CHAPTER 64 | Misunderstanding

“Where is he? Who's the guy with him?”, Ken asked suspiciously.

Ken got up from his sleeping position on the sofa and placed one of his hands on his waist while staring intently out the window waiting for a response from Laura. Just now Laura wants to answer Ken arrived their call was cut off because Laura's phone ran out of battery.

“Robert, give me your charger, my phone is off and I'm not carrying my charger”, Laura said in a hurry.

“Sorry but I didn't bring him Lau”. Said Robert while eating the fried chicken he was carrying.

“Ah.. Damnit. Why is this happening? I'm sure Ken must have misunderstood me”. Her words were upset while randomly shuffling her hair

“Stupid basis. Why did you come to my office so late? Don't you see the board that says close at the door?”, said Laura annoyed.

“ Really, in a few days your cousin will get married and this is how you treat the brother who has been looking after you for almost fifteen years?”, replied Robert annoyed.

“At least slow down your voice, my lover will be angry if he finds out I'm alone with another stupid man”, said Laura annoyed.

“Do I look like anyone else to you?”. Reply Robert while putting one piece of chicken into Laura's mouth.

Laura is happy to be able to communicate with Ken, but Robert makes a serious problem for her and Ken's relationship. Now there was nothing he could do but wait until tomorrow to give an explanation to his lover.

Ken felt suspicious of Laura's lover. She felt that Laura was hiding something from her as long as the two of them did not see each other. Ken tries to contact Laura to straighten out the matter but Laura can no longer be contacted which makes Ken think that it's not about Laura.

“He can't be contacted again? What the hell is going on? Who's the guy? A wedding? Who will marry?”, he murmured.

Many questions have been raised in Ken's head since he heard another man calling his girlfriend and asking her to eat together plus they discussed a marriage. Which lover is unsuspecting when the woman he loves is alone with another man and eats together while talking about marriage?

“Tak... Laura couldn't have cheated on me” she said reassuringly.

Last night Ken couldn't sleep thinking about who the man with Laura was. Until the morning, Ken was still awake. He got up from his bed and saw a dark circle just below his eyes that damaged his good looks. Soon he went to take a shower and tidied himself up before going to the office to work.

Even when Ken gets to the office, Laura doesn't preach to him or straighten out what happened last night. It felt like Ken approached Laura to ask for her explanation directly but it was impossible for her to do so. In her unfavorable situation, Laura contacted her and Ken immediately answered her call.

“Ken. What happened last night wasn't what you thought. Trust me”, Laura said on her phone.

“What do you think I'm thinking?”, asked Ken

“I can't explain everything from this phone Ken. Give me three more days and I'll come to you at the office and explain it”, Laura pleaded.

“Just whatever”, reply Ken no matter.

“Ken, please don't behave like this. Three more days of Meli and Reno's divorce trial will be held and I desperately need your support Ken” said Laura.

“Lau, you're not cheating behind my back, are you?” asked Ken suspiciously

Even though Ken knew that it was impossible for Laura to do it, Ken still asked her questions simply because he felt annoyed at Laura, his lover.

“What did you say? I would never do something stupid like that, Ken. I love you and so on will always be so”, Laura assured Ken.

They kept quiet for a moment and said nothing. Ken tries to trust Laura and Laura to try to convince Ken that last night wasn't what Ken thought it was.

“Ken. I really need you, your support is very important for me to win this case. Please don't be cold to me. I love you”, Laura said.

Hearing Laura's last words before she ends her call makes Ken happy and smile to himself like a boy who just felt love. He even covered his happy face with both hands and acted like a boy.

“Rein. I miss you so much”, Sam said begging.

I understand where Sam was talking when he said that but unfortunately I don't want to do it right now. I smiled and shook my head in denial of his wishes Sam held back his grasp and pleaded as he continued to look at me.

The more I resisted the more he approached me with a face of begging that he always put on me when I didn't give him what he wanted. I ran out of words to reject Sam's invitation until Mira finally saved me with her innocence.

“Mama, mma has promised to read a fairy tale to Mira as many as three books”, said Mira looking at me.

I smiled at Mira's words that felt like saving me from Sam tonight. Sam couldn't wait for me until late at night because he had to be close tomorrow morning and he had to be in top shape.

“Alright darling. Mira asked mama to read five books tonight will also mama do”, I said while staring at Sam sharply.

Seeing Sam sulking makes me laugh because he is too adorable especially with a large and tall posture and sulk like a child. I held her hand to calm her down.

“I promise tomorrow we'll do it”, I whispered

“Can we do it tonight? I will wait for you Rein”, he said pleading

“Didn't you have a meeting tomorrow? If you couldn't bang in the morning then how?”, I asked.

“I am the leader and I can postpone the meeting as I like”. He answered while playing a spoon on his plate

I chuckled at Sam's funny-sounding reply. As great as he is when his wish is not granted by me then he will do everything possible to get it including sulking in front of me. And this time I grant her wish because I can no longer see her sulking like this. I wanted to feel like I pinched his cheek as he sulked at me.

“Good. Let's do it tonight, baby. But you have to wait until Mira really fell asleep even though it was late at night”, I said granting his wish.

After finishing cleaning the dining table and kitchen I was impressed to bring Mira to enter the room that had accompanied Sam watching television while spilling all his dolls to play.

“Mira, let's go to bed. Mama will read the storybook”. I said while putting all of Mira's toys in the box.

Mira was very happy when I read a story book even though she had known all the fairy tales but her favorite story books that I read before going to bed were huge. I took Mira's hand into the room. But after a few steps, Sam stopped my steps while smiling sweetly at me and kissing my hand.

“I am waiting for you”, he said with a smile.

Time showed me at nine in the night and I've finished two storybooks but Mira still hasn't fallen asleep. His eyes were still strong enough to stay awake and listen to more stories.

“Mama, Mira is not sleepy yet. Random again one story for Mira until sleepy Mira”. He pleaded as he pulled the blanket over his body.

I looked at the clock on the wall and then looked at Mira who was welding on me. He looks a lot like Sam. I chuckled as I stroked Mira's hair and nodded my head.

“Alright, let's see what other storybooks are here?”, I said while choosing another storybook for Mira.

Sam waited in the room while playing his phone waiting for me to come from Mira's room while occasionally looking at the door until he was bored. The sound of a clockwork second made Sam like he could not help himself anymore to immediately pull me out of Mira's room. Until finally the door opened, I went into the room and saw Sam was still awake until tenpm with a smile waiting for me.

“Do you know how happy I am?”. asked Sam as he approached me.

I kept quiet and watched him walk closer and closer to me and my heart was beating fast enough. I don't understand why but I certainly can't stand to see Sam looking at me like that.

Sam got me and hugged me while kissing my forehead. Now he led me to my death and pushed me. I had not seen the other side of Sam like this for long until Sam finally managed to control me and that night we did it again.
