Sister of Ipar Nalang
Chapter 30 Devan's Office
POV Lilis
After returning from the market, I kept warning Mbok Urip not to tell him about the incident in the market. I don't want to let Brother Devan worry just because of the little things.
"I beg you, Mbok. Don't tell me what happened, yeah. Mbok wants to, if I suddenly can not go out the house again with Brother Devan?" I kept whining while holding Mbok Urip's arm.
While Mbok Urip just silence, with a small smile. Not accepting or rejecting it. Keep putting the groceries to put in the refrigerator. I helped too.
"What's this?" Suddenly, my mother was in front of us.
"E-eh, is Mama home?" I stammered, being too surprised by Mama's arrival. I hope you don't hear what Mbok Urip and I are talking about.
"Yes, Mama's home. Why are you stuttering like that?" Mama squinted her eyes at me.
I'm shaking. "No, really, Ma. I'm just surprised. Don't hear the sound from the front."
"Mama'kan emang set out to take a taxi online, do not bring your own car.
"Oh, yes, forgot." I'm laughing a little.
"Lis, tomorrow Mama and papa have to go to handle that branch office out of town."
"Why should Mama and Dad go?" ask me with sadness.
"You want, if Devan goes to handle the branch office? It's a long time, you know, right there," seduced Mama.
"Don't Devan either. I mean, Lilis, can't anyone trust papa?"
"Can't, honey. Because we also want to look at our old house that is being built there. Coincidentally the place is close to the mountains, so the atmosphere must be very beautiful."
"Papa's mom is not old."
"Kan, Mama told us about our old age. How, anyway, you?" We laughed together. "Yes, already. Mama's gonna clean up first."
I breathed a sigh of relief, after Mama passed towards her room. Mbok Urip smiled as he shook his head.
"Mbok, I'll take a break, yeah. Later when it's time to cook for dinner, mbok call Lilis. Lilis wants to mama's favorite food to eat together, before they leave."
"Yes, No."
In the afternoon I cook my favorite food mama and papa food, namely rice hainam, chicken butter sauce, and chickpeas oyster sauce. Not to forget, chicken broth soup as a complement.
"Well, why is Mama and Papa's favorite dinner menu all?" ask Mom when we want to have dinner.
"Yes, Ma. Tomorrow's Mama and Papa are leaving, so I want to cook your favorite food."
"Taste you good, Lis. Mama and Papa will surely miss your cooking."
Glad to get compliments from my own in-laws. "Eat him, Mama and Papa don't be long, yes there," I whine.
Mom and Dad smiled in response. It makes me a little sullen. The house will feel empty. Both of them were like mom and dad.
"What time are you leaving tomorrow?" sis Devan asked as our dinner was running out.
"Seven o'clock in the morning we left the house" replied Papa.
"Ma, I can help you with the things that will be brought tomorrow, right?"
"Yes, I can."
After dinner, I helped Mama with the things she was going to bring tomorrow. Papa and Brother Devan are sitting in the living room.
Finished helping Mama, we joined the family room. Talk warmly, before they travel out of town. They probably came back before I gave birth. I thought they were only gone for a few weeks. Turned out for months.
I wanted to sleep with my mom. But Devan forbids. All night long I slept with my back to him.
In the morning I spent a lot of tissue because I was separated from Mama and Papa. Yes, at 7 am this morning they have departed from home using a car.
"Darling, if you cry and stay rich, I can't go to the office."
"Just go there, brother. I'm just still sad to be separated from Mama" I said, pulling out a tissue, wiping away tears.
"Where can I leave you in a gini-rich condition."
"So, don't go there. It's nothing, really. I'll heal myself later."
"Yes, already. But later if there's anything directly connect Brother."
"Yes, yeah. It's there. Be careful on my husband's path." I immediately kissed the back of Kak Devan's hand and handed him his briefcase.
Maybe I was so tired of crying, I fell asleep. The clock is already at number eleven. It's lunchtime soon. Suddenly my gawa rang with Kak Devan's name plastered there. What's up, huh?
"Hello, assalamualaikum, sister."
[Waalaikum. Honey, I want to ask you a favor, can't I?]
"Please what?"
[You go to my workspace, then please find the file with the blue map. Then you ask Tejo to take you to the office. The file wants me to use for a meeting later with a client at lunch.]
"Ready, Boss! Oh, yeah, why don't you just get the office guy to come home?"
[Time doesn't allow to go home, honey. Not to mention if it gets stuck on the road.]
"Oh, yeah, yeah."
[Sorry I can't talk for long. Be careful at home, yes. Assalamualaikum says. Iloveyou.] The connection has been cut off.
"Vaalaikumsalam. Me too, Brother."
My lips smiled ashamedly at her words. In my heart I always ask. How much you love me, brother.
