The Surprise that Failed

Mentari's hand hugged her son with a tremble. He took a deep breath several times. Holding back her tears from falling and weakening turned her body.

"How are you, Er?"

Erdana did not answer. His eyes were fixed on the little boy who was in the sling Mentari. His round brown eyes, his pointed nose and his not-so-black, slightly wavy hair reminded Erdana of his childhood photos.

"How old is this kid?" ask Erdana. I don't know why his heart stopped beating. Her chest feels tight. Especially when the child is smiling and his hands are moving.

"Pa..pan....pa....!" with a happy face.

Silent mentari. There is no way this little boy knows his father, right? Is it because I always show him pictures of Erdana every night?

"Dance..., I'm asking you!"

Mentari looked at Diana who was looking at them in confusion. Diana could only speak English and Mandarin, so she did not understand what Erdana and Mentari were talking about.

"Diana, please bring baby As inside. I'll have a conversation with Mr. Erdana."

Diana takes baby As from Mentari's sling. He immediately brought baby As into the boutique.

Erdana stared intensely at Mentari. Look at the woman from the tip of the hair to the tip of the foot. He can make sure that Mentari lost a lot of weight.

"Er, how are you?" tanya Mentari could not hide her deep longing for the man she had almost 2 years to avoid.

"You sick?" asked Erdana while approaching. He could not hold his hand to touch Mentari's face.

Take two steps back. "We'll talk somewhere else. You got a car?"

Both of them left in Erdana's car. The car stopped near a deserted beach. Mentari got out of the car while trying to hold back her tears.

"You haven't answered my question. Are you sick?" asked Erdana when the two were sitting on a concrete bench on the beach.

"No!" mentari replied with a smile and looked at the sea that was in front of them.

"You lied! Why don't you dare look me in the eye."

The sun looked at Erdana. "Where's Yasmin? Is he not coming with you?"

"Don't switch the subject. 7 years we were together, Ri. I know exactly how your personality is. Why did you disappear?"

"We're not a match, Er."

"No match, how are we married? Why do you only think about yourself? Why don't you think about how I feel about you?" Erdana grabbed both hands of Mentari and grasped them tightly.

The Mentari's cries finally broke. This was what he feared if he had to meet Erdana. He was very weak in front of this man.

"I know you must be sick, Ri. And you hid this from me. There's no way you're thin like this. Have you forgotten that we once promised to share our joys and sorrows together?"

The mentor could not hold himself anymore. He hugged Erdana while crying. "Er, don't be like this. You're married to Yasmin. Why do you have to come and disrupt my life again?" Mentari hit Erdana's chest hard but Erdana didn't care. He tightened his embrace.

"I know that you still love me, Ri. I'm sure it is."

Somewhat long ago Mentari cried in the arms of Erdana but finally he let go of the embrace. "Er, let it all be like this. I don't want to disturb your household with Yasmin."

Erdana looked at Mentari while shaking her head. "I'll never let you go again, Ri."

"Er, I don't want to hurt Yasmin."

"It's enough that you've been selfish, Ri. You're sick and you're taking it all by yourself."

"I'm cured, Er."

"And the kid? Us Baby? Your kid, right? Don't you lie to me by telling me it's someone else's son."' Erdana cried when Mentari like to refute his words.

"Are you pregnant when we're apart? Answer me, Ri! Don't drive me crazy by lying to me again. When I saw baby As's face, it reminded me of my childhood photos." Erdana clasped Mentari's hand.

The tears fell again. Want to be hidden however, the face of baby As is very similar to Erdana.

"Baby As is your son."

Erdana let go of their handrails. He stood up and tried to breathe as much air as he felt that his chest was tight.

"You have the Mentari! You really are heart! You're gonna hide that kid forever from my side?" erdana shouted without being able to hold back her emotions. He vented his anger by kicking firmly a can of cold drink nearby.

The crying of the Mentari deepened. Until he finally felt his head hurt. Mentari actually can not be excessive stress let alone experience pressure.

"Er..please don't be mad at me. I...!" The sun holds his head. He could not stand it anymore and he collapsed.

"Monitor....!" shouted Erdana and immediately hugged Mentari before she fell to the ground.

Yasmin was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief when the hotel clerk allowed her to enter Erdana's room after she had revealed their identity and marriage book.

Yasmin's face was always smiling imagining how surprised Erdana would be to see it.

After putting his things into the closet, Yasmin immediately took a bath and put on the black lingre that Erdana liked, then arranged it with a black silk kimono as well.

He then contacted Erdana's phone but Erdana's number seemed to be off.

Maybe Erdana's brother still has a meeting. I will wait patiently for him.

Yasmin ordered the food through room service. He feels very hungry.

"Madam Mentari Furkan got an attack and fainted because he was under pressure. He has twice had surgery to remove a tumor in his head. The first surgery when she gave birth to her baby was not even 7 months old . He was operated on in Surabaya. He was in a coma for almost 2 weeks but eventually he regained consciousness. A second operation was conducted in Singapore about 3 months ago. I also don't know why Madame Mentari hides this from her master, in the event that the master is her husband." doctor Amelia finally opened her voice when Erdana managed to show her identity as Erdana Furkan.

"How is he doing now? I mean with a tumor on its head?"

"The tumor was successfully removed. But we're still checking whether the tissue will grow back or not. That's why patients can't be angry, tired, no more pressure."

Erdana felt her chest getting claustrophobic when she heard the doctor's explanation. He felt he could not imagine how Mentari could bear all. After leaving the doctor's room, Erdana headed straight to the Mentari's treatment room.

When he went inside, Mentari was asleep. Erdana had called her baby As caretaker through Mentari's phone to inform her that Mentari was sick and asked baby As to be taken care of properly.

When Erdana took her phone out of her pocket, she found out that it was running out of battery.

Yasmin wakes. After eating, he felt sleepy and fell asleep.

Slowly Yasmin stared at the wall clock that had shown at half 2 a.m.

Where's Brother Er? Why didn't he come home?

Yasmin tried to dial Erdana's number but it was still not active either.
