Memories of a Thousand Years

Memories of a Thousand Years
Wolfs

"Aaaauuuuuuuuu" the sound of the wolf howled so clearly. The sun is still bright. Everyone who heard it was astonished. I don't know where the wolf's voice came from.

Dylan stopped at a crossroads. Hearing that howl, he became separated from the others. Looking left and right there was no one there. Suddenly a black smoke appeared slowly. The longer it becomes clearer. Form an animal body. Not just one. But hundreds. Grinning shows her fangs. His gaze seemed to want to pounce on his prey. "Haha I've heard something like this. But it seems like this is different from people's stories." Soon he ran away from there. The dog chased him. Follow him wherever he goes. Barking is like chasing a thief. Dylan didn't fight back. Just running on. Don't want to deal with these creatures. "Bad. I'm a good man. Why do you keep chasing me."

Pradhika Wiriya is surrounded by hundreds of dogs. They occasionally barked at him as if telling him to leave his territory. Dhika squinted her eyes. Something's wrong with this. He realized. This dog does not belong to Bayu. Hundreds of dogs attacked him. Dhika is against it all. Without fear. Unmercifully. His sharp eyes seemed to say they were going to kill everyone. Nothing is difficult for the Balapati.

Rinaya was still standing in her place. Hearing that howl he hesitated. "That Wolf? Dogs?" Two animals from the same family. But it's certainly different. The nature of both can be distinguished.

A shadow appeared across from him. Not very clear. But he can see her features. Someone as tall as Balapati. Wearing a dark red hood. He's trying to chase her. I wish he was someone he knew. The shadow looks very real. Not illusions. The longer it is visible. The same characteristics as someone who passed him in the next village. He kept following his steps. "Wait" he yelled at the man. He also stopped at a dead end. "Show me who you are!"

The man slowly turned around. Her hood still covered her face. The fog-covered lighting makes things not very clear. Although Rinaya squinted her eyes hoping to recognize the person.

"Meet!!" The people suddenly whispered behind him. Rinaya turned around as well. "I'm sorry to disappoint you" Morang told him with his signature laugh.

Attention distracted. He turned his head around making sure the man was still in his place. But he doesn't exist.

"Searching someone?" Morang. He knew what Rinaya was thinking.

"Stop bothering me."

"You want to meet him?"

"S who do you mean?"

"He." Someone appeared behind the intersection. Slowly approaching the two of them. That guy's. The stature and face she was very familiar with. Wearing a dark red hood. Bayu.

Rinaya's eyes started to shake. Freeze. Can't say what. The figure was as true as he knew it. She doubted. Is this guy really the Bayu he knows? Or just an illusion?

"We continue the game. I'll let him do it for me. I'll watch from far away. I'm sure you can let go of all your feelings for her." With an occasional laugh he seemed to find one thing that he was happy with.

"What do you know about me?" Rinaya asked with her cynical tone.

"really. I guess what I know about you. You're very mysterious. I can't even read your mind. I can't guess your fear either. I'm just sure you're not an ordinary person." He returned to his typical laughter. "Is my guess right this time? I gave him as a gift. Instead you tell me where it is."

Rinaya Laughing. "Haha do you think like this I can tell where it is? Youre right. I eliminated. So it's useless to ask me."

Morang's smile instantly disappeared. Turned into anger. That quickly he changed his emotions. Really not sane. "Then I let her be with you forever." He snapped his finger. Like a sign or a command. Bayu immediately ran over to Rinaya. As fast as lightning his hand clasped Rinaya's neck. He could not escape at all. He's strangling. Rinaya rebelled using all her strength hoping to escape the strong grip. Bayu raised it until Rinaya's feet floated no longer touch the ground. Look at his eyes empty. Rinaya started to realize one thing. He said, "You're not Bayu."

"Gee. You can know that fast." Said from a distance. Watching everything. "You're right. He's just a copycat. Aren't I great. Could do this. I'm sure you'd like to meet him."

Rinaya could no longer think. His breath stopped in his throat. Slowly Rinaya began to lose consciousness. This figure of Bayu. Really wanted to make him die.

Rinaya does have a protective god. Wherever he is. He believed that in this situation someone would help him. He believed God was not sleeping. He believed God was always with him. He believes God still loves him. Even if he doesn't know what to do. He can only pray.

Suddenly his body was blown away. So too with the figure of Bayu. One of his arms was cut off. Someone did that to him. Someone who had helped him from Morang's attack.

