Love That (No) Blind

Love That (No) Blind
Part 8-1: Next Future Company

[Sara]

It had been almost an hour since Widia left, Sara was still sitting in the living room thinking about all the interactions she had just had with her mother-in-law. Looking for a loophole that might be the reason to be careful with Agam's stepmother so that she knows what she should do when her mother-in-law approaches Agam.

But, not the answer that Sara got, instead her head was getting dizzy. Sara increasingly does not understand what is going on with the two of them?

But, it is not the time to keep daydreaming. As soon as she saw the wall clock, Sara immediately panicked, “Gosh, 11 o'clock. Driver's coming in 1 hour.”

“Today you are going to the NFC office. At 12 o'clock the driver will come to pick you up. So, finish all the work that was here before that hour,” Agam said this morning before he left for the office.

“To NFC office?,” asks Sara. He was also confused and suddenly invited him to the office. Things that Agam never talked about before.

“Iya,” reply Agam. “I am developing a tool to help people with speech-neutral disabilities and people who cannot speak sign language to communicate with each other. And I'll put the sign language your father created into it.”

“Various ... where are you ..”

Sara no longer continued that sentence. Of course he knows. He knows everything ...

“Therefore, you will go to the NFC office today to help ET (Engineer Team or engineer team) and RT (Researcher Team or research team),” Agam continued again.

Who would have thought, that one ability would help him someday. Sara, who learned sign language and how to read Braille just to be able to communicate with her father, knows now that her ability will be used for greater things. Sara still couldn't believe it, Agam could think of all that.

Sara's father once invented a simple sign language. Only sign language is usually used by deaf-mute or blind-blind disabled people. But, for this one, Dad modified it a little so that it could be used by being touched to the palm of his listener's hand.

Simple indeed, because the purpose of making it is also quite ludicrous actually. Sometimes both Sara and her father use it when they are planning something without Sara's mother's knowledge. Take a birthday surprise, for example. Or when her father asked Sara for help because she was in a cold war with Mom.

Because it was so simple, Sara's father only taught it to Sara and a small number of friends or special students who had come to be taught sign language or read Braille.

The question now is, how much does Agam know about Sara?

“Mrs Sara!”

Sara's mouth was gaping wide enough to admire the grandeur of the NFC office building when Raka came and shouted calling her name. How not? As the name suggests, the building is truly magnificent. Different from what he saw on the Internet. Seeing yourself has a different sensation.

“Welcome to the NFC office, Mrs Sara,” welcome Raka when she just passed the front door of the office building. All eyes are now on him. And the most obvious question is, who is he?

It felt like Sara was hiding, at least far from the sight of the people who were currently looking at her. Raka's loud voice that continuously called out to him actually made those who were curious just increase.

“Mister Agam's office is on the top floor, Madam. 30 Floor. If Madam comes here again, Madam can go straight up. I have informed the security department that Madam is the wife of Mr. Agam.”

Good Lord! Where do they keep such a big barrel? I want to feel like getting into it.

Sara's first destination was not the 30th floor, but the 20th floor, where the researchers worked. This is where Sara and the team will exchange ideas with other sign language experts who will then be processed into data for their projects.

It was fun for Sara. There were many interesting things that she saw today, especially when they discussed perfecting the sign language that Sara's father had once created. Because it is too simple, then some things need to be adjusted so that it can be equivalent to what already exists.

I really thought of everything. He not only invites Sara, but also other sign language experts. Little by little Sara finally understood the reason Agam took her. He was proud to be part of that project.

For nearly 3 hours, Sara was on the 20th floor working on the project. Like Raka's message before Agam's assistant left her there, so Sara would go straight up to the 30th floor once she was done. And that's what Sara's doing right now.

Sara just got out of the elevator and followed Raka's direction. Just a few steps until she reached Agam's office, Sara overheard some people talking in the meeting room. The door was not tightly closed which allowed Sara to hear everything very clearly.

