Redstone: Sanctuaries
The Extra Story [Nolan]

Rolan was stuffing the documents into his black leather bag when the bedroom door clicked open and someone burst in. Reflexively, he snatched the knife from the fruit basket on the nightstand and prepared for a possible attack.

There was no attack.

There was only Nolan, with her sand blonde hair tied up. The two cheeks of the girl were blushing reddish, her little shoulders rising and falling in an irregular breath. Next to the girl's hand was still clutching the door handle.

Rolan threw his knife back into the fruit basket. "If the one in this room was Marco, you would have been thrown out" he said cheerfully. "Thank God it's just me here. Oh, if you're looking for Jose's letter, I'm not the one holding it. I don't think it's there this morning, or there isn't."

"I'm not looking for a letter" Nolan said. "Jose won't be sending any more letters."

This is new news. Rolan did know that there had been no letter from Redstone for Nolan this month, but he thought it was only a temporary holiday because Nolan had just started working. The girl got a job as a typist at the town hall. He stopped arranging his documents to look at Nolan. "Why? Marco forbid you?"

"Do you think that if something changes in my life, it's because someone else is forbidden?"

Rolan laughing. "Of course."

"I decided it myself! And it's not because you forbid or Marco forbid or anyone forbid! I just don't want to bother Jose anymore!"

"Well, fine, forgive my impoliteness. Then, why storm so if you do not want to find something? You sick?"

Nolan lowered his head, showing his bleeding right elbow. "I .. I fell."

"That's a small wound. You can either treat it yourself or ask Margie to help, "Rolan lamented. Even so he still took out the medicine box and told Nolan to sit down. "Is there anything else that hurts?" ask after cleaning the blisters. "Your head, goods times? Your brains? Your sanity?"

"Jeanne said you're leaving."

"Not going but coming home," Rolan corrected. He threw the used cotton into the trash and cleaned the medicine box. "Jeanne and Marco have started to calm down after having children, they will not wander around to get themselves killed again. Renata and Edgar return to Argent. There's nothing else I can do here."

"Are you Marco's right hand?" Nolan protested. "You should always be around him, right? That's what the right hand does!"

"No. He'll call me if there's a need and his people will call me if they want to say something." Rolan sat down to plunge himself on the edge of the bed, by the side of his large bag. "My house is in Orlov. I was called here because of a missing persons case. The problem is over, so I have to go home. Why, anyway?" He laughed at Nolan's sad face. "If you miss, you can call me anytime from this house. George likes you, he'll let you use the phone. You know how to wear it, right?"

"Can I call?"

Rolan blinked in surprise at Nolan's reaction. He was just flirting, he thought Nolan would rebuke him or annoyed with mocking jokes about kangen. "Eh .. Well, I don't know for sure, but I think you should still ask George for permission" he said.

"George allows, really. Jeanne too. They've been saying for a long time, I've also been taught how." Nolan was still sitting in his chair with both hands intertwined on his lap. "I mean, can I really call you?"

"Oh, I had a fight with the bad boys earlier." Nolan rubbed his hair, pulling one dry leaf stuck there. "They chased the cat and threw him with a stone. Inspector Chester said the cat was abandoned by a ship coming from Nordem, so there was no master. It was gray-white and his face was fierce. You must see! You've seen cats, haven't you?"

"Seeing a girl who is wild like a cat is often," said Rolan, starting to be relieved because Nolan returned to acting as usual. "Then you brought her home?"

"Later to be trampled on by my sister."

"So you brought it here?" Rolan guess. "You want to keep it here? Just so you know, Jeanne's allergic to cat dander."

Nolan sighed. "I know," he muttered, "I heard it from Margie."

"I don't like cats, so I don't want to take them either" Rolan refused before Nolan could speak. He began to understand the reason for Nolan's arrival. The girl probably wished she could keep it. "Give it to Chester. I know he likes cats."

"She was more often outdoors, and her child was still a baby. His wife was afraid that the cat was carrying a disease. He said the cats ate rats, so his wife was disgusted."

"Eating the rats. The ship's cats were indeed kept for hunting rats."

"You have no way?"

"Give it to the captain of the ship. There must be many who are willing to accept." Rolan quiet. His laughter exploded looking at the girl's heart-wrenching expression. "You want to keep it to yourself, huh?"

"I can't. I'm rarely home" Nolan muttered sadly. "The servants no one wants to keep a cat. They're busy."

"Actually, there's one other person you can ask for help." Rolan smiled. "You know the guy, too. If you ask, I'm sure she'll take care of the cat like a royal princess."

"Who?"

"Lord Marsh."
