Redstone: Sanctuaries
Chapter 28: The Rolan

Rolan came in the afternoon, looking as relaxed as ever. Edwin picked up Rolan from Aston as soon as he got a call from Argent's manor there.

Redstone was spread a few miles between the rock mountains. Some say, the previous king of Albion piled stones there as barricades, so people around call the place as King's Stone.

Despite losing glitter to Aston, Redstone was also filled with a busy hum of humans. Lots of tourists, workers, locals, traders, everything was spilling over, cluttered in the dusty streets. Humans mixed with horses, pedicures, carts. The road was just beginning to be deserted as Rolan exited Stonard and entered the center of Redstone.

Now he faces a more humane and civilized crowd at Redstone's Center—center. The streets are cleaner. Tall buildings dominate the region, with pointed roof edges decorated with religious statues. Not a few angels with wings spread out like stone pillars. The vehicle passes through a high clock tower with large marble pillars. The tower looks old. Rolan looked around in admiration.

Edwin led them through a small market, then straight towards a large house located not far from the heart of the city.

The house was gilded with giant carvings, with pointed edges challenging the sky. There are a lot of workers standing guard there. Two of them immediately opened the gate so that they could enter. The page is wide, wider than Argent's manor in Bjork.

Rolan jumped out of the car. He let his suitcases be taken care of by the workers, but his beloved black bag still he girded. The door of the house was wide open and Jose stepped out from there to greet him.

"How are you, Jose?" Rolan exclaimed happily. He hugged his nephew tightly, patting the curly black-haired head softly. "You look tired. The newlyweds' lives are exhausting, eh? That's natural."

"I'm healthy, Uncle." Jose laughs. "Sorry to ask Uncle to come all the way. I thought Uncle would be here tomorrow at the earliest."

"You said Maria's name, so I came as soon as possible." Rolan turned his head to Maria who was waiting patiently beside Jose. Maria wore a long dress with a more modern touch, without too many folds. The woman's face was bright. "Heyya, pretty niece. You look fine."

"Good, then." Mary smiled sweetly. He hugged Randy warmly. "How's Uncle doing? Thea how?"

"Good news. Thea could lie on her side a little. You should've seen how Lady Argent celebrated her daughter's accomplishments." Rolan shook his head in amazement. "Every day is a party."

"Fest?" Jose frowned, remembering that Marco did not particularly like parties. "It's not a big party, is it?"

"A small garden party, inviting her friends to show off what Thea's doing." Rolan grimacing. "Actually it's quite comforting to see Marco's expression. On his face it was clearly written: I love this woman, but she drives me crazy and sometimes I miss my life when I'm alone."

Jose could imagine that. He gave a long chuckle, along with the joke that it was karma for Marco. They walked in, with the waiters following behind carrying suitcases from the car.

Rolan was relieved to see his nephew look as cheerful as ever. He thought Jose would turn out to be grumpy and grumpy because of the problems at Redstone that he knew never stopped.

"So, how many weeks is it too late?" rolan asked immediately as soon as the front door closed behind their backs. His smile spread wide.

Mary raised one eyebrow in surprise. A few seconds later, his cheeks were red. "It's not like that, Uncle! We call Uncle not because of that."

Rolan's face turned serious. "Didn't you? You know, still can't?"

Jose immediately understood what his uncle's question meant about being late. Now his face was also slightly reddened. "We'll talk while we walk, Uncle. By the way, Luke is here too."

"Clearwater Lashes?" Rolan squinted his eyes suspiciously. "Jose ... You're not involved in scary stuff anymore, are you? I thought I was called to Maria?"

"Yes, it was for Maria. I want Uncle to make sure of his condition" Jose whispered as he grabbed his uncle's arm, asking him to walk up first. Mary was behind them, instructing Edwin and Susan in an almost inaudible voice.

"Wait .. Don't tell me Maria is sick?" whispered Rolan. "You think you called me because she's pregnant?"

"No! She's not .. I mean, not yet. No children yet" murmured Jose. "We've only been married for two months."

