Chapter 31: Passing easily

"Once again, due to complications, Reon was unable to learn magic until recently. If you keep fussing about this, I'll get mad" Kamila said.

"Even if you say that, I just can't help but feel frustrated because of the great talent wasted before me!" He breathed violently.

"I understand your frustration, but there's nothing we can do but move forward. Reon may have learned magic too late, but he's still very young. It was not impossible for him to catch up, if he trained hard enough."

"You're right... He may be late for the start, but his talent is still there. As long as we can train him properly, he will definitely become an S rank Adventurer in the future!" Bearnold smiled.

Guildmaster Bearnold went on to write down the results of the Riyan test into the clipboard he was holding.

[Magic Talent: S]

[Magic Affinity: Darkness(S), Wind(F)]

[Mana Capacity: 900]

[Note: Just started practicing magic 3 weeks ago. S Potential rank adventurer]

"Alright, let's move on to the next checkup. Follow me."

Guildmaster Bearnold took them to a wider room, where a human-shaped golem was resting in the middle of the room.

'Am I going to fight that thing?' Riyan wondered to himself as soon as he saw the golem.

"This is a Human Golem. It had prowess on par with a rank F monster. Your goal is to defeat him. However, you are not allowed to use artifacts or potions during the fight, and you only have 10 minutes to defeat them."

"A question?"

Riyan nodded and asked, "As long as it's not an artifact, I can use it, right? I want to use the sword."

"What's? You're a witch. Why do you want to use a sword?" Guildmaster Bearnold was confused by Riyan's request.

"Actually, I have more experience with swords than with magic." - Tell Riyan.

"What?!" Bearnold immediately turned to look at Kamila then slightly shouted, "What does this mean?! I thought you taught her magic!"

"It's true, but he's also practicing swordsmanship."

"That's ridiculous. He's a few years late, yet you're still wasting his time teaching swordsmanship? What are you thinking, Kamila?"

"How do I train it is none of your business, Guildmaster Bearnold. Are you here to advise me or to arrange an exam?"

Guildmaster Bearnold sighed, "Do you have a sword? If not, I can lend it to you."

"I have a sword. Kamila?" Riyan faced Kamila.

Kamila picked up the sword that Riyan used to use and handed it to him.

After the sword was in his hands, Riyan nodded at Guildmaster Bearnold, who reluctantly activated the Human Golem.

The Human Golem started moving a few seconds later.

Although at first the movement was stiff, it had long since become faster, and before Riyan realized, the golem had already dashed towards him.

The stone creature started throwing punches at Riyan once the distance was close enough.

'Although the punch seemed powerful, but the movement was slow! I can avoid it easily!'

Riyan wanted to test his training on the golem, so he didn't attack him and just dodged.

However, he quickly felt bored because of how slowly the golem was moving.

'This golem is weaker than I thought... Let's just end it...'

*Slaash!

Riyan suddenly used the first combo of Formless Sword Dance, sending out three consecutive attacks.

The golem stopped moving for a moment before collapsing on the floor, breaking into 3 pieces.

'That's all?' Riyan stared at the shattered golem with raised eyebrows, as if he could not believe how easily he could defeat the monster.

"Congratulations, you have defeated the Human Golem and passed the Trial of becoming an Adventurer.if this is an ordinary test." Guildmaster Bearnold said with a wide smile.

"Huh? Whatchu mean?" ask Riyan.

Bearnold suddenly stomped on the floor with his large feet, causing the entire room to tremble.

The Human Golem that had been lying on the floor suddenly turned into a pile of sand.

The sand moved shortly after, growing bigger and bigger until it turned into another golem, but it did not look like a Human Golem and was twice as big.

"This is a Sand Golem, and it has the prowess of a Rank E monster. If you want to pass the exam and become an Adventurer, you have to beat him! However, you are only allowed to use magic!" tell Bearnold.

"Bearnold! What does this mean?! This is not part of the Adventurer Exam!" kamila Protest.

"Kamila, this is my Guild. If you want to be recognized as an Adventurer here, you have to follow my rules. If you don't like it, you can go to another city and take another exam there."

