Rudi and Tanti work hard in the simple medical tent they set up in the middle of the village. The tent was surrounded by a dense wilderness and on top of it, the sun hid behind thick clouds that added to the impression of air viscosity. The air felt hot and humid, like a veil that enveloped the entire village. They had been here for a few days, battling against a mysterious, rampant plague.
Tanti was sitting inside a medical tent, surrounded by a group of citizens who were enthusiastic about learning first aid skills. He patiently explains the steps to take if a person has minor cuts or scrapes. His youthful face was full of vigor, and his eyes sparkled as he looked at the enthusiasm of his audience.
"When cleaning the wound, make sure your hands are clean" Tanti said as she showed her steps. "This is to prevent infection. And don't forget, avoid touching the wound with dirty hands."
A young mother among her listeners nodded in agreement. "Thank you, Doctor Tanti. It's really useful. I hope we don't need to use it, but better know than not."
Tanto, who was playing with a group of children outside the tent, overheard the conversation. He smiled at the young mother and said, "We hope so too, ma'am. But if you need help, we're here to help."
Rudi, on the other side of the tent, was taking care of an old man who looked very weak. The man had been infected with the disease, and his condition was getting worse. Rudi did everything he could to provide the needed treatment, but he knew that the situation was very serious.
"I'll give you antibiotics" Rudi said in a soft voice to the old man. "May this help to overcome your infection."
The old man only nodded weakly in response. His face was full of worry, and he looked at Rudi with hopeful eyes. Rudi knew that he was the only hope for this old man.
Tanti continued her training, teaching local residents about the danger signs and when to seek further medical help. Everyone listened carefully, and Tanti was delighted that they were so enthusiastic about learning. He hopes the knowledge he shares can help the local community deal better with this difficult situation.
As the sun begins to set and the atmosphere becomes colder, Rudi, Tanti, and Tanto continue to work hard to provide medical care and support local residents. They know that the fight is not over, but they are united in their determination to fight this plague and help the local community recover.
The next day, Rudi, Tanti, and Tanto get ready to make a home visit to the village. They carried boxes containing medicines they had prepared beforehand, as well as some medical devices that might be needed. Although the weather was still hot, their spirits did not go out. They know that this step is essential to monitor the health condition of the citizens and provide further treatment if needed.
The village was full of simple houses made of wood and bamboo. A simple walkway runs between the houses, and the surrounding tall trees provide some shade from the sun. Low boisterous voices of locals talking and laughing rang out in the distance.
Rudi led the entourage, and first, they visited the house of an old woman they had met before in a medical tent. The woman looked weaker than before, and Rudi immediately provided the necessary treatment.
"Doctor, I feel very weak," said the old woman in a weak voice. "I'm afraid this disease will make me worse."
Rudi gently examined the woman's condition and gave her the appropriate medicines. "Don't worry, Mom. We are here to help you recover. Make sure you take this medicine regularly, and do not hesitate to call us if you feel worse."
The woman smiled weakly in response, thanks to Rudi and his team for the attention and care they gave.
Meanwhile, Tanti and Tanto have distributed brochures to local residents. They talk to them about the importance of maintaining personal and environmental hygiene, as well as providing tips on how to prevent the spread of the disease. Some local residents are very enthusiastic about following the suggestions given by Tanti and Tanto.
In one of the houses, they meet a young mother who is taking care of her sick baby. The mother was worried and anxious about her child's health. Rudi provided care to the baby and provided guidance to the mother on how to properly care for her baby.
"Doctor, thank you for your help," the young mother said expectantly. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
Rudi smiled and embraced the young mother. "We're here to help. If you need anything, please feel free to call us anytime."
The house-to-house visit continued into the afternoon. Rudi, Tanti, and Tanto are satisfied that they have provided assistance to local residents and taught them how to take better care of their health. Although their fight against the plague was long, they knew that they were making a difference in the lives of the people in the village.
Rudi and Tanti know that one of the groups most vulnerable to this disease is children. Therefore, they pay special attention to them. In a medical tent, several infected children are being treated. Some of them appear weak, and some even have high fevers.
One of the children being treated was a little girl about five years old. She was lying on the bed with her eyes closed. Rudi and Tanti stood around him, trying to determine the most suitable treatment for him.
"Doctor, can you help my sister?" said a girl who looked anxious, standing beside her sister's bed.
Rudi smiled gently at the little girl. "Of course, honey. We'll do our best for your sister." Rudi then gave her the medicine and treatment needed to reduce her sister's fever. She also gave advice to her brother on how to properly care for his sister.
Meanwhile, Tanto tried to comfort the children being treated in medical tents. He brought some small toys and started playing with them. Although they were sick, the children smiled and laughed while playing with Tanto. The atmosphere in the medical tent is starting to feel more cheerful, and this gives additional encouragement to children who are struggling with disease.
Several days passed, and there were signs of recovery in most of the children being treated. They started to return their smiles, and their fever started to drop. Rudi and Tanti still provide extra care and ensure that they get enough nutrients to speed up the recovery process.
One of the boys about seven years old who was treated in a medical tent, who was originally very weak, had now started playing with his friends. Rudi and Tanti are delighted to see this positive change.
"Doctor, I feel better now," said the boy with a joyful smile.
Rudi nodded and smiled. "That's good news, son. Keep taking the medicine I've given you, and you'll get better."
Meanwhile, Tanto helps the newly recovered children to play outside the medical tent. They run around and play ball in the sun, creating moments of much-needed happiness.
Day after day, the children's condition continues to improve. Rudi and Tanti are very grateful to see the recovery of these children. Although the fight against the disease is still long, seeing the children back to health becomes a great motivation for them to keep fighting. They knew that their work in this village was still unfinished, and they were ready to face any challenges that might arise.
