Raffles

Raffles
The Kitchen Observer Group (KPD)

Entering the fifth day was inside the forest,it did not feel that time passed so quickly. Not felt also we began to get familiar with each other is no exception with two people who came from Yogya that I have told at the beginning of this chapter of writing. It turns out that the two of them are single men who have long been in the world of nature lovers. They are graduates of the state university in Surakarta and have participated in the annual expedition activities in this national park two years before we held this expedition. So no wonder if the two of them were familiar enough with the forest environment we were in at that time.

Let me introduce the names of both of them are mas adul and time anang. We call it mas because they are from Java and indeed native javanese. At first they were not very familiar with us especially the women. Maybe still shy times. But on the fifth day Ayu and I started to get along with Mas adul.

Starting from the two of us who did not participate in the prayer service, so every time magrib or isya we were in the kitchen with the memeis. Help them prepare dinner or just talk to the memeis. Are you two not Muslims? ask memei raffles' mother. Not may, I am hindu and she is christian, Ayu replied. Oh it is fitting that you tra I have seen participating in prayer with them, said the memei.

It turns out memei pay attention to us even though they rarely talk like this, I said. Yes from here it is always seen every morning you tra ever join their deng prayer, said one more memei. We just smile to respond.

Shortly thereafter, Masi adul came to the kitchen. It seems like the mas is smart to cook and is familiar with the memei. Before long Ayu and I finally chatted and became familiar with mas adul. It turns out that it is true mas adul jago cook. He likes to make chili and fry fish. From that day on we became the three occupants of the kitchen and helped the memei cook. Ayu and I who are not too good at cooking are sometimes ridiculed by mas adul. But no matter what the name is also still learning.

Thanks to being often in the kitchen, the other participants nicknamed us a group of kitchen observers that they briefed on. Since then we have had a new call. Although only cooking indomie and salted fish but the taste is always fun chatting with adul mas and memei.

There is also the advantage that the three of us become kpd, because every time we prepare lunch to go to the forest the memeis always prepare more for us, because every time we prepare lunch for the forest, even when dinner was not infrequently memei gave us more side dishes in silence. Hehe, it's pretty good to eat a lot of it too.

From so many conversations we had with mas adul finally Ayu and I knew that mas adul was the youngest child. According to the story he really likes nature and decided to work like his job now, although not with a big salary but he can channel his hobbies and love. Through its work, Adul has often been in and out of the forest in various regions in Indonesia, including to this forest is the second time.

He said that working is not just about getting a salary, but how about working something that becomes our passion and love can be realized and we enjoy living it is the most important although it is undeniable that money is more important than everything sometimes.

Well, so the more happy to major in my college after getting enlightenment from Mas Adul. Actually at the beginning of college I was pessimistic and felt wrong, but it turns out after passing many things actually made my love for forests and nature higher.

In the woods, I invited my two friends to a discussion. "It looks like it will rain big, we go back to camp how? this tomorrow will be continued again, fear of heavy rain and we are trapped in the river, I said. I think it would be better if we go back to camp just tea, said Mat agreed with my proposal. Because our location this time was quite far from the camp and they knew that I could not swim. What if the river water is high and I am washed away? That's what I'm afraid of, too.

Not only did we turn out that other squads had returned to the camp first for fear of heavy rain and stuck in the river. They were waiting for us squads who had not returned to the camp while the rain had started to fall. After deliberating, I, Dika and Mat immediately ran out of the forest. But just now we managed to get out and arrive at the river bank, the rain had already come down heavily. The river water in front of us was not so high that we tried to keep breaking through it even though the clothes were wet and our steps in the water were getting more difficult.

Only half the journey of the river water is getting higher. I began to panic because I was afraid of being dragged by the current, especially when we bring the camera. What happens if the camera falls into the water and is damaged?

"Teh, here the camera let me just bring, cried Mat with a loud voice because the sound of rain and river currents are also strong. I gave the camera to Mat. They both held me left and right so that I would not fall because of the rushing river. "Teh, bring a raincoat? ask Mat. "There's a bag but it's a wet bitch so don't have to be made again, I replied. Earlier because of the rush out of the forest and panic, we did not have time to wear a raincoat when we brought it in the bag.

"Ra, did we go to the edge of the river first, that's it. The river current is so strong?ask Dika to me. But mas if shady is also the same, anyways want to shady where, fear of tree branches on falling, I replied because in addition to heavy rain also strong winds at that time. I knew they were both worried about me not being able to swim, but I could still try to keep walking in this river even though it was slow. The important thing is we got to camp.