Who'sis that? Rinaya tried to get up and take off the piece of arm that was still gripping him. Sometimes he squinted his eyes at who he was. He quickly fought with Sosok Bayu. His strength beyond fairness once hit Sosok Bayu was immediately bounced away. The figure of Bayu can compensate him but still with one arm He lost in the hands of that person.

Bayu's figure turned into a puff of smoke after He hit him very hard. Rinaya is still watching him. Likewise with Morang "Bother!!" His word. Before long the man turned to look at Morang. Rinaya finally realized who it was. But he's very different.

"It's impossible....how can it be?" As if I couldn't believe he saw it. This senseless thing.

Morang ran away. Stay away from that place. Again the man ran after him. Rinaya immediately chased them. But they're too fast. He lost track of them. He ran to keep looking. "Where they went. It's disappearing fast."

He complained with a breath of breath. Then back to running.

Someone pulled his arm. Entering a small house. Closing all doors and entry access. "What are you doing?" Rinaya asked Dylan. Who just closed the door.

"Sststd. Don't noise. The dog is still chasing."

"Dogs? Where's?"

"Look?" The sound of the dog's barking became clearer. They peeked out of the hole in the window. Determine outside circumstances whether it is safe or not. Shortly afterwards Balapati arrived. Chased a few big dogs behind him. He turned around and raised his sword. The dog he had disabled, decomposed into black smoke. Then disappear. Quickly and swiftly he killed the dog. Another group came. As if there were no end. Run and attack him. But at once Balapati swung her sword.

"Wahh, he's so great" whispered Rinaya.

"of course. That reputation doesn't play for him." Dylan replied confidently.

"Why don't you help him. They're hiding here."

"Haha. No-no. What I did it for. He's enough."

"You scared?"

"Huh? T is not. Not at all"

"really?"

"** of course."

"Then go. Help him."

Dylan rolled his eyes as if thinking he would make excuses for not doing that. But something happened outside. "Look! Someone's coming." Dylan Whisper.

Someone is standing in the opposite direction from Balapati. Stare at him with a flat expression.

"You?" Balapati knows the figure. He also seems to not believe. That man died Fifteen years ago. Just something different from him. His face looks more pale. The ball is no longer white. Red overall. But the corneas remain the same.

"Have not met for a long time. Mr. Wiriya." Said slowly.

Rinaya who was peeking out from behind the window really felt disbelief. He used to see it for himself. That man was killed at that time. Dylan held him back as Rinaya wanted to get out of his hiding place. "wait. Let's see it first."

"Aren't you-?" Balapati sentence is truncated. And the man continued his sentence.

"Have died?. Is correct. I should have been dead by then."

Dylan asked Rinaya "Who is that guy?" Dylan doesn't know what happened. But he must have heard some of the stories.

"My partner. One of the members of the Halimun group. His name is Jaka."

Dylan's eyes were wide open hearing that. "Did I hear wrong?"

"What's wrong?" Ask Rinaya back.

"The story later. I have to see this first."

A group of dogs came again. Bigger and more than usual. Jaka wasn't worried about that. So too with Dhika. The dog surrounded them. Bark. Like trying to throw them out. Or tell his master that they found his target.

"That's a real Dog!" Rinaya was still peeking out the window.

"Meet!!" Rinaya and Dylan were shocked by the sound. Someone just arrived behind them. In the same room. "It's useless that you're hiding. Wherever you are. I always find you." No more laughter in the words. He held back his anger for what reason. It looks more scary than usual. Rinaya petrifiedly looked at him.  Dylan opened the door. He knew this guy might be dangerous. Dylan walked slowly out of the house. So did Rinaya. Morang offset his steps forward to approach them until he got out of the small house.

They're in the middle of Morang's dog. It must be like that. But Jaka? Where is he taking sides? Everyone doesn't know. The look on his face gave no clues at all.

"Stop bothering me!" Rinaya said to Morang.

"You think you can get out of this village? I won't let it." Morang blew his two fingers. There was a whistling sound. What's he calling?

A crowd sounded from the distance. The longer it becomes clearer. A group of humans came in a group. Surround them all. True as in the past. That guy's guy. Not human. "W-What's going on?" Rinaya looked up at that.

Morang laughed "haha. What say. These are all my work."

"What's wrong with that guy?" Whisper Dylan to Rinaya.

"They are no longer human." Rinaya obviously told him.

Of course those people were different from the ones who had attacked the city. 'The result of the work' if Morang calls it that then there is human intervention in it. They have black faces. His eyes were red, blood flowing. They don't blink. They're like the undead.

