to move to the village with her, but she could not bear to force Mary to forget all her memories. He patiently cared for and accompanied Mary who had lost his way.
2 Weeks later, suddenly came 2 girls from the same school with Maria. The two of them were the only ones from school to come see Maria. Even from the teacher's side, no one came or paid.
Geck.. Geck..
The sound of the door being knocked on in the afternoon.
"Excuse me. " there is a woman's voice coming from outside.
Grandma then opened the door and saw 2 girls of the same age with Maria wearing the Sandalwood Junior High School uniform.
"There son. But sorry, whose name are you?" ask Grandma gently
"My name is Anjani buk. This one is called Rini" Anjani replied as she pointed towards Rini.
"If Grandma can find out, you're ready for Maria?" ask Grandma a little worried.
"We're Nek's schoolmates" Anjani replied.
"Oh.. Sign on.. Enter" invite Grandma to allow Anjani and Rini into the house.
Anjani and Rini then enter and sit in the living room while looking to the right and left looking around, because this is the first time they visit.
Grandma then brought 2 glasses of warm tea for Anjani and Rini
"Thank you, Grandma, sorry for the trouble" said Anjani.
Grandma just smiled and went upstairs to tell Maria. Moments later, Maria descends in the same condition with a pale, limp and depressed face meeting with Anjani and Rini.
Anjani and Rini who saw Maria's condition were shocked and immediately stood up.
"Sit down" Maria asked in a weak voice to Anjani and Rini.
Anjani and Rini then sat down and stared at Maria.
"Mar, we offer our condolences for what happened to you" Anjani said as she held her chest.
Maria simply nodded and suddenly shed tears upon hearing that remark
"Mar, I'm sorry if I make you sadder" Anjani worried and apologized.
"Thank you" Mary's short answer, which was still crying, shook Anjani and Rini's hearts.
Unknowingly, Anjani stood up and hugged Maria. It was as if his heart had crumbled and felt the same sadness. For a moment, Anjani felt fear that her Mama who was in the Hospital could not wake up from the coma.
Maria was crying in Anjani's arms. Rini who had been silent then stood up and hugged the two of them.
A few days later, Maria ventured into school and cynical gazes remained in the eyes of the other students.
But like Oasis in the middle of the desert, Maria found her new happiness with Anjani and Rini. The three of them slowly became best friends and protected each other.
Until Maria finally rose to 3rd grade and one class with Anjani as well as Rini. The three of them were always together to go play and do schoolwork.
Anjani and Rini always strengthen Maria as she misses her family and her best friend. Nek Aisyah was very happy when she saw that these two friends were always there to encourage Mary.
But again, that happiness doesn't last long. When the Graduation Exam was completed, Maria got the fact that Anjani had been keeping a video when she was taken by Rudi that night.
To her surprise, Anjani neither felt guilty nor apologized to Maria. It was as if their friendship had meant nothing at all.
From that second on, they broke off the friendship and went back to each one.
