CHAPTER 7: DO YOU LIKE IT?

Chapter 7: Do you like it?

The final semester exam ends. Halwah breathed softly as she managed to solve the last physics problem. The girl looked out where Kalan was standing like a statue outside her class. Halwah only chuckled a little then tidied up her writing instrument and approached Kalan who immediately greeted her with a subtle pat on the top of her head.

The people who were paying attention were no longer surprised, but there were many among the girls who were blatantly showing dislike and jealousy. From that night on, Kalan began to change a little and be more flexible. The two decided to get closer by acting like lovers outside the house and if at home, Halwah played a wife who is good at cooking. Although sometimes the taste of the cuisine feels like sea water, Kalan still praises the cuisine and spends it without waste.

“You are coming to Irsyad?” ask Kalan flat. Yes, it is difficult to get rid of the flat face of Kalan as well as his indifferent attitude that makes Halwah sometimes feel Kalan hates him.

“Heum! I'm coming!” halwah replied in spirit, he smiled widely when the figure of Nafisah appeared with a brown map containing a special exam sheet for Irsyad who did not take the exam for a week. Kalan's best friend was filming a new soap opera that was being warmly talked about by some students at school.

“Nafisah also come?”

“Hm,”

Halwah smiled again then she took Nafisah's hand and walked first. Letting Kalan tail behind them with his expressionless face.

--

“Woah! You guys are really true friends!” yukir Irsyad dramatizes

Kalan snorted at the happy expression made by Irsyad when the three had arrived at the set which took 1.5 hours drive from school. Even Kalan felt tired just by sitting quietly in the car rather than having to ride a bicycle to his house for 45 minutes.

“Practice us dinner, then I admit you my best friend.” Celutuk Nafisah threw the map containing the test paper in the direction of Irsyad, who fortunately swiftly caught the map.

“Very early, you know I haven't paid and you asked for a deal? You didn't forget the food-sucking machine there?” irsyad pointed at Kalan with his chin while displaying a playful expression.

The young man who was being colonized only felt indifferent and preferred to play the end of Halwah's busy hair giggled amusedly, and the girl gasped in shock as Kalan deliberately pulled a strand of her hair. The sight, not spared from the eyes of Nafisah who had already heated up to see how Kalan and Halwah became closer than the first time he knew the news of their marriage.

“Already, already. You guys must be tired ‘kan? I will do this after arriving home with direct monitoring from the BK teacher. You better rest in the tent over there!” Irsyad spoke up, a little bit of his heart heating up to see the expression of Nafisah just now. He preferred to be quiet while leading the three towards the tent and resting there.

Kalan immediately fell asleep on the grounds that his power was drained. While Halwah, the girl smiled faintly while looking at Kalan. Then, when Irsyad asked permission to return to the set, leaving the awkwardness that occurred between Halwah and Nafisah. Even though the unraveling girl was busy with her cell phone, Halwah was not a fool not to be aware of the anxiety of Nafisah.

Halwah glanced at Nafisah, the girl poked her lips which somehow felt dry. There was something he wanted to say, but was hindered by great fear. Since Halwah was first introduced to Nafisah by Kalan, the girl already knew something was different from Nafisah's gaze after hearing the fact that they were now a married couple. Halwah is not prejudiced, it just feels so bad. Halwah is not typical of outspoken people, but if it involves anxiety that makes it difficult to think, it is another story.

Five minutes passed in silence, Halwah heaved a heavy sigh before she could raise her voice. However, it turns out that Nafisah first kept his phone and stood in front of Halwah with a flat view.

“There is a cold drink machine inside the make up room corridor. Do you want to go there with me or do you want to take it?” ask Nafisah. The girl was only silent as Halwah flinched suddenly and in a hurry grabbed Kalan's backpack, Nafisah frowned; “What's Kalan's bag for?”

Halwah smiled before answering; “We agreed to split the school allowance wallet, so Kalan's pocket money is also my pocket money!”

For some reason, hearing the word ‘milik’ makes the heart Nafisah throbbing pain. He turned his gaze towards Irsyad laughing with the film director, then he stepped first when Halwah had finished taking the money.

--

Corridor of the artist's makeup room is not like Halwah's expectations, in the movies he always watched, the makeup room is the most crowded room with staff and film crew or artists. “I think, here will be as crowded as in the movie.” Celtuk Halwah, the two clear beads look at the window carving in the form of sunflowers.

“This is not used if the artist has been filming, the makeup artist will wait behind the director.” Obviously Nafisah, the girl immediately put in her coins when they arrived at the corridor where many lined cold and warm drink machines.

“Woah! You know a lot about the atmosphere on the set of the movie?”