"Are they not beautiful. I wanted to imitate her but I never could." Morang.

"You really amazed me. But this undead I don't think will last long." Reply Rinaya mellowed.

Morang holds his chin. "wah. You know about that too. I have never shown this to anyone. Great guess. But you're right."

"You tell me who you want to emulate? Is he so great?" Ask Rinaya.

People smiling. "You've seen it." He nodded his head. Pointing one figure near them Jaka. "My work can't match it."

Everyone looked at Jaka who was still standing there. Without expression he remained silent. Thousands of questions were engraved on each head that witnessed the conversation. Jaka looks different. But he doesn't look like all Morang's dolls. Jaka smiled cynically. As fast as lightning he ran over and attacked Morang. That fast also Morang dodged and retaliated against his attack. While the two men were fighting, the Dogs and the undead began to attack. "Dylan I think you should get used to dealing with this dog." Rinaya.

Dhika unhesitatingly swung her sword. Cuts to pieces whatever becomes his enemy. Rinaya could only avoid as much as she could.

"Stay in the middle" said Dhika. While he was holding the enemy from one side. And Dylan on the other side.

"Good cooperation" Celoteh Rinaya in the middle of the battle.

"Can't you do something? Wasn't the other day you were so great?"  Dylan said as he occasionally cut the dog.

"This time you are the main character. Just get it done quickly. I want to get out of this village." Rinaya Reply.

"What about Jaka?" Rinaya asked as she gasped for a run.

Dylan "I think he'll be fine. We're getting out of here."

Slowly the fog began to thin. The sun is seen peering behind the earth's lines. The day is getting late. The south gate of the village is visible. Unlike the entrance of the north gate which was covered with rocks. The south gate looks poranda. Someone must have destroyed it.

They're still running. The living corpse was still chasing. But not as much as before. They also passed through the gate. But the undead and the Dog stopped behind the gate. Not through. It was as if the limit of their lives was just reaching the gate.

Dylan "they're not chasing out?"

Dhika "Sama like Morang. Never left the village. They must have followed him."

Something came quickly. Jaka floated bouncing through the gate. He must have gotten a hard hit. Your Majesty is seen behind the fog. Someone was standing behind him. Bayu. Artificial wood. They just looked at him from behind the gate. Then retreat and disappear with the fog. Same with the dogs and the undead.

Rinaya helps Jaka get up and stand up. "What's going on?"

Jaka lowered his gaze and looked down as if he wanted to cover his eyes that were no longer the same.

***

It's dark. They spend the night at an inn in a nearby village. Although it is quite a long walk. Finally, it was on time and stayed there. Pradhika Wiriya seems to know all the regions. He travels a lot because of a task. Even he is very famous. No need to spend in. Even some people will always give what the Balapati needs.

Jaka covered his eyes with a white cloth. He didn't want everyone to see him differently that way. Dhika and Dylan came from behind the door. Carrying a tray filled with food. Rinaya smiled seeing the tray so full of food. "I'm sure all the way you're just thinking about food" Dylan said. Rinaya just pouted hearing that without retaliating.

Dhika, Dylan, Jaka and Rinaya sit at the same table. They eat at the same table. "You found a clue?" Ask Dhika

Rinaya "Come. Looks like a clue."

Dylan "what kind of answer is that?"

Rinaya "I have to complete all the information first. Uh. So you're not eating?"

Jaka answered flatly "I don't need to."

Rinaya put the spoon. "Hmm.. Can I ask you something?"

"Of course the princess. I'm sure there's a lot you want to ask." The answer.

"What's happened to you since then? Why are you being like this?"

"That's a long story Princess."

"I can actually guess. But... I still have doubts."

"I think your guess is correct."

Dylan frowned upon hearing a conversation he did not understand. "Eh.  This conversation is only you who understand. You don't see us here? At least speak clearly."

"I think you're the only one who doesn't understand" Ledek Rinaya.

"Falapati! You understand what they're talking about?" Ask Dylan. And Dhika nodded slowly. Dylan was upset. He came back with food on his plate and ate it.

Rinaya "Did you find the Chief?"

Jaka "Daughter. Fifteen years ago a lot of things happened. You'll know the truth soon."

It doesn't answer his question at all but Rinaya Tau some things Jaka can't say at will. Many things that are true must be understood first. Otherwise, all the information would just be mere rumors.

Rinaya put something on the table. Show it to Jaka. A chopstick needle that paralyzed him a few days ago. "Jaka. Do you know where this came from?"