"Marco immediately had a child once he got married, Edgar too. You're pretty fertile, except for Jacob. But I guess it's because of Olivia; her family always only produced one or two children, she's her own only child after ten years' marriage."

"Having children is not our priority right now."

Rolan laughed softly. "All right, I know you're busy. What is this really about? Maria looks fine."

"Indeed, he also admitted it was okay. It's just, I'm a little worried. Maria doesn't want to be seen by a regular doctor. That's why I called Uncle. Wouldn't mind staying here for a while, would you?"

Rolan shrugged his shoulders. "certain. I know something's wrong here. Than Maria, it was you who looked sick. Your face is pale, you're also thinner."

"I couldn't sleep for a few days" Jose admitted.

"Because of Mary, right?"

"One of them, but not as Uncle thought," Jose said quickly, knowing Rolan was thinking of something else.

"I haven't even said anything yet" Rolan defended himself. "You want me to check it out now?"

Jose nodded. He took Rolan to his room and briefly told him what happened last Monday night.

Rolan listened quietly, the longer it seemed to be more interested. He was not at all surprised to hear his nephew was involved in supernatural things. They had already faced directly with the devil, according to him there would be nothing else that would be able to surprise him again. If demons exist and can fall to earth like rain, he thinks anything is possible. The existence of ghosts is not an amazing thing.

"Where's that bracelet?" tanyakanya. "I want to see if his teeth are real."

"Mary took him," Jose replied. "I put it in a small bag and asked him to keep carrying it."

Jose weighed in for a bit, thinking whether he should tell his uncle what he could see. He had never said this to anyone but Mary. But he did not know how to explain what he was going through. Sometimes he sees strange lights. Sometimes he sees nothing. Sometimes it seems obvious, but not always. Sometimes he hears voices.

What if his head is broken? Jose thinks about it sometimes. What if he's sick? Maybe this is all delusion. Maybe he's gone a little crazy since he met the devil and drowned in the river.

"The bracelet feels like it has positive energy," Jose finally just said that.

Rolan seemed to be in disbelief. He knew that his nephew was just like the rest of the Argent family— was very concerned about the family. There's no way Jose's messing around with his wife's safety. But he just nodded, will not force first if Jose did not want to explain in detail.

Maria came into the room five minutes later. Rolan asked her to sit on the sofa in a relaxed manner, then checked Maria's pulse. He asked a few things, then nodded slowly.

"There's nothing. Maria healthy walafiat. But you guys are obviously exhausted. A little stress, I guess. You, Maria, must eat regularly. And Jose, you have to rest enough. That's my advice right now, but I still need to keep an eye on Maria further."

"You're eating irregularly?" Jose looked at Maria in wonder, not understanding why it could happen even though the meal schedule in this house was very timely and there were many servants who were ready to serve his wife.

Mary dropped a glance at the carpet. "Regulated .. These two days are regular."

"Two days?" Jose turned to look at Susan, who was also in the room for following Maria. "Mary doesn't eat it regularly? Why don't I know?"

"Don't upset Susan," Maria quickly defended. "Every time you go, my appetite kind of wanes. That's why sometimes I don't eat. Only sometimes. Just one or two times. I'm still eating."

Rolan turned the eyeball. "You should talk to each other more often. Communication is important in marriage. By the way, the dead who visited you are still here, right?"

"Mrs. Decker's in the library," Jose said. "I'll drive Uncle."

Rolan nodded, smiling knotingly seeing Maria pull up Jose's arm and steal one kiss before letting it go.

"She just drove me to another room in this house, not to the battlefield" Rolan said.

"Uncle knows what Jose is like," said Maria tangkas. "Remove a glance from him for a moment, knowing he's gone and in danger."

"That's right. That annoying nature hasn't changed, has it?"

"Get worse, I guess. Maybe because there's nothing on the brakes for him here."

"Yes, just keep going. Assume I'm not in the same room" said Jose monotonously.

Rolan laughing. "Alright, let's go meet Hubbert first. I have a message from Lady Argent for her."
