اِنَّ الۡمُبَذِّرِيۡنَ كَانُوۡۤا اِخۡوَانَ الشَّيٰطِيۡنِ ؕ وَكَانَ الشَّيۡطٰنُ لِرَبِّهٖ كَفُوۡرًا
Motazziriina kaanuu ikhwaanash shayaatiini wa kaanash shaytaanu li Rabbihii kafuuraa
Verily, those who are the spenders are the brothers of Satan, and the devil is very disbelieving in his Lord (Q.S Al-Isra verse 27)
Exegesis :
Allah denounces the extravagant spending of wealth, stating, "Verily those who spenders are the brothers of Satan, they do extravagant spending of wealth because of the impulse of Satan, therefore, they do, extravagant behavior includes satanic nature, and the devil is deeply in denial of the favor and grace of his Lord.
Then Allah declares that the wasters are the brothers of Satan. This phrase is commonly used by Arabs. A person who habitually follows the rules of a people or follows in his footsteps is called a brother of that people. So those who waste their wealth are the ones who follow Satan's steps. Whereas what is meant by spenders in this verse are those who squander their property in works which are certainly outside the commandments of Allah. These same people are called friends of the devil. In the world they are tempted by demons, and in the Hereafter they will be put into Hell.
Allah swt says:
And whosoever turns away from the teaching of Allah, the Most Merciful (Al-Qur'an), We let Satan (misguide him) and become his intimate friend. (az-Zukhruf/43:36)
And the word of God:
(Requipped to the angels), "Gather the unjust with their companions and what they used to worship. (ash-shaffat/37:22)
At the end of the verse, it is explained that Satan is very disbelieving of his Lord, meaning he is very disbelieving in the favor of God given to him, and does not want to thank him. In fact, the disobedient devil does not obey the commandments of God, and tempts man to do mischief.
Al-Karkhi explains the state of the one who is given glory and abundant treasure. When the man makes use of the riches and the glory beyond the limits that God desires, he has denied the favor of God. One who does so, either by nature or by deeds, can be likened to the deeds of Satan.
This verse was revealed by God in order to explain the deeds of the people of Jahiliah. It was customary for the Arabs to accumulate the treasures they had acquired from the spoils of war, robbery, and pillaging. The treasure they then use to make fun of it in order to gain fame. The Quraysh used their wealth to block the spread of Islam, weaken its adherents, and help the enemies of Islam. The verse came down to express how ugly their efforts were.
Agif explained all that to Priti, with the intention to stop Priti from being wasteful (mubazir)
"Have sir sentad his lecture? kasian tuh mbak nungguin" said Priti relaxed because Priti also already knew about it
Priti just smiles at his own smile because he thinks Agif may not be able to pay all of it, but Priti's guess is wrong, Agif even overstated his money for the cashier's mbak bonus