She smiled faintly, sniffing her right shoulder as she stared at the drink machine that sounded like a truck; “Well, Irsyad, me and Kalan were best friends since childhood. Irsyad started filming when we were 10, so it's no wonder I know so much, right? Kalan also knows a lot about the world of films.” Nafisah said, he smiled victoriously as he looked at Halwah's surprised-looking face.

“Really? Kalan rarely talked about the work of his friends. Lately he more often discuss the health of Grandpa and our new home model later when graduated,” unknowingly the word Halwah makes Nafisah silenced a thousand languages.

What did he say just now? A new home after graduation? Are they both planning to get old?

“Halwah,”

“Ya?”

Halwah and Nafisah drinks come out together. Both of them were silent staring at their respective cold drink cans. Nafisah looked at my right fender Halwah who was clenching, the slick smile she painted while crouching to take her drink. As he was about to leave from there, Halwah's voice interrupted Nafisah to shut up.

“You like?”

Behind Nafisah, Halwah smiled faintly. In the heart of the soot-lined girl exclaims about her prejudice which turns out to be true; that Nafisah puts a taste in Kalan, her husband.

“You like Kalan, right ‘kan Nafisah?”

“A-what do you mean?” with fear, Nafisah turned to look at Halwah back. The girl hugged the can of her drink tightly while looking down deeply, letting her long bangs dangle down.

“You like Kalan. No matter how evasive you are, the fact is you love my husband.”

Halwah never thought she would say such a thing just now. It's out of control and somehow he lets himself be restrained by his own feelings. Perhaps, when compared to him who has only known Kalan in recent months, Halwah will lose to compete with Nafisah who has certainly fallen in love with Kalan first.

“You know since when?”

“Se-since.. since you ignored my message!”

Breath smile thinly, “I never reply to your message, Halwah. Is that enough evidence? And if the answer is yes, would you give Kalan to me?”

Halwah gasped in shock, with a quick movement the girl looked up and stared in disbelief at Nafisah who was now smiling with a soft look. There are so many wounds in there and so much hope about Halwah's answer that it might be impossible if the girl agreed.

“What are you talking about? Even if you liked Kalan longer than I did, you didn't deserve to say that in front of your friend's wife!” Halwah's soda can fell, Nafisah looked at her flatly. A flimsy smile etched on her natural lips, “But she was my first love.”

Cans rolling on the floor created a noise between the empty spaces, until the cans stopped spinning as they smashed into the walls of the corridor. Nafisah sighed, then he stared at the intense Halwah, the girl followed him with both eyes flushed red.

“If you have the right to maintain your silly relationship, I also have my own right to keep my feelings.” After saying so, Nafisah passed away. Leaving the silent Halwah while wiping the corner of her watery eyes.

What did he just do? Are his words exaggerated too? In this context, perhaps Nafisah thought that he had taken Kalan. At that time, Halwah was also helpless. Throughout the reception that day, Halwah was so worried about Kalan that she might have someone special in her life and be forced to marry him just because of an old agreement.

Halwah grabbed her soda can lying in the corner of the corridor, she stood back in front of the beverage machine and ordered another cola for Kalan. However he held back, tears that seeped down his cheeks could not be avoided Halwah. The girl let her cheeks wash and her little back quiver, something hurt her heart. A fear that might be a destroyer among the hope sheets that Halwah put together after her marriage to Kalan.

The sound of cans coming out resuscitated Halwah, immediately the girl decomposed soot rubbed her face rough. He crouched down and grabbed the soda and then ran back to the tent, where Nafisah had a conversation with Kalan who was awake.

With mixed feelings, Halwah approached. He did not know what his expression was like now, but seeing Kalan's frowning face made Halwah sure his expression was now a mess.

“Halwah, have you cried?” kalan asked, the young man shifted to make room for Halwah to sit next to him. Two bottles of cola changed hands and ended up lying neatly on a plastic table in front of them.

“A-anu, was it pinned down drink machine?”

“Hah? How could? You hurt?” unexpectedly Irsyad appeared from the right side of the tent, he stood towering in front of Kalan and Halwah. Kalan nodded, he glanced at the two palms of Halwah who were clashing together restlessly.

“Your hand? What's hurt?”

Kalan frowned when Halwah shook her head slowly and preferred to bow. Halwah is not a typical girl who is outspoken, she can not say that in fact she became a whiny just because of trivial things? But, this is not a trivial thing! Halwah likes Kalan and she has the full right to forbid others from liking her husband too, right?

A heavy sigh rang out, it was Kalan. The young man picked up a can of cola and opened it and then thrust it to Halwah. “Drink, you bought this for thirst ‘kan? I don't want to force you to answer, but after this we go home.” Kalan said, He did not know his words just made Nafisah frown dislike and the expression did not escape the sight of Halwah and also Irsyad who smiled bitterly.

“Managerku will order you a taxi,”

“Thank you, Syad.”
