Chapter 203: Meanwhile

*Clarification just in case, everything in this chapter happened in conjunction with what happened in chapters 201 and 202.*

The day before, Duran had just said goodbye to Rio and was about to return to his palace. Reiss appears in his path and begins to complain to him for following Lucius' plan instead of his, and for sending him somewhere random when he asks where Rio and Lucius are, but Duran was just pretending to be stupid and making excuses. Now he asks Reiss how he found the place, and he replies that it is a secret while looking at Lucius' sword.

Duran tried to leave when he saw Reiss' gaze, but Reiss asked if he could return Lucius' sword to him. Duran says that the sword was something he received from his new rightful owner, Haruto, so Reiss says that it was he who lent the sword to Lucius, so the sword became his. Duran asked if there was any evidence, so Reiss offered to exchange it for some Devil swords. He then added a lie about the sword devouring the soul of its user as well, he then spoke of that sword being clever and capable of choosing its owner. The sword only recognized an annoying person like Lucius as its master, so Duran tried to use his magic power on the sword to check out Reiss' story. The sword must not have recognized him, so Reiss repeated his offer. Duran then agrees to return the sword after Reiss gives him the promised Devil sword.

Reiss accepts and says that he may have a job for her in a few weeks, and Duran then asks if this is about Rio. Reiss confirmed and said that he had tried to arrange a duel between Lucius and Rio as well, but Lucius scrapped Reiss' plans because he did not believe him and called humans troublesome living things which meant he did not understand. Duran says that he understands Lucius' feelings, that no man gives him worse feelings. Then Reiss went in the same direction as Rio, but Duran stopped him and asked if he could win against Rio.

Reiss denied it, stating that he would die without hesitation if they fought. Duran then asks why Reiss is after him, because he understands from seeing the fight against Lucius that fighting him is suicide. That if in the worst case there was a war between Galarc and Proxia because he did something to Rio, he might have to come down to the battlefield as well. What's he gonna do? He might have to fight it first, and he would not lose the battle.

That if a diplomat from the Proxia Empire appeared before him while the princess sister was with him, it would be more difficult to deny the implications of the Proxia kingdom and the Paladia Kingdom in the incident. Reiss says that for now he will only follow her because Christina and Flora are important people and knowing their intentions is important. He told Duran that he would not do anything to them while they were still in Paladia Kingdom and left, but Duran had a bad premonition upon seeing his back.

At the same time near Rodania, while Aishia was fighting against Reiss, Celia hid in the Rock House. When Aishia returns, they go to Rodania and she learns of the disappearance of Christina and Flora. The next day she sneaks out of Rodania and meets the other girls in the Stone House's living room, telling them that Recovery is in big trouble. He explains that Christina and Flora are missing, that someone attacked their magical ship and took them away, leaving many victims and Vanessa almost dead as well, without any clue about Christina and Flora's whereabouts now.

Sara asks if they should help looking for Christina, but Celia says that it is better for them to focus on protecting the stone house when Rio is not around, even more so when Reiss might be hiding somewhere. Sara said later that she did not believe that Reiss had anything to do with the disappearance of the sisters when the time was very close to his infiltration of Rodania. Alma also wonders why Reiss sneaked in the Recovery fortress, then Miharu asks if her current target is Celia herself. Celia thought she wasn't Reiss' target because she ran away back then, she saw him.

Ouphia asks if she reported Reiss's synfiltration and she replies that they were also looking for him at the same time as Christina and Flora. The restoration people were already suspicious of the Proxia Empire's involvement in the disappearance of Christina and Flora. And it was likely that the Arbor Faction was inside as well. Latifa then asked Celia if she was okay from being worried about the anxious face she was doing, but Celia tried to calm her pretense. Latifa then said that it would be nice if Rio returned quickly.

At the same time, in the Rubia Kingdom, Silvie was looking through the window of the room where Renji was still sleeping. Elena walked in and told Silvie that lunch was ready, she would guide him to the dining room. Silvie says that she is not hungry, but Elena is worried about her because she has also missed other foods, so she tries to convince Silvie to exercise to build an appetite. Silvie refuses because Renji might wake up while she is outside, so Elena asks to entrust that to the servants and asks why she should lose her time with such a man. Silvie begins to think about what happened three days ago, when Renji was completely defeated by Lucius and how he allowed her because she was unable to choose between acting as Princess or as elder sister. She wonders if she can save Esther if she joins Renji in the fight from the start. Silvie tells Elena that her contact with Reiss is still kept secret that there is still a chance to save Esther behind the scenes. Elena does not trust Reiss, saying that they still do not know what he will ask after Renji's defeat, that he will definitely demand more things in the future and will become Silvie's enemy. Silvie wondered what to do from now on, while Elena glared at Renji considering how much she disliked him even in the slightest from the start. Silvie then asks Elena to bring her some soup to the room.

Silvie then reminds Renji how he used to duel with adventurers, but he stops in the middle of the road, thinking about how a duel risked something was something very serious for the nobles but how among adventurers the norm was looser. But despite that he still heard a lot of rumors about Renji starting a duel with people who looked down on him to then take their property, he said, for that reason and use them to boast in front of the losers. Silvie now asks Renji if he ever let the person he defeated renege on their promise, and Renji still does not answer.

Silvie asks if she in other words will never let others break their promises, but she intends to renege on her own promises, in other words running away. Renji still did not reply, nor had he been able to stare at Silvie for a while. Silvie then called him pitiful, talking about how he recognized his rebellious talent towards the injustice of this world despite not knowing the world, but his eyes were wrong, he said, he was just a cowardly thug who only dared to fight against those he considered weaker than himself, and that he was only a delinquent.

