CHAPTER 39 - Story At Conference

"If the business of marriage, made easy. But for divorce matters, the procedures and rules are complicated."

That's roughly the sentence Rambo heard from someone he met while going through a divorce proceedings today. And indeed, Rambo feels the complexity of the process. There must be a trial process conducted several times. It has also been shortened by the court because several stages are combined at one time.

"The one you married was human. It is not the angel who will forever be right, nor the shetan who will forever be wrong. So it's only natural that there is a mistake. All of that can still be resolved kinship."

It was a sentence of advice delivered by the Judge at the first hearing of Rambo and Erin's divorce. But the advice did not apply to Rambo, as their purpose of the trial was only for administrative settlement.

Around nine in the morning some time after that, Rambo came to the Court. Apparently, there are also many married couples who are going through the trial process. When Rambo reported to get the order number of the trial, he saw five pages of paper containing the names of the couples who will be in session also on that day. If one page consists of ten couples only, it means that there are thirty married couples whose household fate is on the edge, just like the household with Erin.

After waiting for a while, it was his turn and Erin entered the courtroom. There were four people sitting in front of the medium room. One in the middle may be called the Chief Justice, because the youth is the one who speaks the most. The other two sitting on his right and left, may be the member judges. While one more person who sits in the corner is the person in charge of calling the names of the couples who will be in court.

"Well then. Sister Plaintiff and Defendant, brother came here based on a call that had reached the two brothers a few days ago, and the call was declared official and appropriate. Today is the first hearing on a divorce case between Erina Widya Karisma's sister as Plaintiff and Rama's Brother Bobby Suhendra as Defendant." The presiding judge presided over the divorce case between Rambo and Erin.

"In accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, then on the first day of this hearing, we are obliged to advise the Plaintiff and Defendant brothers that the divorce is not good for the two brothers. Wh why? because with divorce means that the sacred bond that has been established in a family will be destroyed. What has been aspired for a happy ending is like a dream that becomes pseudo. It would be better if all the problems that arise in our household can be solved in a family." The judge paused while putting eye contact on both Rambo and Erin. Then continue;

"Therefore, make peace. For the Lord will bestow His mercy and compassion if we are to be at peace and forgive one another. Fine, please judge the member pass on his advice to make peace to the parties."

"Thank you, Chief Judge. The Plaintiff and the Defendant. If we look at this affidavit, it appears that the two brothers have been in a domestic relationship since April. This shows that the age of marriage that the two brothers have been through is still very young. Surely many future memories are very sweet to create. We should be able to forgive each other. Especially for the most valuable people in our lives." The judge on the left, the member on the left,

"The husband and wife's blessing is a sacred bond that is very unfortunate if it ends in divorce. So we hope to the Plaintiff and Defendant sister to undo the brother's intention to divorce, the whole family is the dream of all of us. A marriage is formed to create a family that is sakinah, mawadah, warahmah. This goal will be achieved if based on mutual love and awareness of their respective positions.. Well, for this case in my opinion if the brothers Plaintiff and Defendant realize let's settle peacefully only. Thank you, Chief Judge."

Once the member judge completes his advice, the presiding judge again takes over and moves on. "Alright then the brother of the Plaintiff and the Defendant. May the direction and advice we gave to the two brothers create peace and harmony, and can attract your heart to undo the intention of this divorce. How's the Plaintiff's sister?

Erin broke into tears, obviously she strongly agreed with the opinion of the judges, but what to say, now Erin has no power to defend her household. Despite being claustrophobic, he briefly steals a glance at Rambo beside him, hoping Rambo will block all of this from happening. But, let alone to undo, not even looking at him at all.

With a heavy heart and full of pain, Erin spoke up, "No Your Majesty. I've been thinking carefully and I stick to the will in the lawsuit."

Until the next trial. Where this time Rambo came to trial is not alone. At the previous hearing, the judge asked that each family member come to be a witness. Rambo comes with his mother and brother, doctor Rani.

They came earlier than Erin who came with Papa and Mama-in-law Rambo. Based on the number of queues, the trial they will undergo will be held in the third order.

Just like the previous two hearings, the trial will be held in Court Room I. Just like the previous hearing, the judges who served in the room came later than the other two courtrooms. The first trial in Court Room I only began after another courtroom had carried out some of the proceedings.

After submitting the necessary documents, as well as the testimony of witnesses, finally came the reading of the verdict, whether their divorce lawsuit was granted by the judge or not. At this moment, just like before Erin was already crying tears. Likewise with Rambo, from earlier he struggled to withstand the turmoil in his trembling chest.

"The Semu Trial of the Religious Court, which adjudicates civil matters in the first degree, Case Number: 123/Pdt.G/20**/PAJS, between Erina Widya Karisma's sister as plaintiff with Rama's brother Bobby Suhendra as defendant, said, on this day, Monday, September 11th, it was declared open and closed to the public." The presiding judge opened this trial followed by a hammer knock 3 times.

"Good morning, Plaintiff's sister?"

"Good morning, Your Majesty." Answer Erin.

"Is the Plaintiff's sister in good health and ready for today's trial?"

"I am in good health and ready to attend today's hearing."

Then the Chief Justice continued on Rambo, "Good morning, brother Defendant?"

Rambo took a prepared stance, then replied out loud. "Good morning, Your Majesty."

"Defendant Brother is your brother in good health and ready for today's trial?"

"I'm in good health Your Majesty and ready to attend today's hearing."

"Well, Brother Plaintiff and Defendant, the next event is the reading of the court's decision on the case with the register-number The verdict is read alternately by the Judge, starting from the Chief Judge, I, I, Judge member II and be re-terminated by Chief Judge."

Erin is not evil, Rambo is not evil. But they are not good if united, maybe this is a lesson for everything that is forced. Let it be a story for each, and be one of the ingredients that complement Rambo's struggle in pursuing his true love for years.