"I just need to defeat him with my magic, right? I'll do it." said Riyan calmly.

"That's what I want to talk about! The golem will start moving in ten seconds, so you better get ready before then!" Bearnold.

"Ten seconds, huh?"

Riyan silently stood there and waited for the Sand Golem to move.

Ten seconds later, the Sand Golem suddenly moved.

However, before even being able to move his arm, Riyan raised his hand and pointed his finger towards the Golem.

A black line flew across the room in the blink of an eye before hitting the Sand Golem.

Black bullet easily made a hole in the head of the golem. However, the magic did not stop and continued to dart into the wall behind him, creating a fist-sized hole.

A few seconds later, the Sand Golem returned to being a pile of useless sand.

"Seriously?" Bearnold muttered in confusion after witnessing it.

'Within 10 seconds, he had secretly activated Black Bullet and filled it with Mana excessively. After ten seconds had passed and the golem was activated, he unleashed his magic, destroying it in an instant.'

'However, even though he had a plan, it would not work if his magic power was not strong enough. To defeat the Sand Golem, he needed at least 1,500 magic power. The Black Bullet just now was supposed to be close to 2,000 magic power...'

A faint smile appeared on Kamila's face when she realized what Riyan had just done.

"Did I pass the exam?" ask Riyan.

"Haha!" Guildmaster Bearnold suddenly started laughing out loud.

"Lumayan! Not bad at all! Alright, I will accept this defeat! Congratulations, Reon. You have officially passed the Adventurers Exam. And I'm sorry for my little joke just now. I want to see your magic potential and can't help myself."

"It's okay. I also want to test my magic." Riyan shook his head.

Some time later, Guildmaster Bearnold personally handed over the Adventurers License to Riyan.

"You'll need this if you want to leave town alone or accept missions from any Guild out there."

"Thank you." Riyan who received the Adventurers License in the form of an identity card.

[Name: Reon]

[EN:1505737101]

[Adventurer Rank: F]

[TTL:06/04/20XX]

[Blood: O+]

[Sponsor: Kamila (ID:646090913)]

[Created Date: 06/04/20xx]

[Cards: 06/04/2040]

"Now that you are officially an Adventurer, let's start your training" Kamila said.

"Have you? Shouldn't we be preparing for more? How about a lesson on monsters first?"

"You'll learn when you fight them. That's the quickest way for a guy like you to learn."

"May succeed. I can't wait to see what you become." Bearnold said to Riyan.

"It's good to finally see you back out of town again, Kamila." Guildmaster Bearnold turned around and disappeared into the building shortly afterwards.

Meanwhile, Kamila led Riyan into another room that had dozens of computers, as if they had entered a cafe.

"What kind of place is this?" Riyan asked.

"This is where you can accept the guild's mission and request," he explained.

'Huh. In a fantasy novel, they would be affixed to the entire wall like some kind of busy office, but this was pretty neat and more comfortable.

After they found the empty computer, Kamila instructed her, "Enter your card there. For now, you will only be shown missions that are in your class or below."

Riyan scrolls through the missions on the screen after inserting his card.

There are four categories of missions that Riyan can choose from.

Transportation missions, conquest missions, territorial control, or special missions.

"Do a conquest mission." Kamila.

"All right..."

After clicking on the subjugation mission category, Riyan automatically received a mission.

[Kill Monster rank F]

"Huh? That all? Shouldn't it be more specific?" Riyan looked at Kamila in confusion.

"Is that not specific enough for you?"

"I mean, how many do I have to kill? What kind of monster?"

"The number doesn't matter. You can kill a hundred or nothing. The type of monster was no problem either. Just kill whatever comes your way." Kamila explained.

"really? This is not a mission at all."

"No. Unless there is a monster causing trouble near our city or blocking the trade route, the guild will not share any official subjugation missions.

However, in order to leave the city as an F rank Adventurer, you must have a mission, then a mission as vague as this, like this, mostly just to tell the guild what you plan to do outside."

"That's it..."

"Now that you have a mission, let's go hunt some monsters." Kamila said a moment later.

"okay." Riyan nodded.