"We need more projects than this. Selene 4.1, for example. I remember very well how the success of NFC at that time because of Selene. If this keeps up, the NFC's gonna sink, then crumble."

And be overwritten by another voice.

"really. It has been 2 years that NFC has not produced extraordinary innovations. Small works for disabilities will not be able to carry NFC everywhere. We need a new buzz that's more prominent than Selene 4.1, or at least comparable."

Sara then peeked out of the window glass that was on the edge of the door. He could clearly see Agam who was still there, in front of the people who continued to corner him. Without talking, just shut up, and keep listening.

Yeah, keep listening. Because Sara could see that Agam's hearing aid was still attached to her right ear.

Sara finally went back to hiding behind the meeting room wall.

But, one sound was enough to make Sara growled.

"Many say the decline of NFC due to the ability of Mr. Tirtagama is declining due to loss of the ability of the eyes and ears. Maybe this sounds cruel. But that's the truth. Selene has continued to evolve from the very beginning since she was created. Even when Mr. Tirtagama had an accident and was paralyzed, Selene was still growing to 4.1. Then, now? Inevitably I must admit, I agree with their opinion that Mr. Tirtagama is no longer able to lead the NFC."

Sara continued to grumble in annoyance from behind the meeting room wall. He was annoyed by all the talk of people who continued to corner Agam.

Should someone say something so evil? Should one be reminded of his incompetence? It's not even trying. He's developing something. Everything is still in process. How could they decide that this would not be as 'new breakthrough' as they thought?

Anyway, why didn't Agam just take off his hearing aid? Better not listen to their nonsense.

"Mrs Sara."

Raka's sudden voice coming from behind the door startled Sara.

"The lady must be lost, yes. Let me take you to Mr. Agam's office."

Sara was even more surprised. How did Raka know Sara was there? How could that assistant of Agam suddenly appear just like that? He was sure his voice wasn't too loud. But ... Is it possible that Sara was unconscious, huh?

"Is ... everything okay?," asked Sara carefully on their way to Agam's office.

"Not too good, Madam," answered Raka briefly.

Sara immediately thought of Agam when she heard Raka's reply. How's she feeling now?

Raka then stopped her steps, then turned to face Sara.

"While Mr. Agam's two eyes may work well though, they will continue to demand Mr. Agam to do more and more. They always do, madam."

Raka smiled then turned around to continue their journey.

"Project Selene is an old project that is developed continuously following the development of technological needs. From the beginning it has attracted a lot of attention because Mr. Wiryasurya is the one who is actively publishing it. So, when Mr. Agam brings out the latest version of Selene, everyone will definitely be enthusiastic."

"I mean, all this time Mas Agam is as a thinker, while Mas Agam's father is the seller?," asked Sara to correct her understanding.

"Yes, Madam. More or less so," answered Raka while opening the door of Agam's office to Sara. "Mr Agam is not good at talking. You can only be busy thinking. Therefore, Mr. Wiryasurya who thinks a lot about where the results of Mr. Agam's idea is more appropriate to be addressed."

"But, they look impatient" Sara said again after she was invited to sit down. While Raka had gone to one corner of the room to make her a drink. "What would happen if they lost their patience?"

"Hhm ..." Raka stopped her activities and seemed to be thinking about something. Shortly after, he said, "The worst thing is that they will sell their shares. Then, the selling value of NFC will decrease. NFC may be shut down."

It could seem that bad. Such people are precisely in control of the NFC life. Why should they?

"Don't worry, ma'am," said Raka who had now returned to Sara with a cup of drink in her hand. "I'm sure Mr. Agam has a lot of new ideas ready to launch."

After handing the drink to Sara, Raka resumed her words while smiling with confidence.

"What they say is that they are not entirely wrong. Master Agam's greatest difficulty is indeed in both eyes."

It's true, huh?

"But .. I'm sure Mr. Agam can handle it. There is now a Madam beside you."

"I??"
