Love That (No) Blind

Love That (No) Blind
Part 17: The Unexpected Day

[Sara]

“Sorry, Non. I asked for permission to go home today. Because my youngest son suddenly got sick.”

So said Mbok Jami this morning when saying goodbye to Sara.

After breakfast, when everyone is back at work, Sara is surprised by Mbok Jami who suddenly comes to her study. He was more willing to go to Sara in her study downstairs than to go to Agam's upstairs office.

“I don't dare to go up, Non. Fear Den Agam angry. But, all the food Den Agam today I have cooked. I put it in the heating cabinet. Later stay served only, Non.”

“Nothing, Mbok. I will tell Mas Agam. Same Mr Pardi also , Mbok?,” asked Sara who had approached Mbok Jami and stroked his back gently, giving him strength. Must be very worried.

“Ndak, Non. I was just. I just wait for her sister to come home. New can I stay.”

......................

Sara was already in the kitchen before Agam came down. At half-time, her husband had not yet seen his reflection in the dining room that was located in a kitchen.

Usually if the clock is not down yet, it means Agam will continue to work until the afternoon. That's what he learned during his stay at Agam's house.

“Wait 5 minutes more,” he said softly while paying attention to the wall clock whose long needles have been pointed towards 33 minutes. I wish Agam had appeared before that.

And, not for 5 minutes either ...

“Mbok, I want lunch.”

Finally ...

Sara had already opened her mouth to tell Agam about Mbok Jami. But before his voice could come out, Agam started talking again.

“Later afternoon Raka came for a while to deliver documents. If you have received please put it in the workspace below, yes.”

Sara's still trying again. Again, Agam began to speak.

“Still a long time, Mbok? I'm already hungry.”

Athaghfirullah, O Allah. Patience ...

Sara is forced to delay her wish and goes to get Agam's food out of the warmer cupboard.

It didn't take long for Sara to set it up because Mbok Jami had done it all. Sara just needs to present it in front of Agam.

I just have to wait until it's all done. And finally, Sara just put a spoon in Agam's grasp. That means, the dish is ready to be eaten.

Finished as well ...

Eat it casually. He seems to enjoy it. Of course, he liked Mbok Jami's cooking so much that he never ate the cooking of others.

Ah, yes! There's a reason why he's so.

Agam only eats Mbok Jami's cooking. That's what Agam told him first.

And now Mbok Jami is not home. What if he thinks it's not Mbok Jami's cooking? What if Agam then doesn't want to eat it?

“Sara has eaten, Mbok?,” asked Agam to disperse Sara's daydream.

How'this? Answer no? Sara is now among the hard choices.

“Mbok?”

Sara was still silent with complicated thoughts to decide. And now Agam asked again.

“Already gone, yes?,” said Agam lirih

Without realizing it, Sara nodded her head many times. I hope Agam doesn't ask anymore.

Fortunately so. Agam then resumed his eating. Sara breathed a sigh of relief.

Sara occupies a seat away from Agam. While looking at Agam who was enjoying his food without the slightest sound. Only the twang of the spoon clashed with the plate whenever he took his food from the plate.

If you recall, Agam is not a picky type of food. All the cooking Mbok Jami always spent. Never had Sara seen any food on her plate.

Maybe Agam is not a picky eater. His mental state made him choose who could cook for him. In retrospect, even though Mama Widia brought the same dishes, Agam still would not eat them. Because it's not Mbok Jami himself who cooks it. It's weird, but it must be scary.

Agam was still enjoying his food without knowing there was Sara in front of him. Slowly she put the food in her mouth without any worry at all. And Sara too. Just noticed.

“Thank you for the cooking, Mbok.”

Done already?

But Agam did not leave immediately. He was still in his place. Only his head was tilted until one of his ears was raised up.

Looking for Mbok Jami?

I don't know. What matters now is that Agam has returned to ‘istana’nya. And Sara could get her job done again.

......................

“Mbok ...,” call Agam when he gets off in the afternoon.

Sara who was still in her study, and was about to go out, heard the call soon she came to Agam.

Must have asked to be escorted back, Sara thought.

