02. A Prejudice

On a street in Bogota, Eryn stared blankly at the front. He did not care about everyone who was busy passing around him. The sirens of ambulances and some police patrol cars were unpretentious and deafened his ears. Moments later, his body collapsed unconscious.

An ambulance attendant immediately carried Eryn's weakened body and drove towards a nearby hospital. One of the officers contacted the family of the unconscious girl.

A few hours later, Eryn began to open his eyes and pay attention to his surroundings. The room he was in was all white. He knew he was in a hospital room.

"When am I here? El?" His mind was suddenly fixed on the lover, Eldric.

Eryn immediately got up and limped. When he was about to open the door handle, he said he heard the voice of someone he knew. It was the voice of Edward, his father.

"Sorry, Mr. Albana. We didn't find your son's body in the car that fell into that abyss. Seeing the condition of the burning car, it is certain that your son will not survive" said a police officer.

Eryn's body froze instantly. Then his body fell to the floor. Her tears are flowing again.

Edward, who heard crying from inside the room, immediately entered and saw Eryn sitting on the floor crying.

"Darling! Are you conscious?" Edward grabbed Eryn's body to sit on the sofa.

"Dad... Is El really gone?" eryn asked with a face full of tears.

"Darling, we still can't be sure." Edward tried as quietly as possible not to make his daughter sadder. Although in his heart also rumbled and crowded.

Eryn hugged Edward and cried there. The middle-aged man rubbed his daughter's trembling back.

"In Mr. Eldric's car. The car was evacuated and we found this" replied the policeman.

"Then where is El? Did you find him too?" eryn asked a little scream.

Edward immediately calmed Eryn down.

"Sorry, Miss. We didn't find him. There was no one in the car. Allegedly temporarily, Mr. Eldric has been killed."

"No! That's impossible!" eryn shouted hysterically. He thrashed and asked the police officer to find Eldric.

Edward who could not bear to see Eryn's condition immediately embraced the girl's fragile body.

"Dad! This can't happen, can it?" ask Edward.

"Dad!" snapped Eryn.

"Pacify yourself, boy! We can get through this." Edward tried to make Eryn understand.

That same day, Edward did a funeral procession without a body in the chest. The old man began to accept the fact that his son was dead. What about Eryn?

The girl fell silent and did not say a word after the incident this morning. The girl's eyes were blank as if her body was lifeless. Of course it is. He lost a man he loved dearly.

Eric, Eldric's best friend also did not expect that his best friend would leave so soon. He continued to look at Eryn who looked sad and fragile. Eric also accompanied Edward until they returned home.

"Thank you, Eric. You are a good friend" said Edward.

"Uncle don't worry. I will continue to look for evidence of this accident. Didn't Eryn say that Eldric couldn't stop the car? That means there's someone who deliberately cut Eldric's car's brake cord."

Edward stared. "You're right too, son. But who could do this? Eldric has no enemies."

"In the business world, all comrades can be enemies, Uncle. Albana Group is a large company in Colombia. Moreover, Eldric was very capable in business. There must be a lot of people who want to destroy it."

"There is a suspicion that your son was intentionally removed, Mr Albana," the officer said.

"What do you mean?" ask Edward.

"Are you not suspecting someone?"

"Who do you mean?" Edward did not understand.

"Your daughter, Sir. She ... Not your real daughter, is she?"

"Whatdidyou say? So you're accusing Eryn? She is a nice and polite girl. Don't ever talk to me about this again! Now get out of here and assume you never said anything to me!" edward resolute.

"Sorry, Sir. But please listen to us first..." Authorities explained to Edward the reason for Eryn being accused of being the cause of the accident.

Unbeknownst to Edward and the police officers, Eryn was standing not far from them and heard all the talk. His chest was tight to hear the accusations from the police.

Eryn shook his head slowly then returned to his room. She was crying back there.

And tonight, Eryn stared into the darkness of the night from the balcony of his room. The night breeze that started piercing her skin, made the girl decide to enter and close the balcony door. He went to his study table and stayed there.

Then he took a pen and wrote his story in his diary.

"I'm not hungry" replied Eryn.

"Eat! I brought your favorite food." Eric sat on Eryn's couch and opened a food pack.

"Do you think the same of them?" ask Eryn.

Eric took a breath. It must be difficult to be in Eryn's position at the moment. His status is only an adopted child, making him have to get suggestions from many people.

Eric smiled and replied. "No! I don't believe what they say. I believe you..."