Renji was still just looking at the ground while gritting his teeth and clenching his fists, Silvie asks if she has nothing to say and where the person who speaks big and arrogant in front of her becomes a Princess and says that she will do so never forgive those who humiliate her, that she humiliated him and Elena laughed at him.

Renji then asks why Silvie told him all that, and Silvie asks why she didn't scold him with how much trouble he caused her. Renji then says that he is not a coward or a runaway, that he is trying to save Esther, and that coward is Silvie who is not helping her. Silvie then says that he must be one of them as well, but different from him he will not run away from Reiss, that he shouldered his country as well and not only Esther, but also his country, he then explained how the Proxia Kingdom was behind Reiss and that he could cause a war with him to jump in without understanding anything, he then asked if he intended to fight the Proxia Kingdom with her when he already planned to escape just from his promise with Reiss. Renji tries to forgive himself for not knowing about the Proxia Empire, but Silvie reminds him how many times he was warned by Lucius and Reiss himself that he stabbed his nose at something he doesn't understand, after that he reminded her once again.how he only spoke, he called her pitiful once again when he did not even dare to look at her face and told her to also get out of his country. Elena then asks confused what she will do about the promise between Renji and Reiss, she says that she will explain it to him somehow, he then asks Renji if he is not going yet or if he wants to be cut down there, Renji then apologizes to Silvie and says that everything he says is true, that she could not say anything, Silvie then asked what it was and called it a hindrance.

Renji says now that she will help Esther, let her work together and after helping her too she will do whatever it takes to compensate for the problem to her. Silvie then smiled gently at Renji who seemed to be slightly recovering from his usual spirit. Renji insists on being serious with what he says, Silvie apologizes and thanks him for his feelings but says that he still has to leave the castle. That he had great strength but he was still a childish man blinded by it, that he would no longer be involved with a child like him. Renji then protests over being called a child and reminds her that their age is not much different, they argue a bit about how childish Renji is or not. Silvie reminds him how he intends to renege on his promise with Reiss, saying again that he is just a little boy given great power by his divine weapon. How he lived as he pleased by abusing that power and avoiding bonding with everyone, but it would not work forever. In this world his strength could not do everything, in fact he had already been defeated. Even if it was difficult to defeat him individually, sooner or later someone would attack him in groups, that from now on he was the greatest enemy of his country that had corrupted him. Silvie stood up and grabbed her sword and Elena jumped at him for stopping him, while Silvie tried to break away from Elena, Renji said again that he would not leave. Silvie says once again that she is just a child and that way she will become a Reiss doll if she stays. Renji replies that if an adult takes responsibility then he will. Silvie then yells at him to do what he wants, after Elena releases him, he leaves the room followed by Elena.

At the same time Reiss looked to the Stone House where Rio was with Christina and Flora from the sky, guessing that he would stay there for a while to let Flora recover. He then decided to give up on Rio's assassination plan. That the risks and profits were not appropriate, he thought because Lucius the situation had become very troublesome now. He wondered about what would happen if the three returned to such a Restoration. That most likely since he was seen in Rodania there would be suspicion that the Kingdom of Proxia was involved in the abduction due to the Restoration and the Kingdom of Galarc knew that he was connected to Lucius. That in the worst case they would be suspicious as well of the Arbor Faction. Then Reiss started thinking if he should pretend to be dead for some time so as not to attract Rio's attention. He wondered if Lucius' subordinates would still obey him after his death. He then decides to make a new Silvie pawn that replaces the missing piece and uses it as a scapegoat from Lucius' mess. He then wondered how to make her meet Rio along the way. He decided to follow Rio during his journey and decided based on that. Reiss lands, he signs on the ground and decides to go to Arein, Lucci and Ven.

Reiss teleports to an abandoned village where Lucius' subordinates await his return. He knocked on the door of a house and Arein opened it. He then asked Reiss why Lucius was not with him, as the three of them were waiting for his victory to return there. He told them the first thing that Lucius was killed by Rio. Lucci they say that if it's a joke, it's not funny. Reiss says that it was no joke and Lucci begins to deny Lucius' death cries. Arein told her to stop yelling but she kept making a fuss while Arein and Ven gritted their teeth in silence. Reiss then tells them to confess that they helped him kidnap Christina and Flora and that he already knows everything. Arein and Ven admit it, Reiss tells them indirectly that if they follow his plan rather than Lucius, he can live now because it makes them feel more guilty. That no matter how good a mercenary he was, Lucius was not strong enough to use dirty tricks. That he used them because he was weak. Lucci said that it was a lie, that Lucius was not weak. He falls for Reiss' provocation and says that he will prove Lucius' strength by getting his men to defeat Rio, then Reiss says that he has a job for them that includes fighting with Rio.

Arein and Ven made a hard face recalling when they fought against Rio and thought of the difference in their skills. Lucci then asks if it's okay for him to kill Rio, Reiss says that he doesn't care if they kill him. That once they fight him, the job will be done, then Lucci accepts but Ven tells him to ask about the condition of the job first. Lucci then says that it is Lucius' revenge and asks if they are afraid, Ven asks him if he forgot how they are not Rio's opponent. Arein then asked if his condition would be the same as usual with the Proxia Kingdom as a client. Reiss confirmed, after promising Lucius' sword as a gift, Arein asked him to first explain his plan in detail.