Agam's second call immediately stopped as Sara grasped the grip on the back of Agam's wheelchair to give a small jolt to her wheelchair. That's when Agam turned his wheelchair into a manual. And then Sara pushed him.

“Please stay here first, Mbok,” Sara said as soon as she finished positioning her wheelchair.

The deg! Sara immediately covered her mouth with both hands, worried that she was making a sound from her shock.

How'this? Why did he tell you to stay here? What if you talk?

But then ....

“Everyone said I was too selfish, cruel. What according to Mbok, I do too?”

Be present! How'this? How'this?

Sara's eyes were closed. Forcing the brain in his head to find a reason to answer. But his heart rate that was not because it actually made his brain stop spinning.

“Mbok? It's still there, right?”

Sara was getting desperate. He was panicking about what he should do.

Just at that moment, he saw both of his hands. His two eyes instantly widened.

Uhuk ... Uhukk .... Hukkkkk ...

Sara continued her cough without stopping. The longer the louder the sound and deeper. Agam did not stop calling Mbok Jami.

“Mbok? Mbok why?”

Uhukk ...

Sara then ran inside while continuing to maintain her coughing acting. Even inside he continued to cough.

Until it felt far enough, Sara began to shrink her voice, and then stopped coughing while peering at Agam who was behind her.

Sara breathed her leg. He started to rub his chest to calm him down.

Fortunately, believe me, his mind.

But it's not finished until there.

“Mbok ... Mbok ..”

Agam called back.

What else is this, God? Isn't it time to get in?

But Sara has to go there. And that was the only idea he had right now.

Uhukk ... Uhukk ...

“Still coughing, huh?,” asked Agam who sounded worried. “Mbok take medicine first. Later come again please push me in. After that Mbok followed me to the upper room. Something I want to love.”

Sara's dumbfounded. The cough stopped immediately. But, acting must be totality. Sara was still coughing as she went inside. After a few minutes, he returned to bring Agam in.

......................

For the first time, Sara was able to clearly see the contents of Agam's room after 2 times going inside. Neat, clean, and spaced enough for a moving wheelchair. It seems to be arranged in such a way for that.

Agam was still moving in even deeper, while Sara remained standing by the door. As soon as he finished, Agam turned around with a map in his hand.

Sara slowly approached Agam and took the map.

Australia, as written on the front page of the map and the island and flag.

“The youngest will soon graduate SMA huh, Mbok? This is a list of universities in Australia. Choose first according to his interests. Once you're sure tell me or Raka. We'll prepare.”

Sara's stunned.

“Do not think about cost. Everything is provided. After all, with his good grades, he could apply for a scholarship. So, don't worry about anything.”

Sara still stood in her place, looking at Agam with all her admiration. It was hard for him to be able to believe such a cold Agam could think of things like this.

“Mbok?”

Uhukk ... Sara almost shouted out of surprise. But fortunately his brain is still smooth accuracy.

“Don't think too much, Mbok. I just continue what I've done before. His two brothers, now his sister. It's an opportunity for them because they're smart kids. Unfortunately if not maximized.”

She ... is amazing.

“Ya already then. I took a shower and then I went down to dinner. Mbok can exit.”

Sara still looked at Agam. He was still busy with his thoughts that were admiring Agam. After more than 10 seconds, all his thoughts regrouped.

A shower? Shower!!!

He saw Agam take off his hearing aid and put it on a small table nearby. Then press something on the handle of his wheelchair.

Get out! I have to get out!

But then something happened. Somehow the story goes, the necklace broke and stuck to the fabric of his shirt. But the ring embedded in the necklace fell somewhere.

Sara was worried about looking at the door, but she had to find her necklace. There's a Vian ring there.

If it's not sought, when else can I come in here?, he thought.

Sara quickly lowered her body, in order to clearly see something round lying at the bottom of the floor or perhaps under the hollows.

THE HORN!

Whatisit?

Sara's body straightened and looked towards the door. He was sure it was a locked door. Slowly Sara approached the door and moved the handle.

Locked on!

Sara's cries had already begun to fill the contents in her head.
