CHAPTER 4: CHESEE CAKE

Kalan looked cynically at the figure of the young man who was sitting in front of him now. Irsyad smiled obliquely, folded his arms in front of his chest and looked down at Kalan.

"And stupidly, you're always eaten um-"

"Female fools?"

Kalan cut Irsyad's speech, his second glance became fierce. Irsyad does not know why he behaved as he did just now, but clearly he felt annoyed when he found out his best friend was married.

"Halwah isn't that kind of person, she's a girl from a distinguished family like you!" kalan pressed his last sentence, making Irsyad speechless and growling lazily.

"Yes, and you married because of the love between you??"

"No. I told you it was a match, didn't I?" kalan said, he clucked lazily and turned on the TV this time with a medium volume. The young man's forehead creased deeply, a sign that he was already irritated by Irsyad's attitude now.

"You said it but, don't explain it to me! How can I understand???"

The TV remote was seized by force, Irsyad turned off the flat object in annoyance and looked at Kalan demanding.

"You're interpreting the matter yourself, how can I explain if you've been thinking like this yourself??"

Breathing out from the brown-blossomed young man, he glanced at the wall between the kitchen and the living room; finding the silent Halwah peering over but the girl's gaze was fixed on the coldness of the wooden floor. Kalan realized that, from that moment the black-spirited young man already knew Halwah was standing there.

"Then explain" whispered Irsyad. He threw a glance at a pile of paper trash in the corner of the room. Kalan was silent for a moment, he looked at the irsyad's face from the side before sighing and leaning his back on the sofa's backrest.

"Remember the covenant story between two friends that Grandpa always told us as a child?" kalan said, he glanced at Irsyad's reaction who immediately nodded lightly while looking at him innocently.

"Grandfather promised to marry his son to his best friend's son, right? And I asked, what happened when both of their children were born?"

"Your father and Grandpa Lazuardy's best friend's son were born."

Kalan nodded, he smiled blandly at Irsyad whose forehead was furrowed deeply. A second later, the young man stared in disbelief at Kalan while shaking in disbelief.

"He's Grandpa Kahar's grandson???"

Kalan nodded, sighed softly and patted Irsyad's shoulder which looked shocked to hear the reality about Halwah.

"Y-so? She's the only heir who says she's so smart and pretty?"

"I don't know that."

Irsyad patted the eel, grabbed his phone and said goodbye after asking Kalan to offer his apology to Halwah.

The young man also said that this was very important and that he should meet Nafisah right now.

---

Halwah gasped in surprise, she stood up to Kalan and glanced at the living room where Irsyad was no longer there.

"Di-he already knows?" halwah asked nervously, he felt a little awkward when he realized the distance stood with Kalan only a few inches. While her handsome husband just nodded slowly, then walked towards the refrigerator and counted the number of vanilla ice cream cups.

"You ate two packs?" kalan asked, Halwah quickly nodded and gave a funny grin afterwards.

"I feel thirsty after cooking earlier, w-w-w-w-w-wanna eat?"

Actually, Halwah became a little hesitant when she returned to taste her cooking just now. Vegetable soup that he cooked was salty, he had added quite a lot of broth water but still salty. However, it was impossible to let Kalan have lunch with an instant menu.

"What are you cooking?" Kalan closed the refrigerator door, he walked towards the stove and opened the pot above it. Halwah bit her lower lip when Kalan just directly tasted the soup broth in the pot. Dare to bet, the soup is salty. However, Kalan's face looked ordinary then he nodded his head slightly and commented on the thin smile.

"It's my taste. Can you get the rice?"

Halwah flinched, in fact she was confused. Does Kalan like foods that contain a lot of salt? A little hesitant, Halwah prepared lunch for Kalan. The young man helped by arranging the dishes onto the dining table.

When everything was ready, Kalan immediately devoured all the menus that Halwah cooked greedily. Without a variety of comments about the taste of soup or the taste of chicken tasteless. Halwah was unable to spend her rice, while Kalan spent two servings with four pieces of chicken.

"A-anu, is that delicious?" halwah asked hesitantly, she stared fearfully as Kalan looked at her with a flat gaze. The young man nodded and continued eating until he finished.

Afterwards, Kalan uttered ‘Alhamdulillah’ and brought his plate to the sink. For a moment he stared at the silent Halwah, the young man was about to say something but he was oblivious and passed without saying another word. In fact, Halwah hopes a compliment comes out of Kalan's lips.

The black-footed girl decided to go out to the yard with a bowl of soup, then gave it to some white swans that were kept by the Lazuardy family. Kalan said that his father liked the sound of swans when according to Kalan they were always noisy. Halwah looked at the goose who was also reluctant to eat the soup with cheeks puffed up because of annoyance.

“What's that bad for my cooking?! Kalan just spent half of it!” grumbling Halwah, he jerked his legs in annoyance before running into the house and spending time folding clothes.

He was still wondering, how could Kalan eat with the greed of his acidity? Halwah admitted that she was not good at cooking, but should you lie like that? Kalan did not even comment on anything other than saying ‘This is my taste.’

“Sucks once,”

After Ashar, Halwah chose to clean up and was about to order food instead of having to go back to wasting ingredients in the refrigerator. He was shocked to find Kalan lying on the sofa with his eyes closed as he exited the bathroom, the young man did not rub him at all and turned his back on him when Halwah asked him what he wanted to eat tonight.

The girl sighed, choosing to go downstairs and was silent on the spot. There are many packages on top of the kitchen pantry and near the package containing two pizza boxes, there is a clear mica filled with cheese cake with vanilla ice cream top inside. Halwah approached, she found a small orange piece of paper that read ‘As a sign of apology for the incident this afternoon and an expression of gratitude for her lunch. Your cooking was good.’

Unknowingly, Halwah smiled with two faint pink pseudo on her cheeks. The girl giggled amusedly and quickly opened the mica just now, feeling how soft and savory the cheese cake combined with the sweetness of the ice cream.

How could Kalan know about Halwah's favorite this one? And that night, when Kalan joined in and the two enjoyed two pizza boxes accompanied by horror films, Halwah said she promised to be a better wife for Kalan the next day.