Jaka was covering his eyes. But without opening the lid he could guess what Rinaya put on the table. He calmly replied, "Isn't it ours? We made it once. But never wear it."

Dylan "can you see that without opening the lid?"

"Of course" Jaka replied.

Rinaya "About a week ago I was paralyzed with this. Do you have a clue who did it?"

"Nobody survived at the time. Except me. But I didn't do it. That thing you kept well in your room. I think you know someone who might be back there." Slowly he answered it. He didn't know what was going on at the time. Such a fast event. Which he knows everyone's dead. But he also realized someone had disappeared from there.

Rinaya sighed. His eyes are back heating up. He guessed what happened at the time. He already knows the answer. That's why his heart was getting sliced by the words Tama said to him.

"Princess. You didn't ask about that guy?"

"That guy?" Rinaya asked in surprise but Rinaya just fell silent. Bows his head. He wondered if he should ask about it or not. He knew who he meant but he was afraid to open his mouth.

Dhika opened her mouth "Have you ever met her?" The question represents Rinaya. "Is he still alive?"

"I can't say it" Dhika replied.

Dylan chimed in "Hey. After you fished him out why would you answer like that?"

Rinaya "I won't ask you that again."

Dylan. "Then let me ask. In that village. What's your relationship with that crazy guy? Why so many undead? Why are so many dogs? Do you know who he really is? You have to answer this."

"I chased him from another village. Someone resembles someone. Until finally arrived in the village. All those crazy people. Morang. I heard he was a junior at the same school as Mr. Wiriya."

"really that. Balapati?" Ask Dylan.

Dhika just nodded.

"Then?" Dylan

"I'm just upset. He made a lot of undead. He deliberately took me there for a try. I can't just be quiet. I want to break his neck."

Rinaya "So she's really a copycat. But imitating who?"

Jaka smiled "I think your guess is right again."

Dhika "So it's true?"

Dylan "What's right? You guys are confusing me."

Rinaya sighed. "You're an investigator but why so stupid."

"What's? I'm just confused. You're talking about things that only you understand." Reply Dylan.

Rinaya looked at Dhika. He nodded in agreement.

Rinaya "if I draw a conclusion then my guess should be 90% correct. Bayu is still alive"

Dylan "well, I'm listening."

Jaka smiled hearing that. She knew that Princess Nirmala could indeed think about it. Jaka was always amazed at him. How to think he makes a plan carefully is always full of calculations and produces success

Rinaya "around the village of Sunyi many people disappeared and never returned. Chances are people are doing something to them. He could not leave the village for one reason. That's why he lured people into it. One of them made rumors about Bayu's Wolves. Even he made a clone similar to her. The goal is for people to intentionally enter the village. It just so happened that Jaka got hooked and got into his trap. That's when he tested his undead. Right so?"

Jaka smiled "I never doubted you."

Dylan "Then? How do you know he's alive?"

Rinaya "Fiveteen years have passed. He still wants to play with me. Fucking me with his Faux Bayu. Even his dog. He even made the undead. The only person I thought I could do that was Bayu. I'm sure he's met her. That's why he made such a similar imitation."

Dylan "Eh. Waitwait. You think Bayu can do all that?"

"It's a little complicated. The fact that he controlled the creature is true. It's just that his is different. Not like the dog in the village."

"What about the corpse?" Ask Dylan

Rinaya replied "me and Balapati got the information. I don't know the details but. Jaka was very badly injured. As if it couldn't have survived. He no longer even blinked his eyes. I think at that time.....I'm sure it has something to do with the parasite that's stuck in her body."

"Parasites?" Ask Dylan in surprise.

"The creature evolved. If the creature was deliberately summoned then, the goal all this time might want to be like Jaka. Strong body resistance. Strength increased. I don't think I need to eat much either. It would be very easy to win a war if all the soldiers were like this."

Dylan rubbed his chin. "Do you think it has anything to do with the slave trade?"

"No closing the possibility. With hundreds of dead bodies in the village. Still can't keep up with Jaka. Maybe they need thousands of test subjects to develop them."

Dylan with a stern tone "you're not playing with what you're saying? You might be wrong. Be careful in speaking"

"Dylan. You're a Special Investigator. I'm sure you've got a lead. Why are you talking to me like that? I didn't even offend anyone. Ah... Let me guess. What does this have to do with government officials?"

Dylan. "I'm investigating it. I can't conclude anything."

"It turns out to be true... Haha. The longer the puzzle pieces are the more obvious."