I immediately went to my husband's office, looking for his files. After meeting, I immediately looked for Mas Tejo to deliver the file immediately. It was like I heard her voice in the kitchen.
"Mas Tejo, why?" I asked him to see him sitting.
"Have you seen the doctor, Mom?"
"No need, no, Non. Already made salt water solution with Mbok Urip."
"Yes, already. Hope you get well soon, yes, Mas."
I went straight back to the room. If this is the case, it is impossible to get Mas Tejo to deliver this file. Yes, I've been the one to deliver. The sooner the better.
Riding an online taxi, I was in front of Kak Devan's office. I didn't expect to be the wife of a big company owner like her. Although my own brother-in-law is also the son of a large company owner, but I don't want to boast of someone else's property.
I walk with my heart racing. This is the first time I've come here. There was a security standing in front of the entrance.
"I'm sorry, sister can't just go inside. Must permit first. Whose sister? What's the need to come here?" ask me, stretching out one hand. But still be polite.
"I'm Lilis. Want to drop off the files left behind for Mr. Devan."
"Wait a minute here!" Security looks suspicious of me. He walked a bit away, then pulled out his communication device.
A few moments later he came back. "I'm sorry, Mom. I don't know. Please sign. Mr. Devan's room is on the seventeenth floor."
"It's okay. Thank you, yes. Good job, sir!" I answered while smiling at him.
"Ready, Mom!" he said with respect.
Security is friendly. Unlike in soap operas, fierce regardless of who is in front of him first.
Kak Devan's office entrance uses a sensor system, which makes the door automatically open and close itself. As soon as I entered the lobby, I could immediately hear the whispers of the employees on this floor.
"Who is that?"
"Either. Looks like a teenager. But, what, her belly is bloated?"
"Don't hit him."
Even though they spoke while whispering, but my sharp ears could still hear them. Instantly my nyaliku instantly shrieked, making me have to lower my head.
"The company doesn't pay you to gossip."
I immediately raised my head, to see the voice of who it was. A man came out of the elevator, which was right in front of the lobby. Walk straight and steady. His eyes looked sharply at all directions. He stopped right in front of me.
"I'm Revo, Mr. Devan's assistant. Please follow me. He was waiting in his room" he said politely to me.
I suddenly became a wave. "Ah-oh, yes. Let's." Let's."
The man who called himself Revo invited me to get into the elevator first. Then he spoke to all the employees here.
"For those who still want to gossip about the director's wife, please write your resignation letter, put it on my desk."
Instantly the room was silent. All the employees focused their eyes on the monitor or keyboard screen, and some even pretended not to see us.
Revo hit the number seventeen, according to security earlier said. Brother Devan's room is over there. One floor that is only devoted to the director and his secretary.
"Please enter!" revo said as he opened the door of Kak Devan's room.
Inside there is seen Kak Devan sitting in his chair is seriously staring at the laptop. Unlike the time at home, simple and very rancid. Lucky for me, the secretary is all male.
"Lilases! Why are you taking it?" he asked after feeling my presence.
I smiled, walking towards him. "Mas Tejo has a toothache. Pity that he should drive."
"But I'm worried about you and the baby in the belly."
"You are calm, yes. I took a taxi online, all right."
"Next time don't repeat."
I just grinned and scratched my head that wasn't itching to respond.
"A little while lunch time. Sorry I can't accompany you for long. I have to have lunch with a client. You go home with the office driver, yeah."
"No need, brother. I saw a new menu at the cafe near the red light. The new menu is about ice cream. I want that, no, it means the baby wants that."
"Can. But be careful, yeah."
"Ready Boss!"
Devan's brother pressed the number one button on his office phone. "Revo, please take my wife to the cafe."
The door opened after a knock. Revo looked down respectfully. "Come, ma'am," she asked me.
I say goodbye to Devan, then go back down the elevator to the first floor. This time they acted like they didn't see me. Although I know, in their hearts there must be many questions.
"Just take me here."
"Sorry, Mom. I'm just following orders" he declined.
"It's almost twelve o'clock, loh. I don't want to be your excuse, because I'm late for the meeting" I told him. Revo finally complied with my request.
The cafe I wanted to go to was across from Kak Devan's office building, separated by a highway. Since I'm a law-abiding citizen, I'll cross through a zebra cross. Only I will cross from this direction.
The traffic lights are red. The left turn arrow is yellow, while the symbol for pedestrians is green. The pedestrian can walk down the black and white striped road, to cross the road.
As I started to move my legs to cross, many people were shouting for me.
"Revelation!"
"Dodge!"
"Surge!"
I looked to the right, and there was a car driving fast. I want to run immediately, but the legs are suddenly difficult to move. But I still remember protecting my stomach.
My reflex closed my eyes. In my heart I am ready for what will happen next. A moment later I felt like I was in someone's arms, then our bodies rolled several times on the ground.
