A cool morning Eve greets Rudi's face as he enters his practice room for the first time. His radiance shone on the edge of the city with a pink tinge that slowly faded into blue. The trail of morning dew was still attached to the leaves of the tree that stood majestically on the side of the road, adding to the freshness of the air he breathed.
However, the freshness is not enough to relieve Rudi's anxiety. His new practice room, though simple, was a dream that eventually came true. However, as time went on, the chairs in the waiting room remained empty.
A young mother with her toddler son came into the room. His smile seemed doubtful. "Doctor Rudi?" ask her in a hopeful tone.
Rudi got up from his chair, "Yes, I'm Rudi. How can I help you, Mom?"
The young mother looked at him, "My son has had a fever since last night, and I heard Doctor Rudi has just graduated and is the youngest here. Wish you could find something that other doctors might miss."
Rudi's expression changed; his two eyebrows met, showing anxiety. He gently took the boy and examined him. Every movement was noticed by the mother with bated breath.
Suddenly, the ringing sound of Rudi's phone shocked them. Rudi apologized as he grabbed his phone and saw a message from Elsa: "May your first day go well, Ru!"
Not wanting to make the mother wait any longer, Rudi refocused. "I think it's just a normal fever, but I'll prescribe medicine to relieve the fever. If in three days there is no improvement, please come back again."
The mother nodded, though her face seemed not entirely sure. "Thank you, Doctor."
Rudi looked at them leaving with mixed feelings. Did he really make the right decision by opening his own practice?
Lunch time came, and the waiting room was still quiet. Rudi decided to eat at the cafe across the street. The wind blew, carrying the aroma of toast and coffee from the cafe. There, he met a senior doctor who also had practice in the same area.
"Ah, Doctor Rudi! You just opened the practice? I heard a little criticism about you" the senior doctor said with a cynical smile.
Rudi gulped his saliva, "I'm trying my best, Doctor."
The senior doctor laughed, "You're still young. Sometimes experience is more valuable than knowledge. Don't be so confident."
Rudi's heart felt heavy. Was he really misstep? However, a determination was burning in his heart. He will prove that his decision is not wrong, even if it means going through obstacles.
When he returned to his practice, an elderly patient was waiting for him. The patient came with the same complaints as he had often heard during his education. However, this time, with the experience of that morning, Rudi examined it more thoroughly. And sure enough, he found something that other doctors usually miss.
That night, Rudi came home with a better feeling. Despite his criticism and uncertainty, his heart is hopeful for tomorrow.
That morning, the sun began to rise from the eastern horizon, illuminating the city with a tinge of gold. The sound of singing birds chanted in rhythm with the gentle whirring of the wind. In a corner of the city, a signpost stands with the words "Doctor Rudi - General Practice", signalling the start of the working day for the young doctor.
As a new doctor, Rudi was full of enthusiasm and hope. But reality is not as good as hope. The first patient of the day to arrive was a mother with her son whimpering in pain. The mother came with a worried look on her face. "Doctor, my son has had three days of stomach pain, please check" the mother asked in a trembling voice.
However, the next day, the mother returned with her child whose condition was declining. "Doctor! Why is my son getting worse?!" scold him with a high tone.
Rudi, who was shocked, tried to calm the mother down. "I'm sorry, Mom. Let's check back."
As someone who is just starting to practice, complaints like this continue to approach Rudi. From misdiagnosis to improper prescription. No doubt, news about Rudi's inability as a doctor began to spread in the surrounding environment.
At a cafe not far from his practice, Rudi overheard the conversation of two middle-aged women. "Have you heard about the new doctor across the street? He said many patients complained about him" whispered one of them.
The other woman nodded, "Yes, my cousin's son is also one of the victims of the wrong diagnosis."
Rudi felt so devastated hearing the conversation. Every night, while gazing at the starry sky, he wondered if his decision to become a doctor was wrong.
The clear morning in the city seemed ordinary. The sunlight that broke through between the cracks of the building emitted a warm golden tinge. In the opposite garden, small children ran after the flying birds, while the leaves of the trees swayed gently in the morning breeze.
Inside the clinic, Rudi sat languidly behind his desk. Her puffy eyes showed signs of sleep deprivation. In front of him, a number of medical files lay in disarray. In a corner of the room, an old computer flickered displaying patient data. Every time the entrance opened, his eyes sparkled for a moment, hoping for a patient to come. But often all that comes is the wind, bringing the fresh smell of the city that morning.
Phone's vibrating. A message came in from Elsa: "Rudi, how are you? I heard your clinic is deserted. Don't give up."
However, news of his misdiagnosis had already spread. The patient's complaints did not stop. Every time Rudi tried to get up, a new problem arose, dragging him back into the pit of despair.
That afternoon, Rudi decided to close the clinic early. He walked to the park not far from his clinic. Under the shade of the oak tree, he sat down, staring at the children playing cheerfully.
"Why can't I be as happy as them?" murmured Rudi in heart. His mind drifts back to the past, as he and Elsa study the world of hacking. At that moment, everything seemed easy and hopeful.
When the sun began to sink, giving a dazzling orange color in the sky, Rudi felt lonely. He almost gave up, decided to close the clinic and return to the world of hacking.
Suddenly, a young woman with long blonde hair approached him. "Doctor Rudi?" ask her doubtfully.
Rudi nodded, "Yes, can I help you?"
The woman smiled, "I heard a lot of complaints about you. But I believe you can do better. I'd like you to check on my son."
Rudi looked at the woman, surprised. In the midst of despair, a glimmer of hope appeared. This might be the second chance she's been waiting for.
