The Artificially Genius Doctor

The Artificially Genius Doctor
The Hacker

On the edge of the city, stands a magnificent old house of Javanese architecture, with a red roof tile that contrasts with its dull white walls. Large trees decorate the courtyard, giving a soothing shade. Under the shade of the banyan tree, several chickens were running around, occasionally sounding echoing.

Inside the house, there was the sound of a piano clang. It was Rudi, a high school ramaja with straight black hair that was a little messy, playing a classic melody. His face looked solemn, yet behind it, seemed a glimmer of uneasiness.

A middle-aged man with graying hair at his periphery entered the room, walking in quiet steps. "Rudi," he said in a low voice, "we need to talk."

Rudi took a breath, stopped his play and turned to face the man. "What else, Dad?" tanyanya, trying to hide her annoyance.

His father sat next to him, rubbing his chin overgrown with a thin beard. "You know, being a doctor is not just about science and ability, it's about inheritance. Your family's legacy, our legacy."

Rudi sighed. The look on his face clearly disagreed, "Dad, we've talked about this. I'm not sure if I want to take that path."

For a moment, the atmosphere became silent. His father looked deeply into Rudi's eyes, seeking understanding. "I know you have your own interests. But you also have to understand, your family, your ancestors, they are all doctors. It's your blood."

Rudi stood up, walked to the window and stared at the lush courtyard view of the house. The peaceful atmosphere of the afternoon seemed to be at odds with the restlessness in his heart. "But, Father," his voice trembled, "does that have to be my destiny as well?"

His father got up from his seat, approached Rudi and placed a hand on his son's shoulder. "I just want what's best for you. As a doctor, you will have the opportunity to make changes, to help many people."

Mr. Harjo looked at Elsa, then looked back at Rudi. "You have to make a decision, son." Then, he left the room with heavy steps.

With light steps, Rudi walked down the middle school hallway, carrying a backpack containing thick books. However, for a moment he stopped when he heard a noise from one of the classes. As he peeked, he saw a dark brown-haired girl with thick glasses was busy fiddling with something on one of the computers.

Elsa, that's her name. A girl who is famous as a 'geek' at school, always with her computer and often aloof. But this time, Rudi's curiosity triggers him to approach Elsa.

"Elsa, what are you doing?" asked Rudi in a cautious tone.

Without turning her head, Elsa replied, "While trying to break into the school system. I'm sure there's a data leak here."

Rudi raised his eyebrows, startled. "Why do you want to do that?"

Elsa finally turned her head, giving a slanted smile. "Not for evil. I just want to show the school that their system is vulnerable. And maybe, they'll fix it." Then with passion, Elsa added, "Technology can change the world, Rudi. And hacking can be a tool for that, as long as it's used properly."

Although initially hesitant, Rudi began to be interested. Every day after school, he and Elsa start spending time in the computer workshop room, where Elsa used to 'play'. There, Rudi was taught the basics of programming, how to find weaknesses in a system, and many other things.

Both often engage in in in-depth discussions about the potential of technology, how it can be used for good, as well as the social and ethical impact of hacking. Elsa, with her deep knowledge, becomes Rudi's mentor, guiding him through a vast and mysterious digital world.

The computer workshop room with dull gray walls, noisy with the sound of computer fans spinning and keyboard clicks, became a silent witness of the increasingly close friendship between Rudi and Elsa. There, Rudi not only learns about the world of IT, but also about trust, friendship, and how one person can inspire another.

One afternoon, after hours of searching for a crack in the school system, Elsa quickly patted Rudi on the back. "I found it!"

Rudi scratched his head, "So, what are we going to do?"

Elsa thought for a moment, "We have to tell the school. But how can they trust us and not blame us?"

Rudi proposed, "How about we make a presentation? We show them the evidence of what we found, and also the solution to fix it."

They also decided to prepare a presentation. With a combination of Elsa's knowledge of IT and Rudi's speaking skills, they create an engaging and informative presentation.

A few days later, with permission from their teacher, Rudi and Elsa request an audience with the principal. They show evidence of the weaknesses of the school system and provide solutions to improve it.

At first the principal seemed skeptical, but after seeing the evidence and listening to their arguments, he seemed impressed. "Thank you, both of you. This shows how important it is to keep our student data secure. We'll be working to fix it soon."

Elsa and Rudi walked out of the room with a feeling of relief. They not only manage to find weaknesses in the school system but also contribute in improving them.

The story spreads quickly in school, and Elsa and Rudi's reputation as 'ethical hackers' begins to take shape. Not only that, their relationship is getting closer, based on trust and the desire to make positive changes through technology.

Previously, they were only known as ordinary students with strange hobbies, but now, Elsa and Rudi became the center of attention. Some teachers even ask for their help to fix the computer system in their school.

But it's not just the compliments they receive. Some students begin to doubt their motives. "Maybe they actually want to steal data?", these whispers began to spread. Elsa, who is usually more secretive, seems annoyed by the gossip.

"It's Elsa, we know what we're doing is right" said Rudi, trying to calm down.

Elsa stared at her computer screen, "But, Rudi, we have to show that our intentions are completely pure. How about we set up a computer club at school? We can teach other students about the importance of cybersecurity and hacking ethics."

Rudi nodded, "That's a good idea. We can share our knowledge and help other students understand the digital world more deeply."

With the principal's approval, they established the "School Cyber Security Club". Elsa and Rudi started holding regular meetings, giving workshops, and question and answer sessions. The club quickly gained members, from those who were initially just curious to those who really wanted to learn.

In one of the meetings, Elsa showed how cyberattacks are carried out and how to prevent them. While Rudi guides the discussion on ethics in the digital world and the importance of maintaining online privacy.

Over time, the negative gossip about them began to subside. They are not only seen as "hackers" but as protectors and educators. Even some students from other schools started joining clubs to learn from them.

Elsa, who was previously always considered a "strange child", is now a source of inspiration for many students. Rudi, who has always been in the shadow of his family's academic achievements, is now known to have his own identity in the IT world.

However, behind the club's success and their togetherness, there is one thing that starts to plague Elsa's mind. Something to do with his feelings for Rudi. Every time I saw Rudi talking to a female club member or laughing with her friends, jealousy began to grow. However, he chose to keep it, fearing interfering with the cooperation and friendship they had built.
